  1. Tiera they look great!!!! Â We just decided that we're going to forego official invites for our wedding. Mostly everyone who we expected to come have already booked their trip, so no need to "invite" them again. We plan on having an AHR, but aren't sure where/when/how we're going to go about doing that yet. My cousin also just got engaged, and I expect she'll be getting married next summer, so we've decided to wait until we return from Jamaica before planning an AHR. Then we will simply do marriage announcements/invites for the AHR at that time. That's not too tacky right?
  2. i paid for my dress on my own. actually FI and I are paying for everything on our own (although we believe his parents will be helping out with the AHR). as for my parents, I had the choice 4 years ago to either have $ to help out with a wedding, or use the $ to help out with a down payment on my house. owning a house is more important to me so I chose to get the help with that instead.
  3. I ended up taking only my mother and my FMIL. My mom and I are like best friends, and I get along REALLY well with my FMIL. My FI is also one of only 2 boys, meaning she doesn't have a daughter of her own to go dress shopping with, so I thought it would be a nice gesture to invite his mom along. The 3 of us had a great time and I bought my dress that first shopping trip out!
  4. welcom tris!!! thanks for posting that list! there sure are a lot of us April brides!
  5. Well I know here in Canada, I had to renew under my maiden name to go get married in april.... and then will have to pay and renew again once we are married.
  6. Great pictures!!!!!! Â I don't want to hi-jack the thread but for you toronto-area brides, a friend of mine who lives in Newmarket is an up-and-coming photographer and does boudoir photos. www.threestridestudios.ca that's her website so you can check out her work. She did my boudoir photos in the spring before I even got engaged and did a FABULOUS job!!! (her blog post about my session is here: http://threestridestudio.wordpress.com/2010/04/29/a-boudoir-session-miss-l/ ) Â I mentioned this site to her today and she wanted me to let you girls know that she'd love to do sessions with more brides if interested. She charges $300 for a 1.5-2hour session. This includes up to 3 outfits, a private online gallery for viewing and a CD of 10 favourite images (something can be worked out for more). She'll also give 10% off if you have a friend who wants to book as well. When I did it, there were 4 of us who were shot on the same day so costs were cut.
  7. Wow, we're not much help! lol i really like #1 Â boarding pass invite samples.doc
  8. Â I know I couldn't believe it! I started the ordering process then saw $55 for expedited shipping with no option for anything else and then closed my browser! That's definitely a rediculous shipping charge to come to Canada. Especially for something that could realistically be shipped in an envelope! We ship things to the US all the time (from sales on ebay) and a box that this top could fit in only costs us $5 to ship south!
  9. just make sure she's good about applying and RE-applying her sunscreen!!! i find the spray ones make it sooo easy to do that. Â we're also coming to the time of year where sunscreen will start to go on sale here in Ontario, so keep your eyes open for them and stock up! Â
  10. i love that top! but... they want $55 just to ship it here to Ontario!!!!! so not worth is sadly...
  11. thanks ladies!!!! Â mochamakes --- I'm actually on the hunt now for a couple of strapless bikini tops to wear the 3 days before my ceremony (I arrive Wed. and the wedding is Sat). Hopefully that will give me a nice even tan before my big day. It's all a matter of finding something though. I cringe at the thought of spending a ton on a simple bikini top! I hope to find a couple that will just match the bottoms of bathing suits I already have. I have 1 strapless sun dress and hope to find a few tube tops or something to wear for those 3 days.
  12. ahh lol!! Â okee! here is me in my Maggie "Brittanya"!!! it's a sample that I scored right off the rack for only $500!! (regular price was $1536!!) Â Â And the back which i LOVE! Â
  13. one more thing checked off my list! bought the dress last saturday!!!!!
  14. hey I can post here now too! Â I am now a Maggie bride! Purchased my "Brittanya" dress off the rack this past weekend! I LOVE it!
  15. Thank you again everyone for the comments! Â islandbride - THANK YOU for finding what style it is! It is most definitely the Brittanya. For some reason I don't recall seeing the style name on the label - only Maggie Sottero Haute Couture - I'll have to look again next time I go to my parents' house. Â mochamakes - I bought it at Everlasting Memories in Port Perry the ladies there were sooooo nice.
  16. this is good to know. thanks for all the info on here ladies. i will have to call the lawyer i used to purchase my house to see if he can help me out. thankfully i don't need to worry about doing it until the new year.
  17. thanks ladies! i'm still so excited and almost in shock that I actually found it so quickly!
  18. Yesterday I went shopping for the very first time and I came home with my dress!!! (totally unexpected) Â I came home with a Maggie too!!! (another thing that was totally unexpected) Â I always loved Maggie dresses, but prior to shopping accepted the fact that I probably wouldn't end up being able to get one due to my very tight budget of only $500. Well yesterday was my lucky day! I found this Maggie Haute Couture dress on the sale rack because it had been discontinued. Regular price $1536, marked down to $500!!!! I think it was meant to be. Taking it off the rack, I still wasn't thinking that it would be the one. I tired on 3 other dresses first, but the moment I put this Maggie on, I knew it was mine. The size was almost perfect too! It only needs a little altering in the chest area, as well as on the train. I am going to get the train taken off so the bottom of the dress is all one length so that it doesn't drag in the sand. (we tucked it all in below to get the general idea of how I want it to look) Â I'm SOOOOOOO excited!! Â Here 'we' are! Â Â And the amazing back: Â And one more with the flower in my hair. This is the general idea of how I want to wear my hear on the big day. Â Â I honestly still can't believe I actually bought THE dress on the first try!!
