  1. At this point, i'm not worrying about centerpieces. I really just don't want to have to lug all kinds of stuff with me and am not really picky about stuff like that. Although who knows, that might change closer to the date. As for music, we're just thinking of having our ceremony music - i'm walking down the aisle to Big Mountain's version of "Baby I Love Your Way" hehe we love the reggae/Jamaican feel to it. It's fitting. We're also going to make a play list to play on an ipod during our reception meal. As for a big music dance thing after... we're not "dancy" people LOL so the plan is to just go crash the disco as a group. I hear that the one at our resort is usually dead so we think it will be fun to have the place to ourselves. And as for the AHR.. again no dancing because i'm so not a dancing type of girl.. we're just having some sort of cocktail party or bbq
  2. hehe over our meal on Sunday we were actually just talking about you guys having your thanksgiving so much later than us! I don't know how you guys do it having those big turkey feasts so close to one another! lol at least we get a couple months in between to work them off hehehe regardless, i am sure the next few months are going to fly. i'm actually thinking of starting my little projects asap before it's feb and i haven't started!!! on another note, my mom found me the coolest thing for my OOT bags yesterday at the dollar store. it's these little soap leaves - they're about an inch in diamater and paper thin. You just add water and you have laundry soap! She thought it would be great for people to use if they want to clean their bathing suits throughout the week.
  3. time is definitely starting to fly!!!
  4. I'm not doing a private reception. I'm doing the free wedding package pretty much to the T! including the semi-private reception, which I hear though is on the upper floor of the steakhouse at our resort, so we'll still have our own area. fI and I aren't big into the dance party parts of weddings so the dance stuff isn't really a big deal for us. We figure we'll just get the whole group to go to the disco after supper then finish the night with a midnight swim in the ocean!
  5. I had originally asked both of my parents to walk me because we are so close, but my mom isn't too keen on the idea of walking down the aisle lol .. so it will be just my dad and I.
  6. hey! the thread has come back to life!!! Aside from booking and confirming my wedding date/location, as well as confirming with Dionne that I'll have the Steakhouse for my semi-private reception, I haven't really had a need to contact the resort this early. We're going with the free wedding package so there aren't too many extra details to work out and we're also brining a fairly small group (I'm guessing we'll have about 25 in the end). When the date comes closer we do want to organize some sort of welcome dinner as well as a group sunset trip to Rick's Cafe the day after the weddding. We think the Ricks Cafe cruise the day after would be perfect because my FI's best friend actually asked us if we'd be ok with him proposing to his gf while in Jamaica. We obviously said OF COURSE! it would be perfect because she wouldn't be expecting it when travelling for our wedding. So I'm thinking Rick's Cafe at sunset would be a PERFECT proposal time for him! We're 6 months away now, but I'm starting to feel like I should probably start getting my behind in gear in terms of my DIY projects since I most likely won't be getting much done during the holidays. The major things are taken care of though. FI has his attire, I have my dress and shoes. My grandma is going to alter my dress for me (only has to be shortened) and that will be taken care of some time this fall. Trip is booked and will be paid for at the end of the month. The only other major thing is our rings, but we think we'll wait until Jan to get those. How soon did you get your rings??? I just keep changing my mind on what I want!!! I thought I wanted a simple band, but when I was in the store the other day to get my ring cleaned I noticed they had a new band there with stones that I LOVED! oh the decisions!! I've also recently decided I want to make my bouquet instead of going with the free one from the resort. So now I'm on the hunt for some faux turquoise flowers. how fun! I can't believe your day is only 96 days away now deb! soooo exciting!!
  7. $400 for a mini version!!!!??! wow... it's amazing how much those places like to charge isn't it? that's why i'm trying to do as much diy was possible. i like the idea of making my own bouquet too because then i can bring it home (can't bring real flowers back into the country) and display it at my AHR
  8. ooo i like those orchids!!! thanks! i'm going to keep my eye on Michaels' around here, but I may purchase online instead. Even though I wouldn't need 30, $10.99 is still WAY cheaper than $140 for an already made bouquet
  9. the nicest one that comes with my package (we're doing the free wedding) is made up with purple and white flowers.. and then baby's breath that i find cheapens the look. so I came across this which i'm going to use as inspiration except i don't want green flowers, but white... my challenge will be to find blue gerbera daisies now!
  10. on a more wedding related note - I've decided that I'm going to attempt making my own bouquet with silk flowers. I really want my bouquet to have my colour (turquoise) in it, but the choices for the free bouquet at my resort don't really measure up to what I want. Anyone else going to make their bouquet??
  11. i'm definitely a sweets person, vs a salty. so what i've also done recently to curb those cravings is to invent my own recipes that are somewhat 'healthy'! ie. last night i made pumpkin cookies! no fattening ingredients like butter or oils in them so they're really not that bad for me. mmmmmmmmmm
  12. try frozen yogurt!! (Chapman's up here is my absolute favourite - I swear it tastes just like ice cream) I'm an ice cream feind and FI got me switched over to fro-yo. Much less fat but the taste is still there.
  13. ooo I just had another thought - you guys should check out the show Buldging Brides! It's a canadian show but perhaps they have episodes online??) Anyway, it's a really great show giving lots of different workout and meal plan tips. Tommy Europe - the trainer is awesome!!
  14. Hi Brandy - a 15lb loss regardless is still great! I'm not a registered dietitian or anything or trainer.. or even close to it, but I may have some tips for you. PM me if you're interested! ps. we leave in 6 months tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't believe it!
  15. Sorry to hijack, but i'd love to see pictures of yours!! what were her prices like??
  16. My aunt actually didn't have any pics to show me, however, I actually have a friend who had been a year ago with her fiancee and took a video. she burned the video and sent it to me and the place looks amazing! They walked all over the resort while taping and it just made my FI and I even more excited for our trip.
  17. my FI and I have decided to skip doing invites basically because everyone who was/is going to book, already have! We're on such a tight budget so no point wasting money when we don't really need to. We are however planning on doing a wedding announcement/invite for the AHR once we return and actually decide on an AHR date.
  18. Thanks but I was just trying to offer some input for the OP funinthesun that's all. Wanted to give her some blog references where she'll find some great recipes and such. No need for any sort of diet or lifestyle change on my end. I suppost i've been 'eating clean' for as long as i can remember and am happy just how I am
  19. I've never really heard of an actual "eat-clean" diet, however i dont' really pay attention to 'diets' anyway... it's all about eating right ALL the time!! Â Anyway, incase you are interested, I've recently transformed my blog into a healthy living blog - http://tidbitsfrommymind.wordpress.com where I include daily healthy meals and recipes. Also check out my "Blog Roll" page for links to many other healthy living bloggers. Two of my favourites are Healthy Tipping Point and Oh She Glows. Take a looksie!
  20. they all look so good!!! you've given me the inspiration to just make my own hair flowers too. did you buy the flowers at Michaels?
  21. my honest opinion? Â those cleansing diets are SOOO not good for you! Â Do you drink? (as in alchocol) on a regular basis? if so, stop. --- before i quit drinking several years ago, I would drink every weekend with friends. within a month after i stopped i dropped almost 10 lbs and have kept it off ever since. Â Alcohol aside, you should really concentrate on a good workout regime combined with a proper diet to lose weight. Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred is amazing and so many ladies swear by it!!! Â There's this tv show up here in Canada called Buldging Brides in which they have a bride who wants to lose 10lbs in 4 weeks. They always have great ideas of what you should eat and what you should be doing workout wise. Not sure if you can watch episodes online but they have great tips on workouts and food. http://www.slice.ca/Shows/ShowsPage.aspx?Title_ID=113151
  22. I'm also getting married at the Club Riu Negril and although I'm not sure what we're doing in terms of photographer, I can tell you to take all those bad reviews with a grain of salt. Â I know Lisa on this forum was married there this past January and had a great review! Â My FI and I actually decided on the resort because my aunt, who is also our TA, spent a week at the resort in May and they absolutely LOVED it!!!!! They are so excited to go back when they come for my wedding! With her being a TA, and having travelled all over the place, I fully trust her opinion hence why we went ahead and booked. If you look closely at the reviews online, you'll find MANY more good ones vs the bad ones!
