  1. just realized you can see my FI in the pic where they're walking down the asile! LOL (on the right looking towards the bride & groom) haha that's funny
  2. off topic, but on wedding topic! do you ladies ever check out the weddingchicks.com blog? My cousins' wedding was featured on there yesterday! Pretty cool http://www.weddingchicks.com/wedding-chicks/featured-weddings-events/78808/ottawayachtclubwedding/
  3. awww our days are so close! i can't wait to see everyone's wedding day pictures!!!
  4. Oh!!! SOOOO PRETTY!!! i ♥ it!
  5. oh yeah, i have some bubbles for the ceremony too
  6. well at least we haven't bought the koozies yet. i'm thinking we might just save the $$$ and scrap them
  7. hmm so now i'm wondering if we should even bother with koozies????? upon reading reviews and speakign to people who go to these resorts, they say the drinks come in smallish plastic cups. that woudl defeat the purpose of me giving people koozies would it not?? hmmmm..... lsmith - i've toyed with the idea of bringing extra advil, tums, pepto, etc. and telling people to just come see me, but then FI and I realized we're still going to want to spend a chunk of time alone without having people bother us! hehe exciting about your dress though!!!!! Wish mine fit perfectly from the start but unfortunately i just couldn't justify wearing a dress with a 6ft+ train on a beach!! so it's getting cut off. (supposed to pick it up next weekend!)
  8. yeah do let me know if you ever find some. for now, we're just going to include the first aid kits that i managed to find. hopefully people will remember to bring their own advils and such! lol
  9. i wanted to do hangover kits but it's not as easy in canada to get a hold of the meds individually packed to put in them.
  10. OMG just realized it's 79 days for us!!!! (76 unti we leave) wow! that's flying!
  11. as for the bags I've decided to do 1 bag per couple, but for the few singles that are coming (ie. grandma, great aunt, etc), they will get their own. I'm not neccesarily filling them up due to $ and the fact that we dont' want to be lugging a lot down there. But on our pre-travel brochure, i made a note for guests not to worry about a beach bag with the idea being they use the bags we give them for the beach. Haven't ordered the bags yet (on the list for next week) but I'm just planning on getting the $.99 ones from cheaptotes (due to the qty i'm getting they said the shipping charge will stay at a minimum) and we're going to iron on some sort of logo. We'll probably make up some sort of welcome letter or tag that we'll attach to the bags when we give them to our guests the first night. what i'm putting in them for sure: - rainy-day game book - pen - book mark (for each guest) - first-ait kit (from dollarama) - phot-share card - do not disturb door hangers - koozie (for each guest) - key card holders (providing i can find supplies at a decent price) i'm thinking i'm going to also include pashminas for the mom's and my uncle's gf (who acted as our TA). would love to do pashmina's for all the girls but that's way too much $$$. there are many other things i'd love to add, but we just don't have the funds to do it. also with mostly paper items, we should be able to fit it all in our suitcases with no issues. my mom knows we're making bags but no one else, so i'm hoping it all fits in our stuff to keep it a surprise for everyone.
  12. wow, guess I should consider myself lucky having a family member act as our TA! sorry you ladies are gonig through so much TA stress!
  13. I'm wearing wedge flip flops for my ceremony and heels for the reception
  14. Maybe I can actually finish my luggage tags this week! lol I've been totally lazy and haven't gotten them done yet. Now that I have my pre-travel brochures, I probably should get the tags done so I can mail it all out when I get the loops.
  15. Yeah that's what we're thinking. I opened up a dedicated PhotoBucket account last week and did my photoshare cards (which i got from Vista Print in like 3 days!) we're not super picky so we think it will work out ok. There's enough people going too that i'm sure we'll get some good shots. I just said to FI that no matter what, I want someone in my room taking shots of me getting ready.. the moment when my mom laces me up is definitely a moment that i'm going to want documented on film you know?
  16. mocha - glad to hear the shoot went well! .. i heard that marry me song on The Bachelor the other day!!! hehe we're still not sure what we're using yet. but last we talked we were thinking "Baby I Love Your Way" by Big Mountain because of the reggae vibe to it. Erin - you're welcome! and thanks for checking my blog out! As for FI's parents, deep down we're hoping that they'll offer to pay the majority of our AHR (since we're essentially having it because of them and their European idea that we are 'owed' gifts be so many people we don't know) lol .. we might just assign different people to take photos throughout the wedding day.
  17. Welcome!!!! To be completely honest, I'd be shocked if you could do what you want with a $6000 budget. Just to give you an idea, my FI and I had a budget of $5K. We are doing the "Free Wedding Package" at the Riu Negril in which we get our wedding for free providing our group book at least 5 rooms. $3K was spent right off the bat for the 2 of us for 7 days, all inclusive (incl. flight) taxes in. The free wedding includes set up of our ceremony, the coordinator, bouquet + bout, champagne for 10 people, cake for 10 people and a semi-private reception (along with a few other things). We still have to pay $360 on top of that for the minister. *IF* we wanted a private reception, (which would be nice) it's an additional $2K. That would have brought us over budget right away, so that was a no go. All the little extras cost $$$ unfortunately. For us, we chose a DW to save $, so we're not bothering with any extras except for an upgraded cake and champagne (since we have 24 guests). I also only spent $500 on my dress and he only spent just over $100 on his outfit. At least you have lots of time to shop around and save up! And hey, if you can figure it out for $6K, I commend you girl!!!
  18. Erin - we have NO idea what we're doing photographer wise. we just don't have the $$$$ to hire one and unfortunately the one who did our engagement shots, can't make it. boo! ... we were going to ask my one brother to just take shots (because FI took some at his wedding and all FI's shots were just as good as the actual photographer) BUT.. this is the brother who is literally flying in on my wedding day. I wish FI's parents would just step up and offer to pay for us to have a photographer.. especially since when we first got engaged they'd say that they'd help us out with stuff... they've never actually offered to help on anything since though... let alone even talk about the wedding really. it's odd.
  19. Erin - here it is! http://startingoutfit.wordpress.com
  20. thanks ladies!! lsmith - LOVE the ring! i'm totally going to want to wear mine before the wedding.. so maybe it is good that we're waiting to get them haha
  21. Thanks Lisa - this would be huge! (to give you an idea.. he currently works right downtown TO ... we live in Bowmanville and this new job is only in whitby about 5 min from my office!)
  22. on a non wedding related-note: please ladies send some good vibes! FI came upon a new job opportunity basically out of no where today! the pay is almost double what he makes now and it's actually fairly local so no commuting to the big city if he gets it! (which is HUGE! bc he currently commutes over an hr one way every day) .. he emailed his resume this am and already heard back from them. he's supposed to have a phone interview sometime today. this would be SOOOO good for us if he gets this! *fingers crossed*
  23. mocha - LOVE the rings!!!! as per reccomendation from the store (ben moss), we're waiting until after valentines to order our rings. i'm excited to physically have it!
  24. mocha - i wore a few different outfits - boy shorts and bra (which he hadn't seen) -- other undies and bra -- and then these thigh high american apparal socks he likes with a tank and - a thong! ahaha having friends there with you is KEY. i was so nervous at the start, but we just blasted the music joked around and it got really fun after! not much, but here's my blog post on the whole thing http://startingoutfit.wordpress.com/2010/04/20/did-someone-say-boudoir/
  25. greysgirl - I did a BD shoot last year actually.... it was an anniversary gift for FI as my friend is a photographer and wanted to try her hand at BD. Only cost me $20 to help pay for the hotel room she got. I was scared shitless to do it but once we got into it, it was sooo much fun! we just have all the photos on a cd, but part of me wants to get them printed in a small book to give FI on our wedding day. If I have time to do it lol . .. oo just checked Canada Post my Vista Print order is coming today!!! (I ordered it i think Wed last week picking the slowest shipping method too!) can't wait to see!
