LOL Erin!! love it!!!! I think the Polish name on the invites is 'Polish' enough for them! LOL which btw I still try to practice writing every day to figure out my signature.... damn FI's Polish name!!! so hard to write!!! LOL
-
ok!!! i just emailed the link to FI too and we'll.... i'm not going to repeat what he said LMAO but it was good!! I'm totally going to get it this weekend. for $20 i'd be crazy NOT to!!
-
hahaha love that you took revenge Meggers!!! .. maybe I shold address theirs for our AHR as Victor & Guest .. LOL So - Canadian ladies, out of nowhere today I totally thought of checking out La Vie En Rose's website for bathing suits and cover ups. They have just what i want bathing suit-wise but at $34 a piece, it's too much for me. But check our this cover up! What do you guys think? (I'd get it in turquoise) The price tag on this = only $19.95!!!! My mom was just at the store near her house and said they had a ton, so I'm really thinking of getting one this weekend. http://www.lavieenrose.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10052&productId=98201&langId=-1&errorViewName=ProductDisplayErrorView&categoryId=5004001&productName=DianaWrap&parent_category_rn=5&top_category=5&subCatName=Cover%20Ups&storeName=la%20Vie%20en%20Rose

Bridesmaid dresses ordered
Lua replied to Amanda+Dave's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
i love them! perfect for the beach! -
I think i'm going to polish up the invites on Vista tonight and get them ordered. I'll post a pic when I'm done!!! speaking of invites... we got one in the mail this week for one of FI's good friends' wedding (it's in May) ... you know how it was addressed?!?!?!??! "Chris & Guest"!!! wth! they know we're getting married next month, and know me!! ... so i just had him put on the RSVP Mr & Mrs... LOL
-
yeah, so here's what my "dress" looks like so far!!!! LOL If all goes right tonight, I should have something that will somewhat resemble the top part of a dress!
-
Francine -- I LOVE your dress! Invite problem solved. FI is totally on my side - thank goodness! and agrees that we're only going to add "saturday" with the date, our phone # with the rsvp and then instead of 5-10pm... something like "cocktails at 5pm followed by dinner at 7pm" ... there was also a part about it being in the lower level of the hall that FMIL wanted me to include but we're going to include a map to the location anyway so we're just going to mention lower hall on the map. FMIL doesn't know about our changes and she's not going to until she gets it in the mail, and that's that!!! haha OH! and it only took 4 weeks, but my key card holders FINALLY arrived from Hong Kong!!!!! now I just need to make and print off the inserts (i snagged some avery badge paper from my office so i won't have to worry about cutting them out - score!) I also started sewing my rehersal/AHR dress last night!!! It's pretty daunting so far and I can't see how the little pieces are going to become a dress, but I'm staying hopeful and doing just a little bit each night.

geeze sorry to hear about all your troubles meg!!! sounds like a bad day for most of us all around!!! doesn't help me that it's so GROSS outside right now.. so windy and snowing like mad! we're supposed to get 10cm before it turns to rain!!! ugh....... 4 more weeks... 4 more weeks... Bailey - LOVE the pics btw!!!! i can't wait for my weekend away w/ my mom and sil's!! not this weekend, but next!
-
mocha -- if FI is ok with it i would totally send you local ladies invites!!!! its not like i have any girl friends coming!
-
thanks for the input Brandy aside from adding 'saturday' and phone number i don't want to make any other changes either. hopefully FI sticks up for me and agrees. as for putting something asking people to tell us how many are coming??? i'm pretty sure people would do that anyway. the invites aren't going to a group regardless... they'll be to singles or couples.
-
mocha i was so tempted to write her back but stopped myself because i'd get in trouble! LOL i'm telling you FI's parents just can't grasp the fact that this is NOT a traditional reception... and that it's OURS not theirs!! ... they are basing it all to accomodate THEIR friends.. people i have never heard of or met.... and NO speeches!!! LMAO
-
on another note - Brandy you're invites are looking FANTASTIC!!!
-
*sigh* ... my FMIL is driving me nuts!!!! i'm totally sharing this with you guys because I have no one else to vent to!!! I designed our invites to the AHR last week... parents wanted to see them before we sent off to vista print - fine. we sent to FI's parents just to ask about the timing --- they are paying for it all and booked the hall and such, so we have no idea. and we thought putting a time of 5:00-10:00 would be a stealthy way to let people know that it is just a dinner no dance or speeches. Now remember that -- when FI and I agreed to have it at the hall (we wanted a backyard BBQ) we made it clear to his parents that it will just be dinner NO SPEECHES or dance. Anyway the invite essentially said: Laura (middle name + last name) and Chris (middle name + last name) Will be getting married April 9, 2011 in a small ceremony on the island of Jamaica Please join them for a celebratory Polish feast once they have returned June 25, 2011 5:00pm-10:00pm General Sikorski Hall **address Oshawa, ON Please RSVP via email by May 28, 2011 ***our email address*** Simple and explanatory right???? The working fit the card perfectly and looked good. Are you ready?? ****please tell me if it's just my stress taking over and it really isn't that bad... but I got the feeling that FMIL is essentially re-writing our invites for us*** "Maybe you could say something like …â€.join us for a celebratory get-together of delicious food and drink over great conversation between friends and family†If you plan to have a photo collage running of the wedding in Jamaica, you might want to mention that also somehow. (By the way, people who aren’t going on the trip have expressed their hope that you will do so). How about mentioning Saturday, June 25th Where you say General Sikorski Polish Veteran’s Hall, you should also state (Lower Level). As you know, they can either enter from the front entrance and head down the stairs or come around the back entrance and enter directly through the lower level entrance doors. We feel strongly that some friends who rarely see each other might wish to fully enjoy this opportunity to spend time together and it would be pretty distasteful to insist that they have to leave by 10:00pm. At traditional weddings, the buffet isn’t even served until 11:00pm. If you think about it, by the time they’ve had dinner, then coffee, dessert, etc., time will fly. Maybe one or two of your friends might want to get up and say something. Isn’t Mikey going to sing something? As for the RSVP, we think you should also provide a phone number. Some might prefer to phone rather than email. Something you maybe didn’t think of is that some people will want direction as to a wedding gift. I don’t know if you just want to leave that out and people will maybe phone us folks for direction and/or suggestions to which we would tactfully reply that a monetary gift would be preferable. The other thing is that with the reply cards people usually mail back, they state how many people will be attending. Eg. Our friends from Kitchener – there could be 4 coming or only 2. Of course, you’ll need to know that information in order to know how much food to order from the kitchen. So, it should maybe read as follows: “Please reply giving number of persons attending by May 28th to: our phone # and email" To be 100% honest, I really wish I didn't have to go through with this AHR.... ugh!!
-
Good for you Meg!!! although a month in advance might not be enough time for some people ???? i know our friends/family are so busy nowadays that we're trying to get our AHR invites out before we leave for Jamaica asking for rsvp by May 28 ... our AHR is June 25

Lisa - interesting to hear your review on your whitening!! I think I told you all a while back how my new dentist gave me free whitening??? anyway, it was a take-home kit -- pro-syner.something lol.. i think i tried it for 3 days in a row. the last day i used it, some got on my gums and they started burning and turned WHITE!!!! that was 3 weeks ago and I haven't used it since. they did also make my teeth really sensitive. I was drinking everything with a straw for 3 weeks..... i do notice a difference though and am contemplating doing it again at least twice more before the trip

yay!!! finally our WC has confirmed that she got all of our notarized paperwork and all is a-ok!! she's going to email me thursday with more information to finally start planning the day!! it's been making me nervous not knowing any details yet!!! at least she's told me that we aren't going to have to pay as much extra $ as I thought for our extra guests we went with the FREE wedding package which accomodates us and 10 guests. Each additional guest is only $10.50/pp for extra cake, champagne and set up so that's really pretty reasonable in my mind!

OMg the April girls are definitely going to rock the plannng threads!!! can't wait to see them all finished!! I've been working on mine and plan to post the day or 2 before I go. FI has to work the mon&tues before we leave, so that will give me something to do rather than just be hyper! lol
-
it's getting so annoying having to keep bugging FI to bug his parents to give us answers. we sent our rough drafts of the invites to both sets of parents on the same day. mine got back to us the next morning! LOL ..... darn in laws! on a good note, my cousin just booked to come!!!! she thought all along that she wouldn't be able to come because of exams, but she just found out that she doesn't have any this semester! yay!!
-
they look great brandy!!!! we're just waiting on FI's parents to 'ok' us putting the time 5:00-10:00pm on our invites (as our way to say it's just a dinner, not a dance) ... but damn!!! they are sooo bad at getting bak to us!!! I have our invites designed and we literally just need their ok on the time so i can upload to Vista print and get them done!! got a deal of only $61 for 100!
-
So happy to hear that Erin!!!

Huge to-do (once you get back)
Lua replied to futuremrswalls's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
note to Canadian brides: I just checked passport Canada and it is NOT free for us. (boo!) You have to go through the entire application process right from the start to get your new passport in your new name. I remember confirming this with them before because I literally had to pay to renew my passport just for our wedding trip only to have to pay AGAIN and get a new one once we get our marriage certificate. -
Yeah, you'd think a store like old navy would have some selection now that march break is next week!!!! I do LOVE VS bathing suits brandy but the shipping is just WAY too much for me.... also i've been having a horrible time getting things from the US quickly and dont' want to chance it not getting here... it took like 3 weeks for my lanyards to come.... ordered a cover for my new cell phone almost 3 weeks ago too and that hasn't even come yet!!
