  1. I think the big thing about security enforcing the rules has to do much with group size and noise. If your nanny is quietly coming over to care for your children, I don't think you will hear anything. If you have a large group making a lot of noise in the hot tub at 10pm, you will likely hear from security. But we were there getting married 2 years ago, and usually had a least one other couple over in the evening for a dip in the hot tub, with no issues. But we were simply relaxing in the hot tub and talking quietly. It will also depend a lot on who your "neighbours" are. Some people will complain quickly and hence security will be there quickly and more often. Good luck!
  2. Welcome to the forum Tara! I wish we could offer more direct answers, but I don't know that any of us have been to the Sensatori Negril yet. (last I checked I think it was still under renovation) So I am not sure if it will be the same as the Sensatori in the Mayan. Overall, Azul Sensatori is a lovely resort, with great food and service. There are plenty of daytime activities (soccer, volleyball, water aerobics, games, water craft-kayaks, etc.) and then the evenings there is live music and an entertainment show. However it is not a crazy loud/party resort, since it really is family oriented. So if any of your guests have children....they will love it! I got married there 2 years ago, and we had 63 guests ranging in age from 8 months to 73. Everyone loved the resort and the atmosphere! You can also check out the Official thread which might help answer more questions: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread
  3. Hello ladies. Thought this might be useful. It is a copy of the actual customs form declaration with the rules as of May 2013. (I would guess it could change at some point, but it is current right now)
  4. Welcome! We have used the Wal-Mart in Cancun for certain items. But they will not always have the same selection of items you see at home. Be prepared to be flexible with your ideas because of this. If you want to use an outside florist you will have to pay the $800 outside vendor fee, and make sure they are approved first to be allowed onto the resort property. So I don't know if the cost is worth it. There is a very large selection of flowers and prices even through Lomas that you should be able to find something that works for you. I know many girls have done Real touch flowers and just brought them along in their luggage which seems to work out very well. For tips, and other helpful information read up on the Official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread
  5. Welcome to the forum! Try the Official thread for photos and more details on the hotel. There are quite a few links for wedding photos in there as well. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread Overall, it is fairly quiet. Please remember it is a family resort, and hence many people have children and head to bed early. There is a live show every night around 830-9pm (this includes acrobats, music, dancing, etc.). Once the live show finishes (about an hour) there is a live band at the Mojioto lounge that plays til about 1am. They are always fun, and there dance floor right by the band. The teen's club technically becomes a dance club...but this is really only fun if you travel with a large group and sort take over the space
  6. Welcome to the forum! And congratulations on booking your date There are lots of special details to choose from, and there is lots of information for you here! Please check out the Official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread You will find all the package details, private dinner ideas, entertainment, and a great section on travel to Mexico! And if you have any other questions, just ask! Good luck with your wedding planning!
  7. The official Bridal roll call list is being kept up to date on the official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread/10#post_1858611 Yes, it is usually considered polite to feed the photographer...if you are paying them to take photographs of the reception. Enquire with your WC since I have been told they have special meals for vendors which are cheaper (a sort of boxed meal). If you just want the wedding ceremony and a couple of formal family poses an hour will be fine. But if you want any special ones, or photos of getting ready you will want to add a few hours. Check the official thread to see who your twin is under the Bridal Roll call section: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread/10#post_1858611 I have answered this on the official thread. But don't panic your dress will be fine! If you look at the Official thread under the wedding location section there is a photo of the rooftop terrace/theatre area which is the backup location for rain weather! It's actually quite nice and has a beautiful view! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread/10#post_1858611 But don't panic the weather changes constantly in Mexico! So don't stress to much, get down there and wait and see
  8. Unfortunately most airplanes do not have closets anymore. Try to board the plane as soon as you can to reserve space in the overhead bin....yes this is the only place to store your dress. To help your dress travel well, I would suggest hanging it in a good garment bag, and if possible hang white tissue paper around it. This way if you have to fold your dress to place it in the overhead bin, the tissue paper helps the dress from creasing. As well, make sure your dress goes on top of bags...not under them! But don't worry, I think the vast majority of us brides have all travelled this way, and the dresses have survived!
  9. I have added you to the official Bridal roll call, and it looks like you are our first August bride! Okay- let's try to answer everything: - Chair sashes- can be any fabric, just depends on the look you want. Like Allie mentioned the organza are much more see through, compared to satin. - Technically you will not need receipts for your decor, but I would bring the email receipts just in case. Customs just want to make sure you are not bringing things into the country to sell. And that being said, you will likely only have to show things to customs if you get the red light! Simply state it is decor for your wedding. - Fabric choice for the gazebo is personal. But the dimensions are all listed on the Official thread (as well lots of helpful tips about customs/airport/etc) : http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread - Dimensions for the Zavas gazebo are on the official thread, but I am not sure what length you would need for lights. Hopefully the photo will help. I think if you are hanging lights that will be plenty, so I don't think you have to worry about lights for inside the lanterns. Good luck!
  10. No coconut drinks for me! I'm 5 months pregnant And I am back home and at work...sigh. Missing the beach already.
  11. Welcome to the forum! I have added you onto the official bridal roll call. For more details and info about weddings at the Sensatori check out the official thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread/10 Good luck with your planning.
  12. Welcome back MRS. Jenny! Congratulations and so happy to hear all went well. Love the photos you posted and can't wait to see more!
  13. Welcome! To have a Catholic ceremony, there is an additional cost and you and your guests would have to travel to a chapel. There is one on site at their sister resort El Dorado Royale (but it's adults only). Check out the official thread, there is a list of all the requirements: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread Hope that helps!
  14. To be honest, I much prefer Royale or Sensatori. I think partially they are currently expanding Seaside...too many rooms for their current facilities. And the food is not as good. But the rooms, pools and grounds are beautiful But the weather is gorgeous and I'm in Mexico!
  15. Don't panic! It's Mexico- most times there is a chance of rain. I have been at EDS since Monday and there were 3 days of forecasted rain. So far we have seen 10 minutes! It usually is just a sun shower!
  16. Welcome home MRS! So happy all went well, look forward to seeing some photos. As well, if any brides are heading down soon, could someone measure the yoga palapa if they get a chance? Thanks.
  17. Deciding where to host your wedding and guests can be extremely difficult. A few good questions for you: do you have guests with children?, or adults only?, is a good beach important?, service?, food?, drink variety?, as well as overall cost. Are you travelling from Canada, USA, UK? What can you and your guests afford? Hopefully by answering these questions you can narrow down your choices. The free bonuses are easier to come by if you use a GI certified travel agent, since they are the direct contact for Karisma resorts and know what promotions are available. I can recommend Wright Travel- http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/80338/karisma-hotels-givc-and-gi-wedding-consultants-wright-travel-agency They can help you and your guests with all the planning and booking. Right now I know the free wedding package is not available to Canadian brides, but again things change constantly. If you have specific questions about the resort or any of the other Karisma properties feel free to ask? (El Dorado properties, adults only; Azul properties, family friendly)
  18. My husband and I have travelled to Mexico, a least twice a year for the last 6 years, and we have never had an issue with food related illness at the Karisma resorts. Often people that fall ill, it is too much alcohol, dehydrated , or using tap water. If you make sure to brush your teeth with bottled water (which is provided), drink enough water; you and your guests should be fine. They do put a lot of effort into their food safety. Also just so you know all the ice is safe.
