I guess thats all I have so far in my wedding planning... I look forward to sharing this wedding planning time with you all Kathy Hi Kathy, so excited that your STD magnets are on the way! I had the same feeling back a few months ago....just wait for the day that little box appears in your mailbox The dress looks beautiful! But I would go to a salon at try some similar styles on first (or that dress specifically if you can) before ordering online. I had a picture in my mind of what style I was going to wear. And after going to a number of different salons and trying that style on...just wasn't feeling it. Now I have a 'surprise' dress! Tried something completely different on, and feel in love! So you never know Great color choices! FI and I are still trying to figure that out. Our invites were black, turquoise and lime green. Thinking of sticking with the turquoise and lime green....but also really know my flowers will be white, purple and pink (a tribute to my mother). So not sure if those should be the colors...Silly things that make you stress! Good luck with your planning!
  2. Oh my goodness! All these rings are all so unique and beautiful. My FI knew I didn't want a traditional ring, and so he took it upon himself to have his jeweler custom design this ring with a tanzinite stone it in. Plus it's a flush mount...since I am a klutz and would destroy or lose a mounted stone in a day Sorry, my image didn't work. i will try a different photo later.
  3. Welcome Season! It's wonderful to meet another AS bride...who knows we may actually run into each other. Our wedding date is January 24! Best of luck with your planning. And keep in touch

Congratulations! Best of luck with your planning, this site is amazing for learning all sorts of wonderful things
  5. Best of luck with your wedding plans! I know this forum has been a wealth of information for me. Just do a search under the resort name, and I am sure you will find plenty of information. Sometimes it's almost overwhelming how much stuff there is in this forum
  6. Congratulations! And good luck with your planning.
  7. Welcome to another January bride! We are getting married on January 24 at the Azul Sensatori resort, just south of Cancun
  8. Personally I love Mexico...so I would go with Tulum. But choose the resort that fits you and your guests best (flights, resort, price, etc.) The Dominican is stunning as well. I have travelled to both. And both locations have tons of activies to do. Good luck with your planning. And if there is any info we can help with, just ask!
  9. Ohhh...we love secrets! Best wishes to you and your FI. And hope you manage to find all the information you need to make your wedding beautiful
  10. I hope you had a wonderful wedding in Both of your dresses! Best wishes!

It was the most beautiful day ever and I want to do it all again! I"m so tired right now, so I'm going to be short, but all I can say is it is a FANTASTIC place to get married. No one has any reason to worry at all. I will post pictures as soon as I get some from friends. If anyone wants to add me on facebook to see pics, please do (meghan yao!) Congratulations Meghan! Thrilled to hear it was everything and more. And great to hear there were no problems...makes me realize I have nothing to worry about! Now get some rest and enjoy being a newlywed!

I'm going on Monday with my sisters, mom, & FH's sister to take a look at it. To be honest, I haven't seen it yet in person, just online. But, it's up my alley. Have a wonderful 4th of July!! The dresses look great! Do you know your wedding colors yet? I am still having a hard time figuring this one out

(I am so jealous...wine tasting, kayking...they are even chartering a plane to go to the Channel Islands...me and my friends are far too broke to do anything but oh well glad he gets to have a nice weekend off.) I figured that would be a great time to do this because I could be gone all day and he wouldnt know what was up. But the it's only 1/2 half out. I need to get my butt in gear and tone up, tone up, tone up!!! You really should go for it! Don't worry too much about the things you don't like...concentrate on what you do like. I love my back and the photog that I used for my boudoir shots, used this as a starting point. Go with what you're comfortable with, and then feel it out. Remember your FI loves you for you! And will be thrilled to recieve such a wonderful exciting and thoughtful gift like this. I bought a cheap set of satin sheets to drape across me to hide certain areas, and it turned out looking sexy and intriguing. Take a few different pieces of sexy lingerie, and one of your FI shirts to wear! I wore one of my FI dress shirts and it turned out to one of his favorite shots. Good luck and have fun with it!

I am getting married on January 24, 2011 at the Azul Sensatori, Mayan Riviera. I agree picking the resort and getting the pricing was very stressful. Now we have sent out our invites and are waiting for the rest to happen. We are doing online RSVP, I had set up a website through ewedding.com . Congratulations on getting Phil as your photographer. He does wonderful work, and Michael work is beautiful as well. We are flying in our photographer to Mexico with us. I was stunned at how expensive it was for local photographers and we found someone locally, here in Toronto, who does great work. Taylor Jackson is his name. I can't wait to do the TTD!

  16. I didn't think I would have a lace dress....not at all what I had been looking at or trying on. Then passed this dress on the rack, it was the only one...and feel in love! It's a Pronovias Deseo. http://72.232.198.18/manufcols/prono...om/Deseo_B.jpg Now I just have to get it hemmed (a lot...I'm only 5'3"). But I love the romantic look of the lace.

I just kept thinking how excited FI would be to know I thought enough of him to do something special that took me out my normal box. :-) It was so hard to just let myself go and while my friend was really comfy and funny during the shoot, I kept finding myself trying to stay covered up! It was weird, almost like I didn't want to offend him by flashing him! LOL I went to HS with his wife and I kept trying to be "respectful" of her. LOL They are by no means the best of work and he's just starting out and I think it shows in some of the photos (or maybe it was just me). :-) Check 'em out! Congratulations! I am sure the photos are beautiful! And you should be very proud of yourself that you did it. I am sure your FI was both surprised and thrilled I did a Bedroom photo shoot for FI for Christmas a few years back. It is nerve wreaking...but now I look back at those photos with pride. And my FI loved the photobook! Love the idea of maybe doing some new ones to give him just before the wedding....hmmm....
  19. Wow, just finished reading all the pages and can't wait to join the discussions! I am a January 24, 2011 bride at the Azul Sensatori. As for planning, well I always feel I have no idea what I'm doing but: STD were sent out months ago. We found a wonderful travel agency who deals with nothing but destination weddings, so tons of knowledge (Weddings By Oceans), and they got us amazing pricing for our resort. We put down a deposit to hold seats on the plane, and sent out the invitations about 2 weeks ago. I know it might seem a little early, but we want to give everyone enough time to plan for it. Have an amazing photographer booked, Taylor Jackson, he's cute as a button! Found my BM dresses. And accidently found my dress just the other day. I ended up buying a dress, that is nothing like what I had pictured! But I tried it on and knew it was the one Once I figure out how to upload a picture I will post it(but I am horrible at computers) Now have to deal with finding GM clothing and preparing OOT bags. We plan on trying to buy a lot of the stuff to go into the OOT bags in Mexico, it will save a lot of room and weight in our bags. (chocolates, postcards to be used instead of a guest book, local craft/art?, etc) Anyway so excited to be joining all of you, and can't wait to chit chat!
  20. January 24, 2011 at the Azul Sensatori! Can't wait. Still so much to learn and plan. But we have our photographer (Taylor Jackson), travel agent (Weddings By Oceans), bridesmaid dresses....so we have started Now just for everything else! hee hee
  21. I am sort of the opposite. I have 3 BM's and my FI has 5 groomsmen. At the end of the day, I didn't want to ask people just for the sake of asking. I want the people who are standing for us to have meaning. Our plan is for the groomsmen to be up front, and then just have the bridesmaids walk down the aisle. As for the exit...who cares it's a beach, casual,...and You just got married! No one will remember who walked who down the aisle. Relax and go with the flow. There are no rules, make your own! It's your day enjoy it.
  22. I lost my father many years ago to cancer, and my mother will not be able to attend since she is now in a nursing home. We plan on having one of our bridesmaids/ or groomsmen propose a toast during the reception. It will be a toast to celebrate and pay tribute to the wonderful family/people who are no longer with us, but are smiling down on us as we start our new journey. I also plan of wearing a small piece of jewerly my father gave me when I was young, as a tribute to him. And my bouquet will have the same colors my mother's bouquet had at their wedding, as a tribute to her. It is very difficult to not have such important family members close by, and it is hard to find a suitable way to pay tribute. Best wishes, and keep the ideas coming. I would love to get some other ideas.
  23. I think it's a personal decision and also a cost factor. If you can afford to buy the bridemaids dresses because they are travelling down for your wedding, I think that's a wonderful token of appreciation. We wanted a fairly casual wedding, so my bridemaids are wearing nice summer dresses. I have 3 girls standing for me, and the dresses were $50 each. But I have also stood in a number of weddings, and it's been about a 50/50 split as to me paying or the bride paying for the bridesmaid dresses. Just make sure you feel comfortable with your decision....and don't expect the bridesmaids to spend more than about $200 for a dress (since most times they still need alterations, another $50-100).
  24. It's your day! If you want to walk down the aisle yourself, then you should. I would not even bring it up with your father. Simply let everyone know where to be for the ceremony, and then make your stunning entrance! I am walking down the aisle with my sister! There is no right or wrong answers. At the end of the day you have to be happy and calm with the decisions you make, don't bring a situation into your wedding that would add stress. Best wishes and let us know how it goes.

And my TA just suggested Beaches Turks & Caicos...no offense but why in the world would she suggest that 300+ room resort with Sesame Street characters everywhere?! Its actually comical. I don't get how she would think that me saying I love AB's intimacy that BTC would be a plausible suggestion! So sorry to hear AB won't work anymore. My FI and I stayed at the El Dorado Casitas Royale, this past April. It's pricey (not sure what you were quoted for AB). But that part of the resort has seperate areas of suites, each 12-15 rooms has it's own pool, and bartender. I am sure if the price works, you could request to have all your guests stay in one 'area' and it would give you a very cozy small feel, even though the entire resort is quite large. No children though, adults only. The food is wonderful, and they have a shuttle (golf carts) to take you to the main resort should you wish too. I do have some pictures, if can send to you...or attempt to learn how to post them I know how difficult it is to decide on a resort, I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to start over again. How many guests to you have? I have also heard wonderful things of a boutique hotel called Zebra, south end of the Mayan Riveria. But it's really small, I think 10 rooms. Good luck!
