I have my dress as well, STD's sent out, BM dresses ordered, GM attire picked out but waiting for them all to get measured, and that's about it. We have booked a site visit July 26-29 and I cannot wait to see the resort and get more things checked off the list!!! We will hopefully have a very productive trip and pick out our wedding package, reception venue, menu, flowers, etc., meet with photographer, and get hair/makeup trial -- pheeww, that's a lot to do in 4 days! You mentioned getting amazing pricing for your resort -- would you mind sharing what kind of rates you were able to get? We are working with Beach Bum Vacation, also DW specialists. But we did not go the group rate route, and instead are doing individual bookings because we think guests will ultimately get a better deal. I am always curious as to what rates others are getting because I want to make sure we are getting the best rates possible for our guests. The only thing stressing me out about planning our wedding is how much it's costing our guests We have guests coming from all over Canada. So we only arranged for group rates from Toronto and Ottawa. But our TA managed to arranage a special land only rate (ie hotel cost), so our guests just have to get a flight, if they are travelling from anywhere other than Toronto and Ottawa. I am not sure I can post the prices, but take a look at my website under the Travel Info section. All the info is listed there. miriamandluke.com And a picture of my dress: http://72.232.198.18/manufcols/prono...om/Deseo_B.jpg So not what I had expected to wear, but it's very romantic and I feel a little Spanish looking -

I will be honest and say that I was on the fence about them and almost hesitated to send them out. We found an awesome seller on Etsy and while I loved all of her other work and samples, I don't think my idea translated over well via email. I wanted something very natural and organic. I love raffia and we are using Burnt Orange as our main color with sand brown and white as accents. After seeing our STD's, I am starting to think we might need another bright accent color. I am a tomboy and not a big fan of pink, so that color is out, although I have seen other weddings and I think those two colors are beautiful together. Any suggestions of an accent color to go with burnt orange that don't give off a "fall wedding" feel are greatly appreciated. Because I know how much we all love photos, my STD's that I sent out are below. We placed thins self-adhesive magnets on the rear so that people could place them on their fridge if they chose to. Any ideas for a pretty accent color?? You could easily do a deep blue or maybe a bright sunshine yellow. I am still trying to figure out colors myself....

Hi Sima, you will find it hard to book packages that far in advance, especially since most of them deal with charter airlines that rarely have information for more than a year in advance. I don't know about the UK, but do some searches online or on this forum for travel agents that deal specifically with destination weddings. (I live in Canada and found a wonderful travel agent, Weddings By Oceans, who could get us information/prices about a year in advance) I am sure there should be something similar in the UK. The two resorts you have listed are both good resorts and are very large. My fiancee and I wanted everything a large resort offered but in a smaller package. We choose the Azul Sensatori, and when we did our site inspection in April, I was very surprised to find many guests were from the UK. You may find this to be a suitable option for you as well. Best of luck with your planning.

Courtney Hi Courtney, It's a TTD for your wedding dress...not a different dress! I say do it Plus most people I have spoken to say that jumping into a pool or the ocean didn't seem to affect the dress at all. Once the TTD is done, just rinse the dress off in the shower and let it dry! Hope you got the dress of your dreams! -

And we sent out our STD magnets in February 2010...almost a year ahead of time. I think it's helpful for people to know when/where, so that they can plan ahead and /or book vacation time if they need to! We are thinking of maybe going to Cozumel for the second week...but still totally up in the air.... We have booked for 14 days. We plan on arriving a couple of days ahead of the guests, so that we can spend that time talking and organizing with the wedding coordinator, etc. We also plan on buying some of our OOT bag supplies locally to try and save room/weight in our luggage. We plan on buying some local Mexican chocolate, and souvenirs. We also plan on buying a bunch of postcards, which will become our "Guest book". We will ask guests to fill in their favorite memory of the trip and mail the postcard before they leave for home. So we will need to find a local post office for postage. Then once all the guests have departed we will still have 4 days to relax and enjoy. We will be at the Sensatori the whole time. I don't want to repack. (we had to do that on our site inspection trip, because the hotel was overbooked for the first 3 days. And it honestly ate up a days' time, just repacking, transfer and then settling into the next place.)

Any 2011 Brides out there?

I wonder if the bride's hair and makeup, and the manicure & pedicure can be transferred to someone else as well, if you use an outside vendor? Or is it just the massages that's transferable? Yeah, over 200 bucks with tip for hair & makeup is WAY overpriced. Also, just a heads up if you didn't notice the manicure is 59 and pedicure is 79! I warned my girls go at home before the trip! I was originally going to get my 8 BM's their jewelry, a monogrammed travel cosmetic/toiletry case, and then pay for them to get their hair done while we're there. When I factored what those things would cost, I decided instead to just buy them their dresses instead. It's more practical and more appreciated! And that way, if that 75 spa credit is offered when they book their trips, they can just use that toward getting their hair done. I'm sure most if not all the girls wil just do their own makeup at that cost. QA I checked with about 5 or 6 hair stylists and Waves was the best deal I found. Their website is Waves Beauty Salon Playa del Carmen by Canadian Hairstylist Trevor Kohlman | Wavesplaya.com I would almost consider seeing if you can pay someone in your group to learn how to do hair and then have them do your bridesmaid's hair. Going offsite will likely be too time consuming and likely not cheaper. Go luck and let us know how it goes! -
