That's what I remember...was trying to figure out if I could drape fabric or hang lights to decorate it? Honestly, melt down does not describe the way I feel right now. I am more like a valcano ready to erupt. And today's my son's 1st birthday. This morning was just perfect, we played and open presents, went out to breakfast and now all of this. Sorry to hear your TA is not helping the situation. As for the groomsmen, any chance they could order the suits from another city? Depending on the store, or the brand you might be able to find it somewhere else. (Keeping my fingers crossed for you!) Happy Birthday to your son! Quote: Originally Posted by beaz2be PPS - It's my birthday today and I just looked at my profile thing on the side and my age has changed. BOO! haha Happy Birthday! FI and I are possibly thinking of doing a beach BBQ for our reception, but I would love to see the spot again before we decide! Thanks Miriam
  3. What a great job! When I get around to doing mine, I might use some of your ideas if you don't mind

I know even if we pay, we can't take more than 3 bags each. And there are weight restrictions, hence why we are buying a lot of the OOT bag fillers down there. I feel like there's so much information on this forum tho' that I don't really know what I'll need her to look into. :-) Still, fun to have a scout. If you could ask your friend to take a few pictures of the back end of the Mexican restaurant (the patio) and of the beach bbq area, I would greatly appreciate it. But if you need it, I know a lot of malls in Toronto have stalls in the hallways that sell Spanx.

Marriage and Equality - Equality in Marriage Institute http://www.equalityinmarriage.org/cc.pdf Thanks for these posts. FI and I are trying to find a non-religous premarital course in Toronto, but incase we don't at least we have some resources to follow now.
  6. Thanks for the review. Even though I am heading to Azul Sensatori, it's great to hear about the service, since it's the same company!

    Newbie

Congratulations! And welcome. I know I have gained a ton of knowledge on here.

I cannot wait till I am done planning! One of the things we made was the fake mustache and lips as props for our guest picture book. It was so much fun!!! FYI - I have reached the junior status!!! Horay!!!! Congratulations on Junior status! Cute job on the props! I am sure the pictures will be fabulous. For the avatar photo...it took me forever...but I tried downloading a picture from my computer (which the file size was too large). So I simply cut and pasted the photo into Paintbrush and changed the file size in there. Then resaved the 'new' photo to the desktop and uploaded to BDW. Hope that helps. As for OOT bags. I am sewing all the bags myself, so I can customize the colors. And other than a few small items, we play on buying a lot of the fillers once we arrive in Mexico (we get there 3 days ahead of guests). That's how we are trying to cut down bulk, but I am sure it will still take a small duffel at least for me to take it down with us.

And I am sure FI is thrilled to have his friend with him
  12. Thanks for all the information ladies! Now I will just have to find pictures of the types of flowers so I can decide what I want.

Hee hee...agree about the suit price! But it makes me feel better about how much I spent on my dress! Love the bouquet charms. Where did you find those? My dad passed away 11 years ago, and I would love to have something to represent him. I had not really figured out how to work him in yet. Although I know we will have one of the BM or GM do a toast for those that can't make it, but are with us in spirit.
  14. So sorry to hear you lost your Papa. It is really hard to lose someone suddenly and feel lost in the world. Stay close to your family and friends for support, and know everyone is thinking of you during this difficult time.

Tell your TA, I saw a promotion about bride/groom stay free, etc.; is there anything similar available now? They may even extend part of the deal to you just for mentioning it
  16. The Flowers look great nmurch! And I have to giggle that both our FI's found Hugo Boss suits! As for flowers, I don't really have a set type of flower in mind, just colors. I know my bouquet has to be white, purple and pink. It's a tribute to my Mom, since she is in a nursing home and won't be able to attend. And those are the colors of her wedding bouquet. I will really have to check out the sticky about local Mexico flowers. Hope the page has pictures!
  17. Welcome and good luck with your planning!

And, I watched Big Brother Wednesday (or maybe it was Tuesday) and one of the houseguests was trying to spell journeyman to win a challenge. I was like "I know what that is now!!" It's sad how the silly things make me happy these days. LOL! It's amazing where you learn little things
  19. Hi! I just found the Toronto posting... hopefully I will get to know you all soon Hope everyone's planning is going well. Right now trying to get FI to decide what he wants the groomsmen to wear. Talk to you soon! Miriam

Did you have your TA dealing with the WC from Karisma? So far my TA basically says that I'm supposed to deal with the WC by myself and that she doesn't usually get involved in that part of it. She just strictly does the travel planning part. This wouldn't bother me so much (because really I like to do things myself and trust myself more than I trust her) if I didn't feel like her pressure and input might have more influence than mine because she's part of the whole industry?!?! Any advice? I will definitely take AmyKH's words to heart and assume that Carolina has my back and will do her best to get me a great deal. I'm just worried that my TA might need to be involved too. Thus far, she hasn't been much (other than me cc'ing her on emails). We haven't really had to deal with the resort planning part yet. But our TA deals only with destination weddings and deals a lot with Karisma. So it's a bit of a bonus for us. Eventually in the fall, we will sit down with our TA, who will deal directly with the WC for us. Makes it easier for me, to talk directly to our TA and tell her what we require. She will then deal with the WC for us, and report back. Plus it means we have someone who is bargining from our corner I am sure there are many things that need to be planned in advance, but it also sounds like the WC onsite are fabulous at last minute details (like the decor, problem solving, etc.).
  21. So sorry to hear the news. If it helps I know Westjet was flying down there last year, so maybe they are doing the direct flight again this year? If they are, they may also offer a package to your hotel, although it may be a different price than with Sunquest. Good luck
  22. I agree with not inviting people to the shower that are not invited to the wedding. But I have a different issue. So many of our guests are from all over the country. Do I just invite those people who I think might be able to attend? (ie locally or close by) or invite everyone and wait and see if they attend? My FI mother is throwing me a shower in October and wants a list of those people I would like to invite. And I don't know what I should be doing? Any help?
