Welcome! Good luck with your planning, this site has lots of great information and helpful advice. I can't help you with your choice locations...I have only been through St. Thomas and the Bahamas on cruise ships. But if you do a few searches, I am sure you'll find lots of info.

Any 2011 Brides out there?
murmel replied to Nicyx's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Honestly, I am not sure how you would use them for a group rate. FI and I have just used this site quite often to book travel for ourselves. It looks like they offer some group rate promotions (check the bottom of their website under Group Travel-21st passenger free hotel, 22nd passenger free air). But it seems like you just tell your TA to book them though, or maybe call them directly. Hope that helps- good luck! -
Help! Wedding Dress Let Down
murmel replied to sweetluna's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree with many of the other girls, go back to the store and try it on again. If you are still in love, perhaps there is another bridal salon in the area that has the correct size? And if not, seamstresses are amazing and can make almost anything work! Just be polite, ask for a discount since it's not a new dress and make sure they cover the cost of alterations and cleaning. Good luck. -
Thanks for the info. We are planning on doing something similar with the postcards.

Any 2011 Brides out there?

Funny, usually we find way better deals from the states. FI and I drive to Buffalo all the time to get your prices! LOL! Have you tried Apple Vacations? I know we had looked at their prices to compare, and it wasn't bad at the time. Good luck. Nikki-love the blue shoes! I am still trying to figure out what to put on my feet...maybe I'll pass a window... -

murmel replied to TammyWright's topic in Forum News & Updates
I just want to say thank you to Tammy and her team for all their hard work. This is an amazing site for us to learn and share everything about destination weddings and more! I know I am horrible at computers and it takes me forever to figure it out, but I can't wait to learn all the new tricks. Thanks again Tammy, and keep up the great work Miriam -

Still a little slow with the new format...I am horrible at computers, so I feel very lost right now. LOL We have booked at the Azul Sensatori and found the prices quite reasonable, however we are coming down from Canada. I would see what your TA can do. When we started we were being quoted $2300, and now we have the price set at $1515 (early bird price). So you might be surprised if you try pushing a little. So cute Maggie. I couldn't see it on the other forum, so lucky I found it here! -
Sorry, I have been a bit busy! Imagine my surprise to find a new forum. It will take a bit of getting used to, but I am sure it will make sense soon. Hmmm....my picture doesn't work anymore. Going to have to figure that one out later It seems to be the norm from what I have seen. Prices are good, and shipping is average from any other printer. Overall we have found the "FREE" promotions are still a great price. I think I missed you. But wishing you all the best for your wedding down south! Hope the weather is wonderful and you have lots of fun I had planned on meeting everyone as they arrived. I will have to borrow the spreadsheet idea to keep myself on track. Love having both colors. If you want the girls all in the same color dress, then perhaps a shawl or flowers of the other color to tie it all together? No the water is not brown! (silly tripadvisor) We were down there in April. The beach right in front of the resort has a fair bit of coral, so it can be a bit tricky to walk into. As well there is seaweed, but the resort scoops it up 2 times a day. Besides it's the ocean, it's normal to have some seaweed. If you want the perfect sand beach, sand walking into the water....walk north along the beach for about 5 minutes. Just at the point the water is stunning and no coral! I don't know about anymore else, but neither FI or I have ever managed to get our cell phones to work down there Your hair will hold better, if you wash it the night before. FI and I stayed at the El Dorado Casitis in April for a few days. It was a lovely experience. Very private and quiet, so it would be great for a honeymoon. There was also tons of resturants and if you stayed in the Casitis section, they had beach butlers that brought you food and drinks as you laid at the beach. Not sure if that answers your question? If you want more specific details please ask. I think as long as you tell your guests where and when to be, who cares? Have fun at the bar and enjoy the music together. Both the mojoito bar and the adult bar (by the adult pool) had live music every evening.

Now I am thinking I should ask the store to give me a deal on alterations b/c of the mistake, but I have heard their seamstress is expensive and hard to deal with since no one speaks english there! It does ruin the moment a bit when you put on "your dress" and it doesn't fit...at all! But hopefully we will all end up happy once it fits. Fingers crossed............. Where are you in Canada? If you're in the Toronto area I have a wonderful seamstress and is pretty reasonable pricewise. Good luck!

Just a couple of kids, but we can't do an adults only. We are looking at Barcello Palace and would love to know if you've figured it out! We did a site inspection of a couple of places in April this year. Similar situation, just a couple of kids, so no adults only resort. We ended up choosing the Azul Sensatori. We did look at the Dreams resorts, and Barcelo Maya Palace. Both had great reviews and tons of restaurants and stuff to do. Plus each of these resorts, Dreams and Barcelo had many 'sister' resorts all beside each other. So if guests could not afford the Palace, they might be able to afford the Riviera, etc. The downside is all the resorts together meant many buildings and things could be far apart. As well FI and I wanted a smaller resort, and the Barcelo had over 3000 rooms within its complex. I think the Dreams complex was smaller at about 1800 rooms, if I remember correctly. It just depends on what you're looking for. We stayed at the Grand Pallidum 2 years ago, and it was similar. Food was good, rooms great, but it was all spread out. But you had tons of choices for bars, restaurants and costs. All of these resorts were stunning and I am sure you would be thrilled to stay at either. Just be aware these resorts can also host multiple weddings on the same day. Good luck, and if there are any other questions please ask. -

As for the food...the most important part...how about I'll take care of the main course. I was thinking kabobs. Does anyone have special food allergies? I'll probably do chicken and steak. Let's have everyone sign up below for something they would like to bring: Appetizers Salad Main Kabobs - Sarah Dessert Okay so I will plan for August 5. Could someone PM me with the address/time. I will bring a dessert! Can't wait to meet you all

Mind you the car usually ended up being parked just at the side of the main entrance...we could have taken 5 extra steps and gotten the car ourselves! LOL We only had it for 2 days as well. Keep meaning to check my reciepts, but we had guests, so I will try in the next couple of days. No transport/taxis are at the resort. If you need one, you'll have to get the luggage men to call one for you. However there are usually a few parked just outside on the roadway. I think they sit there hoping for a call. From what we saw it usually took about 5-10 minutes. Not sure what the prices are though.

I needed them. It has been such a rough week. On top of all of the wedding stuff, FI got into a car accident, his family dog was put to sleep this morning and we just found out his aunt is really, really sick. So sad. All the complaining about the wedding seems silly now. (Even though there is so much to say about my TA... I can get into that at another time.) So thanks ladies for listening. Hope your FI is okay. Thinking about you during this hard time, and know that there is lots of support here! Don't worry about feeling behind...we all feel that way. Take care of what is important first.
