I found my Dress!!!!!
murmel replied to MrsHemmings's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
My vote is for dress #1 as well. I love that it has such a unique bottom. But agree with one of the other girls...go with the one you love, and you feel pretty in! -
Wedding Present for your Husband-To-Be
murmel replied to Pixie36's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am also doing a boudoir album, as well as getting him the watch he has been drooling over for years! -
Hopefully Plaza Zavas...although still waiting for confirmation. I'll keep my eyes open for maracas and tequila glasses. What size maracas were you thinking? As for the tall vases, the ones I saw were almost more like large pots. Maybe we have different pictures? Anything specific I can keep my eyes out for? FI and I are going down with friends next week to celebrate my bday Could you email the pictures to me as well please? I would love to get a better idea of what looks good.

You can bring whatever you want. There is a fee for setup though (not much though). My concern was the price per runner here was already $5/runner, and then I still have to pack them and bring them down. I also looking in the gazebo fabric, they require 2 sheer fabric pieces each: 12m x 1 1/2m. Well the cost to rent is $100 for white, and the cost was $8/m here, so I would maybe save $20, but have to travel with it and what do I do with it after....Certain things I will buy, others I'll just rent from Lomas. Originally Posted by nv+gms What were you thinking about centrepieces? Not quite sure yet. We are vacationing next week with friends, but I think one day we'll spend in Cancun shopping. Going to see what available. Something simple though. The main thing I am bringing down are the laterns, about 25-30, in white, turquoise and green. Are you talking about the vases on the Lomas site? I think the ones that stand on the ground would likely be too tall for a table, but not sure we're thinking about the same ones?

I got the same email. For private events white chair covers and white table clothes are provided. However if you want chair sashes or table runners that is extra. I don't want sashes, but we plan on doing the table runners. I have been quoted $7/runner, with your choice of color. (mind you they don't seem to have samples, so I guess you just hope it's the right color)

We plan on having a welcome cocktail party so that people will get to know each other. The next day is the wedding, and then we want to leave it open so people can enjoy their vacation. FI and I plan on doing OOT bags with a welcome letter/booklet. Two things we are thinking about doing, 1) letting everyone know that everyday at 6:30pm (example) we will be at 'this bar' for a pre-dinner cocktail, if they wish to meet up with us. 2) the other thing one of my bridesmaids suggested was a 'bulletin board', maybe on our door? (not sure if the resort will allow this). Where people can place little notes, like Wednesday- going to the ruins, if you want to join contact.....This would allow people to perhaps join up with our guests to do outings/shopping/etc. And the best part you don't have to do the planning!

We will be ordering a bunch of laterns in about a week. Cheapest I have found is at http://www.asianideas.com/10intupala1.html . Including shipping I think I figured it would cost me about $2.75 CDN each. Now I just have to make those 'throwies' (another forum on here about making your own LED/battery pack.) Right now I am planning on about 20-30 laterns in assorted colors/sizes. We hope to have the staff hang some on the gazebo and the others from the trees. I have only come across 2 pictures (sorry I can't remember where). They just had pink laterns hanging from everywhere, and it looked great. I've been reading this board and have found lots of great information, so thanks! I was just curious, did most of you pick one of the wedding packages (pearl, silver, etc) or did you just pick the free package and then add on the things you need? Also, how did you choose between the beach or sky location? I keep going back and forth...decision decisions and I'm just getting started. Oh, and one more....I see talk about different locations for welcome dinners, cocktail parties, etc. What are considered the "most desirable" spots? Thanks ladies! I look forward to learning from your experiences! Welcome aboard! I don't know that any sites are more 'desirable' than others. You and your FI have to choose what best suits you and your guests. We originally had booked for the silver package, and after doing much research realized for us, the free package was all we needed, since we are added tons of stuff anyway. (for us the difference came down to the group dinner at Spoon-which we don't want; and the free bridal bouquet and groom boutinerre. I figured it a was worth about $150 for extra flowers in the free package, compared to $950 for the pearl or $2500 for silver) But read the packages carefully, you may find a certain combination works better for you. As well to qualify for the free package, you have to spend more money on your rooms. So depending on the rates you get, it may be more/less expensive.

Hi Ladies, I will try and plan a get together for late October/early November. In the meantime if anyone is looking for shoes, I just heard about a massive designer sell off. Check out the website petitefeet.ca I am planning on going to the one in Mississauga, later in the month. I am away October 12-19, so I will try and make plans for a get together once I get home.

January 2011 Brides
murmel replied to josietoms's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Any news on your dress nmurch? Do we get to see pictures? I am almost done my DIY luggage tags. Can't wait to have them done and I will post pictures. Also have decided to do a boudoir session as a gift for FI. Booked for November 12, so hopefully it will really encourage me to work out more LOL! We will be sitting down with our TA on Thursday to get the menu and details started, she is kind enough to be the direct link to the WC (plus she seems to get responses back much quicker than I was). How is the planning going for everyone else? -
Well I am booked for November 12! Going to have to go buy some new outfits and really start working out LOL. I ended up going with Renaissance, mostly because they include the hair and makeup in the cost. I am terrible at both, so to have someone do it professionally for me....I am in. I'll let you ladies know how it goes.

Any brides from Canada?

FI wanted a white linen suit. So we picked one up earlier in the summer at Harry Rosen. It's a Hugo Boss suit. We ordered the groomsmen clothing online from Dog Funk. They are wearing Volcom short sleeve dress shirts and shorts. -
show us your rings!
murmel replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
So after months, I have finally have a decent picture of my ring. My FI knew I didn't want a traditional ring, and so he took it upon himself to have his jeweler custom design this ring with a tanzinite stone it in. Plus it's a flush mount...since I am a klutz and would destroy or lose a mounted stone in a day It already is really scratched up (not the stone), and the jeweler just keeps laughing at me. And tells FI that it was a 'great idea' to flush mount it. Mind you, he is an amazing jeweler, and promised me he would polish it up just before the wedding. Plus he is currently in the process of making matching earrings! -
LOL! Love it girls. We sorta have a 'secret' stash...although it's not so secret. We have a large change/coin bowl, and ever few months I count through it, roll up the coins and put them away. We plan on using this to boost our OOT bag budget. It's amazing how much change just lays around, and I think there will be about $500 by the time our wedding rolls around.

Thank you for taking the time to answer the question. I'll have to look into their policies. -
Cheap Pashminas for Canadians

I will have to go check that out! Thanks for the info. -
For the girl who prefers long sleeve, you could always get chiffon sleeves added or a nice shoulder shrug. I am sure things will work out in the end! Sending positive thoughts

"Lounge" furniture? vendors in Cancun
murmel replied to stevensFiance's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Great question. To either of the vendors, have you ever supplied furniture for the Azul Sensatori? Having a wedding in January with about 60 guests and thinking about the lounge furniture for a cocktail party. -
Sorry that so many things don't seem to be working out right now. Take a deep breath and know that you will have a beautiful wedding no matter who manages to make it or not. I was so stressed about it at the start and now realize it's about things we can't control, so try to adjust and move forward. It sucks that you had to have a dress custom made. But you still have two wonderful friends who both are coming down to be with you! Can the dress be altered to fit one of them perhaps? Good luck, and know you're not alone! Let us know how it goes.

So I emailed my friend, she still has the ties. And they were bright lime green! She is going to try and take a photo so you can see the colors. She bought them for $49US each, and will sell them for $20 each, if they work for you. I'll send you the pic when I get it. -

We are doing OOT bags, I am currently sewing them all myself (I'll post pictures once I'm done). We plan on trying to find those individual packs of Tynelol, Pepto, etc., we are also included lip balm with SPF. Other than that we get down ahead of our guests, and plan on buying treats locally (chocolates, candy, snacks, small tissue pack, etc.). I am trying to buy it down there to cut down on weight, plus we can't bring food with us anyway. If you find any place in town that has the single Tynelol packs let me know. Right now I think I'll have to order them from the States. Here's the general list we have so far: ribbon and name tags to mark bags guest phone/room directory list welcome letter, with info about cocktail party, wedding, etc. photo share info card (make a photo account on Snapfish, where everyone can share photos) local chocolates Snacks postcards (2- one for guestbook, one for personal use) Pepto-Bismol Advil Tums Basic Spanish translations (print myself) bandaids chap stick hand sanitizer gum pens pack of cards? small package of laundry soap? There is some amazing stuff! I just am so worried about weight I am trying to keep it to the basics! -
For any of the Toronto ladies, I am planning on ordering my paper laterns from http://www.asianideas.com/lanterns2.html in the next few days. If you want to add some to the order and we can share shipping, just PM me! On another note, I'll be in Mexico Oct 12-19, at another resort , but close with some friends to celebrate my birthday! So I might try and drop by the Azul to talk with the WC there, and maybe run into Chong or Amanda! Have a great trip girls, I am sure you are busy packing now. Can't wait to hear the details and see the photos.

It is tricky! If I see any around I'll let you know. How many do you need anyway? (a friend of mine got married last year, and they originally had lime green ties, but then went with purple. I'll email her and see if she still has them around. On another note, if there are any Toronto brides who want to order paper laterns for cheap I am ordering from http://www.asianideas.com/lanterns2.html in the next day or so. If you want to jump onto the order we could share shipping costs. Just PM and let me know! -
