Any 2011 Brides out there?
murmel replied to Nicyx's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Lisa, the store I went to was in the little strip mall Steeles/Mclaughlin. They actually had about 4-5 styles of turquoise. But the only ones tall enough for me, were not cut to fit my foot. However they had some really nice green ones. They also had tons of really nice jewelery (mostly set with yellow gold tones-can't remember if you had white or yellow gold). So I didn't buy shoes, but I did buy some beautiful braclets ($10)! I will keep searching and let you know -

I may have found a place for shoes.(I am trying to find turquoise heels) Anyway living in Brampton there are tons of Indian dress stores and to my surprise they carry shoes to match all the beautiful bright saris, etc. Found a shop and will go back today to check the colors! Keeping my fingers crossed! -
I know other brides have used 'real touch' flowers and have not had any problems. We are bringing our OOT bags (the actual bags-which I am busy sewing right now 24 done....10more to go). We also plan on bringing down the stuff for the 'first aid kits' and the welcome letter. But we are going to buy local treats/snacks and a small souviener when we arrive. We are renting a car before our guests arrive. Not sure if they accept shipped items. I think they just don't want to take responsibilty for the items....ie. if they get misplaced.

Working with Angie. She is nice, but seems to be fairly new, so anything unusual seems to be very tricky and takes forever to get her to find answers. Still trying to sort details, and my wedding is Jan 24. Congrats! And so happy to hear everything went well You look so calm and serene....just beautiful! If you want to go swimming, it's just a little rocky/ coral. But it's great for snorkeling...since a coral reef is right there! For a nice spot with no rocks in the water, walk about 500 yards north- just don't go to far...nudist resort just past the nice sandy area. So glad you are happy! Have fun looking for new jewelery....I still need to do that too!

Welcome! You will find so much helpful information here I'm getting married just days after you in Mexico! Good luck and have fun planning.

We were told we had to pay our balance by Dec 6! I don't have a clue. Was on the phone with my WC this morning, only to get the update sheet in the afternoon, with still a bunch of info missing or wrong. So off goes another email, and hopefully tomorrow a bit further along. Quote: Originally Posted by dstinationdrmr Quote: I'll get the details from my sister and PM you. A good stress reliever and escape from wedding planning. I did down a bottle of wine while there so that may have added to it! Lol. I wish I could have had a bottle of wine! I had to drive LOL But I am really happy with how it went. The photographer was wonderful. She was so positive and had great suggestions it went flawlessly. Now just to await the teasers and the photos! If you could ask your sister: 1) how do you contact the nanny? 2) do they have a long wait list? ie. to you have to make reservations a few days in advance? 3) approximate cost? Thanks so much! Also just curious, did they have a microphone/speaker you used during your ceremony? Trying to figure out if this is included or an extra I have to rent? So excited for you! Best wishes and have fun

Thanks Bonnie! I will check Zappos again...maybe there's something new. Nicyx....love love LOVE the beading. What a fabulous dress! So excited for you. And perfect for a beach wedding. -
I am having similar issues....technically I think we are suppose to pay everything in a little over a week, and I just got to see my detail sheet last week (for the first time), and there was nothing there. Seems like I am starting from scratch and all the questions seem to take months to get back to me. I am at this point calling my TA, the WC and another WC all at the same time to try and get some answers....I am suppose to hear from them on Wednesday. I'll let you know!

Great shoes Bonnie! What brand are they? I am still desperately on the hunt for turquoise shoes.... -
We have ordered LEDs and batteries to light the laterns. But we have not recieved them yet. I am using the instructions from the DIY forum. Just putting together my outfits for the BD...really don't have a clue LOL Hope the photographer can make miracles happen. Tisha-you can do one for your 1st year anniversary! I'm sure you are going to knock his socks off! How did you find your photographer? I've been doing some research but not sure who to trust. I'd also like to hear about the light up lanterns. Where did you get them from? I've read posts from ladies that have said they had to create their own (DIY) lights for them. I'm so confused. hahaha! Actually found this studio through another lady who posted on the forum. Plus they do hair and make up...which I fail at both. So that alone should make me look good! And just to let you know the last 2 months have been really stressful...so not many workouts and really not feeling wedding shape ready...sigh....next week!

Just noticed my post didn't appear yesterday...hmmm.... Quote: Originally Posted by dstinationdrmr @jesscampbell - There were lots of activities planned for the kids all day. She told her, "Mama, I'm going to the movies at the kids club tonight and not parents are allowed!" Lol. My sister also used the nanny services when we wanted to do things at night. PM me if you have any questions about that and I can forward them to her. Meredith, I would love to know the details about the nanny service, since we have 8 kids coming along. And great advice about taking the important things in your carry on (dress/shoes/suit). We were planning on it, but hearing it again only makes it seem even more important. Tisha, I think that should be enough laterns. We bought 40 in assorted colors/sizes. But that 's mostly because I am worried some will get damaged along the way, so we are bringing extras.Plus FI loves the latern idea, so he took charge of the amounts...it might be a bit overkill LOL. I have my BD session tomorrow. So nervous, I thought I would have all this time to get ready...and it's tomorrow.

We have been travelling with rolling duffel bags from Samsonite for the last few years. We love them. The bags are not very heavy, and they are easy to pack with clothes and the bottom is perfect for shoes. However if you plan on travelling with lots of fragile items I would suggest a hard sided suitcase! Good luck

My in-laws flew Delta but we flew Continental and our 2nd bag was $27. The same goes for American and US Airways, also. You should not have a problem with checking your luggage with the OOT bags already prepared. However as an added precaution, you should take receipts for what is in the OOT bags and tell the customs agents it is gifts for the wedding guests (this will only be used if you get searched). Not sure where you are flying, but usually most of the customs officers are okay, they just want to know you are not bringing in items for resale. So by showing your original reciepts and stating that they are gifts you should have no problems.

It was wonderful to see all of you! Hope everyone continues to do well with their wedding planning and we'll catch up again soon Thanks for everyone who made it out, it was a great evening!

I think the officiant is included. I will check my info later, but pretty sure it's included. Quote: Originally Posted by arkae Did you get these overlays from lomas as well? (white table linens are included in dinner packages) This is what I have been quoted, hope it helps.

Tisha, your wedding dress is beautiful! From the picture it looks like a slight sweetheart line and it think it compliments your daughter's dress perfectly! (or the other way around LOL) Your daughter is such a cutie! The colors look great together. And about having second doubts I think we all have them. I bought my dress, and when I got home I basically had a nervous breakdown. I had bought a dress that was completely different from what I had planned, it was much heavier, and I scared myself. But after putting it back on again, I realized why I bought it in the first place. I loved it and how I felt in it! I think it gets a little nerve wracking because you see all these other dresses and other brides. But you choose the dress for good reasons (even if you don't remember right now!). The dress is stunning, it hugs your curves and the corset is great (there are no rules about how big/small the 'v' should be- so as long as the dress fits. It will be perfect on you) Sending hugs!

See you all tomorrow! I think I count 8 ladies, so it should be a lot of fun. If there's anyone else, please feel free to join us: Moxie's at Yorkdale Mall, Tuesday November 23 at 6:30pm
