  1. Thanks! For your friends, if you want someone local to accompany them into town late at night. Talk to Oscar the bellhop. He took a bunch of our friends into town and made sure everyone was safe and got back.(but they did not leave until the end of his shift 1130pm? I think)If you want to do a tour, there are a bunch as well.( I know that Lomas tours can do a return trip van (holds 7) for $100 (to Cancun). They pick you up at the resort, drop you off in town, and then the van will be waiting outside at the predetermined time. Talk to Adrian at the resort, he's in the lobby at the Lomas desk! Tell him you are getting married, and he will be super helpful! He bent over backwards to make sure everything went smoothly for us Good spots for meeting up with people. Depends on your number of guests. The adult bar, by the adult pool is stunning at night, with the multicolor lights. (good for about 15-25 guests). Lots of chairs and tables. The Mojoito lounge (adults only) in the lobby building, but will hold lots of people. You could also tell people to meet right in the lobby, there are great couches, and this would allow for kids. And for drinks, just run into the Mojoito bar. The backside of the Mexican restaurant has some nice chairs and tables (likely good for about 20-30) and kids could join. And the bar is great! We often met people is the 'coffee hut'. At the bottom of the giant stairs behind the lobby building. There are lots of chairs, tables, hangs beds, pop machine, coffee machine. For drinks run back up to the Mojoito lounge, or the back of the Mexican restuarant. We usually went up to the Mojioto lounge and had one of the waiters carry all the drinks down for us! Tipped him $5 and he would come down every 20 minutes to take orders. Keep in mind there was usually no less than 30 of us sitting and singing down there! And the kids loved the swinging beds. All the food was great! No complaints. A lot of the families liked Spoon, just because it was a buffet and the kids didn't have to wait for the food. They just wanted to get back out to play at the kids club. The parents loved it. They had to feed the kids between 5-7pm. and then from 7pm to 9:30 the kids would be busy in the kids club again. So every night the parents could join others and have a nice dinner! I was so nervous about the ceremony and how it would flow! There is no rehersal, so it worried me. But they go through the details with you. Example: how will the groom enter, groomsmen, bridesmaids, bride, etc. , special details, etc. Best thing I can suggest: MAKE YOUR IPOD LISTS SIMPLE. We had 1) guest arrival music; 2) grooms entrance; 3) brides entrance; 4) registry signing; 5) exit music. They simply hit the correct list and they do an amazing job of it. My song was a bit long, and they just faded it. The basics of my ceremony. The guests sat down. The groom and his groomsmen entered. Bridesmaids enter, I walked down the aisle. The judge asked who was giving me away (my sister walked me down). Then she asked guests to sit and welcomed everyone. Basic little intro about marriage and then started into the vows. Repeat after me type. After this we said our own vows. She then went through ring exchange. We then went and signed a certificate. Pronounced us husband and wife. We kissed and exited. At the end of the wooden runner we were greeted by a waiter with a tray of Mojoitos (custom cocktail-just ask for it when you have your meeting with the ONSITE coordinators. When I asked the Miami WC it was suppose to cost me $200. It cost us nothing onsite!) **Please note we did the symbolic ceremony- not legal. Hope that helps! And the onsite coordinators will keep telling you "Don't worry". It's hard to do, but they do an amazing job.
  2. You can easily find sticker paper at Walmart or Staples in Canada! Try the stationary section in Walmart, and just ask at Staples. I think it cost me about $12 for 10 sheets. I bought the full sticker sheet, not address label sheets. Then you just have to cut it down to size. One of my bridesmaids helped me, and after we put them onto the lip balm, we placed packing tape over it. I am hoping to post a picture tomorrow.
  3. I don''t know the price of the tall vases. But we went into Cancun to buy vases for our centerpieces. The vases we found were about 10" tall, about 6" in diameter. We bought 8 vases for $12US total. The store were we bought them was located just outside of Market 23 (the local food market). This is also were we bought some local Mexican sweets/treats for our guests. Quote: Originally Posted by jazz04 Did you rent your vases at the ceremony from them or bring them with you? 4. Hello Ladies, So I have finally returned to reality! Our wedding was fantastic. I would not change a thing For all of you that have friends/family worried about the destinations....my advice,(since we went through it a lot): Reassure them you would never take them to an unsafe place. But that being said, use common sense. Stay in known areas, ie. don't wander off the beaten path. If you wouldn't walk around at night be yourself at home, don't do it away! I live in Toronto, and there are certain areas you would never find me in, and that are far more dangerous than the tourist areas down south. And if they continued to be worried, like another girl said, the final decision is up to them! Let them know you would love to have them there, but that you would not be upset if they decided not to attend. Last thing you want to do is have to babysit them down there! You want to enjoy your wedding.
  5. Hello Ladies, So I am finally back to the real world! Our wedding was stunning-could not have asked for anything better. All of our guests had an amazing time, and the wedding coordinators on site are super. Don't stress too much, they will make everything perfect! I will be trying to get my review and planning journal done in the next week. Don't know how much the Xmas lights are to rent, but there are tons on electric outlets so you can just bring some if you want. It does look pretty, but I don't have any photos. We did laterns. Bought them from Asia Ideas. The LED light project is super easy! If you need help, just email me. Quote: Originally Posted by JaimeCF2BR I can not believe its Murmel's wedding day! And then we just relaxed as a newly wed couple for our 3 free days after everyone left. I had Angie. I found she usually responsed better when I talked to her over the phone. And also if she tells you no, don't accept that answer. I was told NO constantly and in the end got everything I wanted! Quote: Originally Posted by 1106wedding I have Angie. Don't let this deter you. If you bring the photographer with you as a guest (ie they stay for 3 days or more, you do not have to pay the vendor fee) Also depending on when your contract was signed it should still be $500! Fight for it. I was amazed at how easily they agree to things, just for me bringing up things. Quote: Originally Posted by jazz04 was this per person ? All the rooms are almost identical. The difference of Jacuzzi to Luxury Jacazzi is what building it's in. Also the Jacazzi rooms usually only have one bed (ie queen or king), while the Luxury Jacazzi rooms have the option of 2 double beds. If I remember correctly the Jacuzzi rooms are in the adult building (2) and the family building (4). The Luxury Jacuzzi rooms are in building #3. The premium rooms are also almost identical, the bonus being free wifi, room scents, and if you have the swim unit room, a hot tub. Quote: Originally Posted by Vic0214 Do they fly out of Canada? It sounds like the entrance fees to the parks are much cheaper going that route as well. I can highly recommend LOMAS travel for the transfers. We used them for a number of things and they were wonderful to us. We got a luxury Lincoln Navigator SUV with driver for 4 hours for $120US. He stayed with us the whole time and was super nice. We also used them for drop off services for our guests to go sightseeing, and the vans were always there waiting for them on their return. Adrian was the main guy at the hotel, his desk was up in the Lobby and he was great at arranging things for us, even very last minute. We did the exotic gazebo, and the onsite coordinator will drape the fabric for you! Also we had them move the bouquets to the dinner site. 6. Welcome to the forum! A great spot to get ideas is to read through the 'planning threads'. I found these really helpful. You'll also get tons of great ideas from girls on forum! I learned so much...now I just have to do my own planning thread! Good luck and happy planning
  7. We're not doing a rehearsal dinner. We opted to do a welcome cocktail party for all our guests, so that they can meet each other!
  8. Not sure how much time you have. But I would think your best bet would be to buy a plain pair of trunks and then take them somewhere and get them custom embroidered or iron on letters. I found these, but not sure how comfortable your groom would be in boxer briefs? http://www.cafepress.ca/+groom_boxer_brief,460280010 Good luck! Love that fact that he's really into it!
  9. Oh Tisha, you poor thing! Not a good day. Hope your niece feels better soon, and that dry cleaning it will clean it up. But great news to hear that the changes you wanted can be done Can't wait to see it when it's finished!
  10. We wanted to make sure that the few short speeches that will be given can be heard. So we had to rent the larger system which comes with a microphone. We are having our dinner reception, as well as one of the cocktail parties, at the Zavas Plaza.
  11. LOL! I just remembered you are getting married before me! Sorry! We get down there on Jan 19. You are welcome to plug in our sound dock and see how loud it is, that might help you choose if you have to upgrade before your dinner. I know we'll be in one of the swimup rooms, just not sure what room number yet.
  12. I will shoot you a message in about 10 days. We have bought a sound dock for our Sunday cocktail party which will be held at the Zavas Plaza. Then for our dinner reception we have rented the Lomas sound system with microphone. I will let you know how both are, just not sure that will be fast enough.
  13. I know it might be hard right now, but you choose the 2nd dress originally for a reason! Try it on again and you might rediscover that "love" feeling. Both of the dresses are beautiful, and your smile with #2 shows how happy you are. The ruffles are fun, and you'll likely be thrilled on your wedding day that you're comfortable and can really enjoy your day! (I noticed your in the Toronto area, I have a wonderful seamstress who will do alterations for a great price. She literally had to take my entire dress apart and put it back together and it was $250) Good luck!
  14. You look fabulous in both dresses! But I agree with the other girls, you look so happy in # 2, that seems to be the one you want. At the end of the day when you look at your pictures, will you be smiling remembering the dress you love! Choose whichever one puts a smile on your face. And I think the idea of using the other as a cocktail dress is great.
  15. So excited for you! I did a boudoir album too! And it was so much fun. I was terribly nervous, but the photographer was awesome. And she had so many useful and encouraging tips. Remember they do this professionally and will help you look your best! Have fun (a couple of the photos are posted in the Toronto boudoir forum) Quote: Originally Posted by Less is more Ladies who had the cigar roller was it worth it? 16. Our prices ranged from $1515 CDN out of Toronto for 7 days and flight. Ottawa $1680, Edmonton $1700. We got the package through Sunwing/Signature vacations.
  17. Great to hear you'll get your wedding week off! And I know you'll handle all the extra pressure with ease. Hope you get the papers soon, and good luck with the move and wedding planning!
  18. I don't think so. Have not planned on it. Quote: Originally Posted by Vic0214 I know how you feel about the wedding coordinators. Don't worry too much. I was really frustrated at the start, but when it got down to crunch time (ie a month before we had to pay), the WC was great, quick with responses, always answered the phone, etc. I think it seems to be an unwritten policy, brides who are getting close get great service, and the ones who still have time, let them wait! It frustrated the hell out of me, cause I wanted it all done and in place in September, but it didn't get finished until late December (wedding is January 24)
  19. Getting married January 24, and we paid for it in full on December 22. Hope that helps!
  20. Thanks girls! We are so excited, it's the house we've been waiting for! Congratulations on the new job! And I'm keeping my fingers crossed you'll get the time off for your wedding! When and where is the big move? Good luck!
  21. Thanks Nan! I love my job, and even though it gets busy at times, I don't find it stressful. However, wedding planning and just buying the new house...now that's stressful! LOL In the winter there is less traffic, so usually we'll work an hour and then take a small break. In the summer when it's busy we can work a maximum of 2 1/2 hours before we have to take a break. We work 8 1/2 hr shifts, which can be extended to 12 hours. I have a couple of days off starting tomorrow, then one more cycle of work...and then on a plane! Yippeee!
  22. Here's my chapstick template. I will take a picture and post it soon. Chapstick Template1.doc
