For any of the up coming brides coming for the dinner, would anyone be interested in a wedding planner binder/folder thing. I never used it. And would love to pass it on to someone who might use it!

Not to be nosy...but how much are you paying? We ended up bringing a photographer with us (and as long as they are a guest of the hotel for 3 days or more- no vendor fee) I would be really mad at not being able to pick the photographer. You want nice pictures from your wedding, not something amateur like! We bought glass vases in Cancun at a party store. (located just outside local Market 23). We bought 8 vases for $12 US TOTAL!!! Then we filled the vases with limes and water. Very basic and simple...but cost us about $20 for all of them. You could easily fill the vases with other fruits, sand, etc. (just means you have to go to Cancun to go shopping) There is a picture on my Planning thread.

I will see you all on June 22 at Moxie's. Lisa- hopefully you have some photos from your wedding! So want to see how it all turned out

If you're thinking red/yellow, I think you might mean Zoloco Terrace, and I was told it fits maximum 40 people. If it's Zavas Terrace, there is really no color scheme. It's the front section of the premium pool area on stone. (if you look at the map, it's just beside the Zavas restaurant over a bridge. It's breezy because it's right beside the walk to the beach. We had a cocktail reception there for 63 guests and there was plenty of room. I think this will be a pretty place for a reception. Only thing to keep in mind, there is really no where for you to hang decorations in this location....so plan for items on the tables or something that can stand on it's own. Here are a few photos...hope that helps.

Murmel's Planning Journal **Pic and Template Heavy**
murmel replied to murmel's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
If you're talking about the pink Converse, they are actually my husband's shoes! LOL He was so excited to get custom made Converse sneakers. (you can only get them if you live in the US....or have a wonderful friend who orders them on your behalf!) -
We did 2 cocktail parties, and there was no seating at either. (one on the beach, one at Zavas Terrace) However they do set up some bar height tables for people to place drinks/food on. I think if you were to simply request the waiter to grab a chair for someone who needed one it would not be a problem. But the time really does fly by and you'll hardly notice that there were no chairs. Tisha- WOW! Stunning photos. Very sexy and I am sure you are thrilled with the results Justine- we did a TTD as well, and my dress was much cleaner after the swim then after the wedding party. It seems the salt and sand got most of the black dirt off the bottom edge of the dress for me! LOL (Keep in mind, depending on the fabric of your dress, it may or may not fare as well in water. Mine was lace over nylon and satin layers) We did OOT bags and our guests loved them! I think we saw almost every guest using the bag at one time or another. We also included some meds, lip balm, small snacks, pen, and welcome booklet. Quote: Originally Posted by Meldrum05 Has anyone purchased one of the gazebo packages? Anyone have pictures or did anyone see different set ups while you were there? Thanks We did the exotic gazebo package. But when I got to Mexico, I said I didn't want the bouquets hanging from the gazebo. Instead they placed one on the table for the ceremony, and the other was at the dining location. We also asked NOT for the 'candy stripping' and to just hang the sheers instead. (Our WC had no problems doing this, at no extra charge. But I know some girls were not as lucky) (This is the closest photo I have...sorry it doesn't show the table with the flowers on it) I know it's a far drive, but the TO area girls are getting together June 21 or 22 at Square One Mall. (check out the Toronto Get Together forum) We had tealights in glass holders and they all blew out. Unless you can find the battery operated ones, I would not bother.

Either June 21 or 22 I should be able to attend!

Bridesmaid Gifts - HELP!
murmel replied to pbrozek's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We just got married in January in Mexico. We bought Mexican silver jewelery for my bridesmaids. They got earrings, a necklace and a pendant. They also wore the jewelery for the wedding! So I think the beautiful pearls would be perfect! And very unique I think a lot of brides give their bridesmaids jewelery, and it is usually expected that one wear the jewelery for the wedding (or at least that's been the case for me when I was a bridesmaid) Good luck! -
Keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine! Plus usually in Mexico it is just rain showers before the sun comes out again. Have a beautiful wedding and safe travels. Quote: Originally Posted by justiner57 Hi Ladies, So I have a question for all you past brides. Some of my bridesmaids have been asking me about hair & make-up day of the wedding. I contacted the WC onsite and she said it was $86 a person just to get their hair done, which I think it outrageous! It doesn't matter to me about them getting their hair & make-up done, but I know some of the girls want to get it done. Am I expected to pay for this? Obviously if I pay for one person I have to pay for everyone, but I was hoping someone knew a way to bring down the cost or any suggestions? I was thinking of getting my hair & make-up done on the day of the wedding, although I don't really like wearing make-up so I'm sure she will put too much on me lol. One of my husbands' friends is a hairstylist, so she did my hair/makeup as well as my bridesmaids. We did pay her a fee, although I am not really sure how it would compare to the salon rates. So essentially, yes, I did pay for my bridesmaids hair, makeup and dresses. (but that's what we choose to do. It's really a personally choice). I have been a bridemaid at 3 other weddings, and I have had my hair done and paid for by the bride in 2. The other wedding we all just did our own hair.

Need Help, Can't Decide

My favorite is #2, love the detailed bottom edge, and it fits you perfectly. My second choice is #4, love the ruffel bottom. Good luck with your choice! -
We had a friend do our hair and makeup, but we started about 10am and got married at 3pm. We were done hair and makeup around 1230pm...and had time for lunch and getting dressed. Few quick photos and lots of just hanging out and laughing! (3 bridesmaids and me) We started the morning with all the girls (not just bridal party), gathering for breakfast at 9am at one restaurant. It was one of my favorite memories of the day! And it made it truly special and actually relaxed me. Highly recommend this When I went to the fabric stores in town locally I discovered that it would only save me about $30, and I would still need to transport it. Which when you start packing, you will realize it is a huge issue. Plan on packing as little as possible (personal opinion). There will be so many other things you would rather be packing; clothing, OOT bag items, wedding decor, table decor, dress, suit, etc.

Any 2011 Brides out there?
murmel replied to Nicyx's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Nicola, your photos are beautiful! I also saw a few others on Facebook. Looks like you had a wonderful time, and your AHR went well! Nan, hope your day went well. Can't wait to hear more! -
About credit card sized. Usually I just put mine into my beach bag, or gave it to hubby who put it in his shorts pocket. Quote: Originally Posted by justiner57 Ladies, I am wondering how all of you transported your dresses to Mexico? I know shipping is not an option, could you imagine if the dress was lost? Any words of advice for what to NOT do I carried my dress and husbands suit and our shoes on board! Did not want to lose them!! We put our shoes into our carry ons and then the dress and suit, we put into dress bags. I had to put my dress in the overhead bin, folded over double. But once we got to Mexico, just hung it up and didn't have to do a thing. (mind you my dress was most lace, and didn't seem to wrinkle at all) We did get my husbands suit pressed. ****And by the way if you are getting married on a Monday, get your dress/suit sent out before Sunday. They laundry is Closed on Sundays!! Can't remember who asked specifically, but the minister who did our symbolic ceremony, her name was listed as Guadalupe Hernandez. She was wonderful! Pretty sure she did Maggie's wedding as well. Maggie- sorry to hear you are not thrilled with the photos. But there are many beautiful shots that will remind of your wonderful day! I love the one of you and your husband 'hugging' the palm tree. Melissa- great to hear you found your dress! Do you have a picture to share yet?

I will try and catch up today on what's happening. Sorry to everyone I promised info to last week, we literally had arrived home from Ottawa and our last AHR (which was fantastic), to recieve a phone call that my Opi (grandpa) had died. Packed our packs and headed to the airport. So I just spent the last week in Germany trying to arrange everything. Hope all is going well, and I promise I will get that info out shortly.

Available for sure: June 1, 2, 14, 27, 28, 29. But whatever day you do choose, I might be able to switch my shifts and make it out!

I think I have her name written down...but I am at work right now and then heading to Ottawa for our last AHR. So I will check on Tuesday once we're home. They provide an Ipod player for your ceremony ONLY! (free of cost) For any other event you have to play the fee for the sound dock or provide your own. We brought down our sound dock and had no problems using it! (there are electric plugs everywhere) As a backup, especially if you have a small group, the Ipod alarm in your room could work! We saw a group bring the radio/alarm Ipod to the pool area, and had the bartender plug it in. It worked quite well.
