From the album: El Dorado Royale photos

You can send your dress out to be steamed. There is not one in your room. (I don't remember the cost, but I think about $20 US) I believe it was a usual 2 day processing, but you could get 24 hour express service. ****If you are getting married on a Monday, be very aware that the laundry services are closed on Sundays!!! So plan ahead for this

Hello ladies. So EDR is beautiful! Here for a few more days if anyone wants to know anything or have photos let me know. Wifi- is free if you stay on the Casitas side or in a Presidental unit. Otherwise the prices are: 24 hours-$15US; 72 hours-$30US; 1 week-$72US. The wifi is hit or miss, trying to get it on the beach or by the pool is hard. So someone was thinking of streaming music....not likely to work well.

Beautiful photos! We flew a photographer down with us. We loved his work and he was super easy to work with. His name is Taylor Jackson, based out of Kitchner, ON. http://www.taylorjacksonphoto.com/ You must be super frustrated, but I know you and your FI will figure it out. Good luck! Love that hotel! So much fun and it looks like you guys had a great party! Congrats

Arggg...how rude are people sometimes??? At least a phone call to personally tell you they can't make it would have been nice! As for your room block, depending on what your deal is...you could always advertise on here, and see if any other brides/guests need a room? That way someone who needs a room might be able to help you fill your slot. At least it might be worth a try! Sigh...sorry that you got 'dumped' that way. That is really frustrating.

US dollars are fine to use on and off the resort. *Just note that all the hotels, larger stores in town, restaurants, etc. all have charge you in Mexican Pesos now due to government regulations. You can still pay the bill in US dollars (they convert for you), just the bills have to be in Pesos.* They will sometimes have to give you Pesos back as change, since they don't have the US in their drawer, and then I would spend the pesos first, so you don't get stuck with it later. I would recommend US dollars over Pesos. And I travel to Mexico at least twice a year. Tipping is a very personal choice. We usually leave a dollar for the maid everyday, as well as a dollar in the beer fridge-since it's a different person. Bartenders, dinner staff, etc. we will tip on their service. If we know we will have the same bar tender for the week, we usually tip them well at the start of the week and then you never wait for a drink. There is a safe in the room. You should really use it!!! Especially for your passports, cash, credit cards, etc. Strict, not really. Although usually they want guys in long pants-jeans are fine (just not ripped up). For girls, I think you could get away with flip flops but you might feel a little out of place. (most people wore nicer shoes, sundresses, guys-long pants, collar shirts (golf tees, etc))

Let's see what I remember: 1) you get your appointment card upon check in 2) our appointment was the following day (but I think that may vary on when you arrive and when the wedding is) 3) we went over the detail sheet, making sure they understood our vision. We also covered where people would be getting ready (rooms), spa times, etc. Then covered how the ceremony flows, who walks where, music, etc. Any other details you wished to add/change. Gave them all our extras (lanterns, paper name cards, menu cards, etc. ) 4) I think it was about an hour. That's awesome that your brother in law is your photographer! You will have no problems Our friends mentioned there was still some confusion about who were timeshare guests and hotel guests. They didn't have much staff around the pool yet and were sometimes disorganized (again this is from friends that were there this fall). I wish I could be more specific (I will try and ask them next time I see them). I would also try Trip Advisor or Debbies caribbean online and see what others are saying if you are considering this an option.

We did the "exotic gazebo" - think is was $220 (it included the sheers, and two large bouquets -which they normally hang on the sides, we just asked them not to hang them; we used one on our signing table, other one at the reception) I have only been to Sensatori and El Dorado Royale/Casitas. The Royale has a nice beach. (adults only too) I will be there next week, so I'll take pictures and post them. I have friends who have been to Fives and say they are still going through "growing pains". But that is because they only opened in November 2010- it also has a lot more timeshare units on the property. I think someone mentioned it, but you do not pay the fee if the photographer stays at the resort for 3 nights or more. So we brought a photographer with us for the week, and had no problems!

Hi Dori, We did have sheers, but we also hung a few paper lanterns in the corners for colors. Here are photos of the beach gazebos not decorated...maybe it will help give you more ideas. These of photos of the gazebo closest to the pier: These are the pictures of the yoga palapa (about mid way down the beach). It is covered and you could likely have all your guests under it, which could be really special. It is quite large, and because it's already covered you wouldn't have to worry about the sheers. These are photos of the gazebo closest to the premium section. It is the smallest of the 3 gazebos. It is also covered. Hope these photos help! If you have any more questions- just ask!

Hello ladies! I am heading down to the Royale Jan 28-Feb 4. If anyone has any specific photos of locations or questions about the resort, ask me and I will try to take pictures or get answers for you while I am done there. Thought I would offer the help, we got married last year at the Azul Sensatori (one of their family friendly resorts) and are now heading back to celebrate our one year anniversary! So many other ladies help me when I was trying to prepare and now I feel I should offer to help to other brides! Cheers!

I understand your frustration about the pricing, but usually they don't have prices til early spring for next winter, so just take your time. We started watching the prices with our TA about a year in advance and the prices finally got to what we were happy with about 8 months in advance. So don't worry it will all work out! As for electrical, Mexico is the same as Canada. So whatever you use here you can plug in there. And there are lots of plugs all over the grounds of the Sensatori, so no worries there. We brought a iPod dock with us and played music where ever we were sitting with friends and family. We had paper lanterns with LED throws in them for Zavas Plaza, but didn't bother with extra lights.
