  1. El Dorado resort Laundry prices (updated May 2013) ** This is the sister resorts to Sensatori, so this will at least give you a good idea of prices to steam your wedding dress, or have suits pressed, etc. Also the prices are in PESOS!!! (not dollars)
  2. THINGS I WISH I HAD KNOWN! Here is some great advice, if you would like to add more advice, just send me a message! AIRPORT AND TRAVEL Be sure to check with your airline for baggage weight allowance. Be sure to follow the rules for liquids in your carry-on. 3.4 oz (100 ml) It's advisable to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours in advance of your flight. Wear comfortable clothes, and consider packing a bathing suit in your carry on, since check in at the hotel is 3pm. ARRIVING IN CANCUN You will be given a Mexican tourist card and entry form on the airplane. Please fill out the forms completely (front and back), before arriving. Upon arrival in Cancun, you will proceed through customs. (Should you be bringing gifts you're giving your bridal party or OOT bag items be sure to bring receipts with you. You can only bring $300/person of gifts with you. Anything above that total you may have to pay a customs fee.) They will give you your Mexican tourist card, keep this in a safe place, since it's your ticket home! You will now collect your baggage! Next step: place your luggage on the xray machine conveyer belt. Collect your bags on the other side of the machine. Then proceed to the small stand where you press the button to reveal a red or green light. Green light- Go! Red light- customs will check your luggage. Now walk out of the airport, following the exit signs. There will be people asking you where you are going, do you need a shuttle?, etc. (they are time share representatives) Simply say "No thanks", or "no gracais". Upon exiting the airport, you will see the shuttle buses and tour operator representatives. If you have a pre-arranged shuttle, find your representative. They will direct you to your shuttle. If you have to take a taxi, they can be found in this area. However be sure to negotiate your price BEFORE getting into the taxi. ELECTRICITY 110V/60 Hz with North American style outlets. No adapters required. RESORT You can exchange currency at the front desk There is an interesting little museum in the front lobby. The resort will try to get you to attend a time share presentation. This is your choice- it is not required. If you're not interested, just politely say "No thank you". The resort offers dry cleaning, laundry and pressing. Just be aware it is usually a 24 hour service (rush service is available at additional charge), however the laundry service is closed on Sundays. (**so plan for this is your wedding is on a Sunday or Monday) (there is a laundry list in the next post with costs, to give you an idea!) The resort offers a wonderful kids program daily. From 930am til 4pm, kids ages 5 to 14 will be entertained by resort staff. Then again from 7pm til 9pm. For younger children they offer highchairs, Fisherprice toys, bottle sterilizers, bottle warmers, baby bath tubs, strollers, cribs, jars of baby food. Babysitters are available (at additional cost). Please contact the kids club for details. Gym- is located on the upper floor above the lobby, beside the spa. There is a minifridge in your room, stocked with water, soda and beer. There is live music every evening by the adult pool around 7pm. Each building has its own concierge. Find them in the small buildings around the resort. They can assist if there are any issues with your room, arranging excursions, etc. They also have a list of all the resorts activities and books to read if you forgot one (or finish one!). RESTAURANTS AND FOOD Men are required to wear long pants for dinner (jeans are acceptable) All restaurants are a-la-carte, however Spoon also offers a buffet option. Lunch is also served on the beach at the beachside grill. But get there early, since it's a first come, first serve deal. Usually burger, hot dogs, salad, fries, etc. Reservations are not required for any restaurant, with the exception of Le Chique. (Beginning November 1, 2012, there will be a $25 per person surcharge in order to have the unique Le Chique dining experience. This can be credited toward the premium menu or bottles of wine on the Wine Spectator menu. The surcharge does not apply to guests staying in the Premium Suites. 24 hour room service is included. To find the room service menu, turn on the TV and find the correct channel. BEACH The beach is fairly small. However, they are slowly expanding the beach by trucking in new sand (as of January 2014). So the beach is slowly getting wider and is a beautiful soft white sand. The water directly in front of the resort can be quite rocky and shallow. (that is because is it an old coral reef) IF you walk north along the beach (towards your left if you are facing the ocean), there is a nude resort around the point. (Be sure to warn your guests, especially those with children) For a really nice, walk into the ocean, white sand experience- walk north (I know, towards the nude resort) and just before the point you'll find a beautiful spot to swim! There are sand fleas on the beach. (they mostly come out at sunset and night time)(and they only bite from the knees down) Bug spray seems to help keep them away.

  18. Azul Hotels certified wedding coordinators 1- 866-527-4762 http://karismahotels.com/HotelsResorts/ForEveryone/AzulSensatoriHotel http://www.weddingsbylomastravel.com http://www.facebook.com/azulsensatori The Azul Sensatori is located in Puerto Morelas. Approximately 20 minutes south of Cancun airport and 20 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. 438 suites, 6 different restaurants. Family friendly. There are three main types of Wedding Ceremonies that can be performed: Legal, Religious and Symbolic. CIVIL/LEGAL CEREMONY This ceremony type is available 7 days a week, at any hour you choose. If you want your marriage recognized as legal at home you must have civil ceremony, but you can combine this official portion of the ceremony with a religious ceremony if you choose. Although civil marriages performed in Mexico are legal in Mexico, you must legalize your marriage in your country of birth/residence. Do this by registering your marriage certificate at your local City Hall when you return home. Requirements Valid Passport: Passports are required to enter Mexico and are also mandatory for a legal wedding to be performed. Passports must be presented to the On-Site Wedding Coordinator at the time of the wedding consultation. Tourist Card: These are provided on the plane prior to arrival into Cancun International Airport. Names on tourist card and passport MUST be the same. Advanced Hotel Stay: Bride and Groom must arrive at their hotel three business days prior to the legal wedding ceremony date in order to complete the blood tests and process the necessary documents. Saturday, Sunday and Mexican holidays are not considered working days. A Civil Ceremony Form filled out (available through your Wedding Coordinator) indicating witnesses name, age, nationality, home address and occupation. Additional documentation If the groom is divorced no additional documentation is needed. If the bride is divorced (at least a year must have passed before she can remarry) and her passport is under her maiden name no additional documentation is needed. If the bride is divorced and her passport is under her ex-husband's last name, then she must present her Birth Certificate and Divorce Certificate translated into Spanish by an Official Translator and should have an Apostille Seal. The Apostille Seal is necessary when issuing a document from one country to another for legal purposes. For information on how to obtain the Apostille Seal, please contact the Secretary of State Office or visit: http://travel.state.gov/law/judicial/judicial_2545.html (US residents) The United States Department of State requires that all Weddings Certificates from ceremonies performed in the Caribbean, including Mexico, have the Apostille Seal. This procedure can be done by our Wedding Coordinators with an additional fee of $250 USD. By requesting this service you receive: an extra copy of your wedding certificate, the apostille seal, translation into English and FedEx delivery to your home address, usually between 30 to 45 days after the ceremony. If a bride or groom's former spouse is deceased then a copy of the Death Certificate is required. Health Certificate Mexican laws require a Health Certificate for all Legal Wedding Ceremonies. Blood tests are done to determine blood type, HIV and STD status. Tests must be taken at the resort and results are ready within 24 hours. Approximately cost is $250 USD per couple (unless stated as an inclusion in your wedding package). Witnesses: Legal Wedding Ceremonies require four witnesses. If the wedding couple provides their own witnesses the following is needed; if not the Hotel will provide at no extra cost. Valid passport or driver's license. Tourist Card. 20. Allie- Congrats on becoming the El Dorado Ambassador! Welcome! This is a wonderful forum to plan your dream wedding...and get lots of great ideas and info! These look great! Plus I love when FIs actually put some time into the wedding planning.
  21. Okay....first off don't panic! LOL Your photographer friend will have no problems. We brought our photographer with us for the week- no questions asked. I would make a quick note to the WC to tell them you're friend is your photographer and leave it at that. Your friend should not be worried- no work permit needed. (however if she is asked at customs, I would have them simply say she is doing the photography as a wedding gift) As for switching your locations, the only complication might be if there is another wedding already booked for the beach.(but there are 3 locations, and I believe they still only do 2 weddings a day) Other than that, you could change til the week before if you wanted! Any other questions, or worries, just ask!
  22. I have found a Bill Levkoff chiffon dress (very similar style, strapless, floor length) in size 14, but it's black! Called around to a number of bridal salons and it sounds like Champagne is a custom order color. (so even if they have a sample dress, it's usually not in that color) We'll keep looking! We're also going through a cold snap this week! I am bundling up!
  23. tkuzma- IF you find anything close to the Toronto area let me know. I just realized you are in Edmonton...and I will actually be flying up on Thursday to see my sister! So I could just fly something up with me if we find something.
  24. I will keep my eyes open....although it looks like it's a US store. I know I have seen very similar styles in local bridal shops....so worst case perhaps you can try local shops for something similar? And I agree with kathyrn83, have you tried calling Bill Levkoff directly? Are they the ones saying they don't know if it will make it in 2 weeks? Just looking at my local Kijiji....not perfect but if needed I could overnight ship to you http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-clothing-wedding-Impression-Bridal-MOH-or-Bridesmaid-Dress-W0QQAdIdZ444890684
