Azul Fives
murmel replied to daisymable's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Although I personally don't have experience with Azul Fives, I know the wedding planning would be similar to the Sensatori. If you read through this thread you will find some useful tips: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread/30#post_1869740 -
Yes, take all your stuff to your meeting with the WC. They will take care of putting everything out, and then taking it down. Usually you go back a day or two after the wedding and pick your stuff up. (just be warned if there is something you really don't want to lose, you may want to take it yourself after your wedding-ie. an engraved cake cutter, cake topper, guest book, etc.) As careful as they might be, it is quite common for some brides to be missing a few things. And don't expect them to pack stuff up as well as you did. I know I was missing a few paper lanterns, and some were torn...but to me that was not a huge deal. I know there are a few Sensatori brides that have used them....let me search a little and see if I can find you some of the photos! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/23412/azul-sensatori-brides-post-here/13890#post_1658552 http://maggieandjaywedding.shutterfly.com/ http://weddingsbylegacytravel.blogspot.ca/2010/10/angela-hawk-wedding-at-azul-sensatori.html http://weddingsbylegacytravel.blogspot.ca/2010/07/meghand-jason-wedding-at-azul-sensatori.html

So many amazing things to do and see. 1) For zip-lining I think the best spot is likely Xplor http://www.xplor.travel/ There is zip-lining, underground caverns, rivers, touring in jeeps, etc. 2) Snorkeling, I still think Xel-Ha is best,(my favorite anyway) especially if you take the time to do the river tube. http://www.xelha.com/ The lagoon here is swarming with colorful fish, and if you get the right season you can also see sea turtles and the breeding beach. 3) Another well loved snorkel spot is Xcaret, this includes more underground snorkeling, caverns http://www.xcaret.com/ If you can stay later into the evening, they have an amazing traditional Mayan dance/performance show. 4) For ruins, my favorite is Coba. It would be about 1 1/2 hour drive. It is located inland of Tulum, in the jungles. Tons of ruins, many which are still covered in jungle trees and vines. As well, one of the few ruin sites where you can still climb up the main temple (mind you I have not been in 2 years now, so that might have changed) *advice: If you go on your own, rent the bikes, you will be able to cover far more ground and quickly. 5) Tulum ruins. Beautiful setting on the ocean. But all the ruins are roped off, so you can't really get to close. As well it is super busy. About an hour drive south of the resort. There is an amazing market out front for local crafts and souveniers. *Advice: if you go bring your swimsuit, and a towel. You will find stairs down to one of the most amazing beachs I have ever seen! You simply have to go for a swim:) 6) Chichen Itza ruins. These are Aztec ruins, vs the Mayan ruins. Outstanding ruins and tons to see. However it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive inland. Hope that helps!

We did have a cocktail party between the ceremony and dinner. And although it was great for guests (since we went off and did photos), I think a lot just went to their rooms or headed to a bar for a drink. So unless you are getting one included with your wedding package, or feel it is required, I would skip it and save the money! And like Rachael mentioned- it's ALL INCLUSIVE! They can grab a cocktail anywhere, and if they are hungry there are plently of spots for a quick snack. I would not be worried! Hmmm...I have no idea. Perhaps you could just purchase a day pass for the assistant? (I don't know if this will work) Yikes- I am sorry I don't know what to tell you.

Welcome to the forum! It's really hard to say what the average wedding costs....it so depends on how large your group is, and what you want to do. Take a look at the Official forum to get some ideas of what packages and add on are available. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread

The maximum number of "free" guests included with the wedding package dinner is 40.(again be sure to confirm your wedding package includes this) If you have more guests there is additional charge per person. At Spoon, you are not allowed to use an Ipod because of your proximity to other hotel guests. You are however welcome to bring your own decorations. Just be aware they cannot hang any decorations. So you are limited to table decor mostly.

The dinner on the beach is nice. But sometimes it can be very windy, and even with the wind shades they put up might be a little off putting for some. I know my husband and I enjoyed our beach dinner, but I don't think it was as romantic as we had hoped (because of the wind). I love the massage idea (especially if you know it's something they enjoy). The Sky massage is amazing! Another idea is to order a nice bottle of wine to be delivered to their room with chocolate strawberries and a thank you note. If you have been friends with your MOH for a long time, what about a photobook of pictures of you and her over the years? I know it can be extremely difficult to surprise someone sometimes, but the one thing that is always appreciated is a heart felt note/card! Good luck.

To be able to have your reception at Zavas Plaza you must pay for a Private event. The semi-private event that is included in some of their wedding packages is ONLY available to be held in Spoon restaurant. They pull a heavy curtain across a section of the restaurant and you end up in a fairly quiet little corner. As well you are provided with your own waiters (maximum 40 people. Above that number there is an additional charge) You cannot use an Ipod at the Spoon restaurant, but you are welcome to bring decorations for the tables to decorate. (they will not hang anything in Spoon restaurant) I believe the semi-private event is 2-3 hours (but I'm not sure). You can also use the 'semi-private' event for a brunch or lunch. In this case you may be able to get in a different restaurant. (we used ours as a brunch at the Zavas restaurant; and there was a ton of amazing food for brunch)

Even though the legel ceremony has a set script, if you let your WC know, you can usually add something at the end-ie. personal vows, a scripture reading, etc. The semi-private dinner is ONLY available to be held in Spoon restaurant. They pull a heavy curtain across a section of the restaurant and you end up in a fairly quiet little corner. As well you are provided with your own waiters (maximum 40 people. Above that number there is an additional charge) The one other option is to use this 'dinner event' as a brunch or lunch; in which case they can offer other restaurants. (we used ours as a brunch at Zavas restaurant).

Be sure to read all the fine print...the unlimited free private events are not for all Karisma resorts and also sometimes are not offered to all customers/brides. (currently there is a free 'sweetheart' wedding package-but not for Canadian brides). Also the vast majority of private events are 4 hours....not 8! It seems that the resort has some outside vendors that have been banned. (not that we would ever hear the reason or be offered the list) But perhaps the DJ you are looking at is on the 'banned list'? If you're not interested in the Lomas DJ's there might be others you could enquire about. And yes, Karisma resorts still offer the options for outside vendors: $800 fee (one time and one day ONLY. So if you want to meet them the day before you will likely have to pay a visitors fee, or you can leave the hotel and meet them off site) OR 3 nights accommodation for the vendor (ie. they will be a full time guest of the hotel) I think switching to the 3 night stay would work out better for you if you plan to do the TTD at the resort. If you are going elsewhere, just meet the photographer offsite.

Another way to keep the sand from shifting is to stuff the top with a small sponge or cotton balls. Then tape over the top. As well try to take it in your carryon and keep it upright! Have a wonderful renewal! Quote: Originally Posted by Feb2013 We leave this Sunday!!! I'm really sorry, I don't really understand your question? If there are things you want to know about that are not covered in this thread feel free to ask your WC or ask us. You will actually be dealing with two different WC's. The first one is based in Miami and will help you plan your wedding, fill out your detail spreadsheet and make arrangements/reservations (this is all done via email and telephone). The second WC will be met onsite in Mexico. They are the ones that are in charge of actually putting your wedding together. The only thing I can think of is asking your WC to reserve a specific location for your wedding, and to check that there is enough time for your ceremony before sunset.

I know there have been a few brides that have had a catholic ceremony- they have actually gone down the road to the little chapel located on the El Dorado Royale property (adults only). A Catholic ceremony MUST be held in a church or chapel and there is an additional charge for the minister. Please see the thread : http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread (under wedding packages for more details).

Welcome to the forum! I have added you to the offical roll call! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84306/official-azul-sensatori-thread As for partying...it is a quieter resort, very family oriented. So the good news is the kids will love it. The kids club is fantastic, and allows the parents to enjoy some alone vacation time! Every evening there is relaxing live music at the adult pool bar (saxaphone, or guitar usually) for a nice cocktail drink vibe. Then after dinner, the staff does a great job with entertainment (ie. a show). It's on the patio on the back part of the lobby (shows can include dancing, music, magic, comedy, etc.) Then after dinner there is always live music in the mojioto lounge. Plenty of room to dance the night away. As well if you're a big crowd the teen bar becomes a disco at night. There is usually a DJ down there that will play whatever music you would like. Now please remember most guests have kids, so there are not many people about past about 10pm. So it's not a huge party resort, but with a good crowd of friends you'll make it a party! I have added you to the Bride roll call! Yipppee!! So excited for you. One week to go! I am so glad to hear you found a similar dress that will work. I am really sorry that the first dress never arrived, but good for you for not panicing and finding a solution! And now that you've gone through that the rest is going to be easy sailing! Enjoy your week! Safe flight. And best wishes for a beautiful wedding! Welcome home MRS! So glad to hear everything was perfect! And thanks for posting the photos. Love the sunset one- great colors!

Newbie Azul Beach 2013
murmel replied to KATAYLOR's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Unfortunately you will find most tours are about $50-100/person. So $68 seems about right- and it's likely snorkelling gear, not scuba diving gear! You can just search online and see if you could find a different tour operator with cheaper boat tours. (but I don't have any advice on those-sorry. I have only done deep sea fishing!) Here's a website I found- http://www.catamaranscancun.com/index.html. But I don't know if that includes transport or how many guests you might have! But they have a lot of boat options. If you want to do something cheaper, you could possibly try to arrange a private bus transfer to the Mayan ruins at Tulum. It's about an hour drive, but the entrance to the site is about $4 US/person (last time I went). Some other excursions: snorkelling at Xelha http://www.xelha.com/, shopping and dinner on 5th Ave in Playa del Carmen, Xplor http://www.xplor.travel/ has underground caves to swim through and zip lines....
