She totally knew, and she had help!! I forgot to mention: She came to the shower with a mutual friend, and upon delivery the mutual friend replied, " I thought I checked out all the pages before I wrapped it!" SAD RIGHT!! the situation was funny, invitations are out but on the flipside... she will never get invited to anything else I throw again. neither one of them, that's just sad! I am worth more than a USED 7 YEAR OLD BAG OR REGIFTS! However the way I handled it was perfect she will think twice for the next person.

I am a kind of laid back bride. I am not the type to flip out over uneven place cards or other things (that the guests don't notice anyway). The thing that has gotten me thru this wedding process is learning to filter wisely thru the stress. It will work out in the end, enjoy it before its over. SOOO with that said: Saturday was my bridal shower and a friend of mine gave me a HUGE bag complete with wedding photo books, frames, and a box. I opened the box and saw a guest book which was beautiful book. So I'm thinking, The colors match, perfect!.. aww how thoughtful. Until I opened the book. Inside the book had addresses and signatures from a previous wedding!!! A REGIFT!! What was crazy was it was actually their 7 year anniversary on the day of my shower! This guest regift-ed their own guestbook. SMH!!!! So all this is going on in my head and I smiled and put the book back in the box. Wellllll I had a little idea of my own on how to deal with this guest. The next day I purchased an anniversary card and left a nice warm message. Then I took that same guestbook, filled it out like I was a guest at her wedding and dated it as 2011. I wrapped it in the best wrapping paper I could find and I had it delivered to her house!!! She laughed her head off and was extremely embarrassed and promised to get me something better for the wedding....touche'! Regift attempt FOILED!!!!! Sorry so long, It made me laugh!! No worries ladies, When it's all over your gonna sit back and laugh at half the stuff your stressing out about. ~Ericka

Just wish the rest of the world would catch up and be less negative. So again thank YOU for your kind remarks and support, its appreciated! Congrats to you as well

Couple follows 06-07-08 first date with 09-10-11 wedding Randall and Evans When New Jersey massage therapist Ericka Randall first met Patrick Evans, she was in a bad mood. She was turning 30, and all her friends had forgotten her birthday. She connected with Evans, now 42, on a music social networking site. He had no photo posted and she didn’t know much about the health care worker from Pennsylvania, but she found herself venting to him about her disappointment. To her surprise, the kind stranger she met online volunteered to make up for her disappointment and plan her a 30th birthday. "He had flowers and a 'happy 30th birthday' sign and surprised me by reserving a section of the restaurant." His thoughtful gesture won her over and on 06-07-08 – the day of the birthday party – the couple officially began dating. The serendipitous alignment didn’t end there. As they were getting to know one another, the music aficionados had odd coincidences like naming their favorite songs at the exact same moment (both simultaneously blurted out the Eric Benet song, “The Last Timeâ€). A year later, Evans surprised Randall with a New Year’s Eve proposal in 2009. After their 06-07-08 meeting, Randall's “yes!†was followed by wedding plans that continued their numerical streak. “We decided on a destination wedding in Ocho Rios, Jamaica,†said Randall, 33. And the date that “lined up perfectly†was none other than 09-10-11. The couple feels no pressure to keep the numeric magic alive, though Randall says she can’t resist one surprise on 09-10-11. “I’m planning to send him a gift at 12:13 that day, before we get married at 3 p.m.,†she laughs. “It has to be worked in there!†To read the full Yahoo Article: http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/none/couple-follows-06-07-08-first-date-with-09-10-11-wedding-2515264/?posted=1#postcomment

Congrats to you! I have a question: how did you communicate with your guests at the resort. Do cell phones even work there? Did you rely on the phones at the resort? What type of make up did you use? I know it was humid and hot out there. -
it was the only obvious choice for a date. I am feeling good okay as far as planning is concerned, Can't wait till the big day, getting really excited.

It was a big risk but it seems as though things are going well now, our friendship is improving again and like u said, she is happy about the step down. Cheers to smooth sailing (said with fingers crossed) Quote: Originally Posted by Mwise17 I am happy it all worked out. (she travels to all inclusive resorts 3 x's a year....) It went on and on along the same lines...after agonizing about it forever, I finally had the talk and it did NOT go well, but I told her it wasn't fair to me and that I need to do whats best for me, and demoted her to BM....that was a month or so ago, and I am so glad that I did it!!!! She is actually helping so much more now, and there are no hard feelings between her and my new MOH (she was a bridesmaid)...SO happy with my decision. Good for you for getting the nerve to trust your gut... Heres to smooth sailing from here on out!!! -

NEED ADVICE!! MAID OF HONOR ISSUES (VERY LONG)
Soon2BNJersey replied to Soon2BNJersey's topic in Just venting or funnies
Ladies thanks for understanding and offering suggestions. After a few days, and me seeing all of her posts on Facebook about how many beach trips she's planning I said," Thats it, I have to get this off my chest and just be straight with her. If she doesn' t like my plan she can just stay home and not waste anymore money paying for the trip. So I told her how she hasn't been around, and basically everything that I explained earlier. I also made her aware that I care about her and want her to be a bridesmaid, but NO LONGER MY MOH. She had dropped the ball too many times, and I need someone who is there to help not just be there for appearances. She said she will still try to help out when she can and agreed to still come my wedding as a bridesmaid. I think she was waiting for me to let her off the hook. The way I see it, my MOH should be someone who is concerned about me all around, not just for the wedding duties. She agreed that she had been flaking and pretty much took the scolding conversation very well. So Problem solved. My advice, go with your heart and if you can be happy with your wedding day going on without her give her the ax.. if not make a few changes, its your day....BUT friendships will come and go after this wedding is over. Good Luck
