  1. Jacy sent me some more info. She said it was $300 to use the sound system for the reception. I'm still thinking we may have the reception outside, but for $300 I'm sure I can buy my own system that will be plenty loud enough. Did you get charged for delivering OOT bags? I know it say that it is a $2/room charge, but I thought I read on here that they didn't end up charging people for that. I asked Jacy and she told me they always charge. Bummer.
  2. I'd just offer to pay the $150 for him if it will be that big of a savings to you. I'm sure he'd understand and probably wouldn't even take the money. If that doesn't work I'd start recruiting real hard to find 2 more people to go!
  3. I'm doing the whole legal thing in Mexico just because it matters to me. If you do the legal before you go I don't think it makes your Mexico wedding any less legit, it's totally a preference thing. It's your wedding and you should do whatever matters to you. Having said that, the funny thing is that I've been getting criticism from people for NOT getting married before going there. Some people don't think my Mexican marriage will be worth anything here and it's "unamerican" or something. So that just goes to show you that there is no right answer when dealing with this. You'll get flack no matter what you decided. I did have one suggestion from a coworker trying to convince me to marry here that may help your situation with your mother. He asked why I don't just do the symbolic thing in Mexico then go to the JP once we get back. Then your not technically married already at the Mexico wedding so you won't be "deceiving" anyone (his words, not mine). I don't know if that will help you any but its just another idea. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  4. It's been a while since I've been, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. From what I know the weather is pretty consistent year round. The only worry would be hurricane season but that's not supposed to start until late September. At least I hope since we will be there in early September!

  6. Does anyone know if the resort usually charges to use the sound system at the ceremony and reception? I think its included in the ceremony for no extra charge and I know that there is charge to use it at the reception on the wedding guide Jacy sent me. But I've also heard that they usually don't end up charging. I'm wondering if its worth buying my own and bringing it with me.
  7. Everything looks beautiful. I really love your rings! Gorgeous!
  8. The balls would be a good option. Or you can have the band redesigned. There are a lot of jewelry shops out there that do custom bands, that's what I've been looking into for myself. My brother and SIL actually had their bands made from scratch using gold from unused pieces of jewelry family members gave them. If you find a good store I bet they can remake the same ring for you out of the one you have now. Then it would look the same and be from the same source. It's not a cheap option, but for something like that it would be worth the extra cash to me.
  9. Anyone have fuchsia sashes they want to sell or know where I can get some? I'll need about 35. Here is a pic of kinda what I'm looking for:
  10. Has anyone bought the pink and orange ones? I think I want some but I'm not sure if the pink will be bright enough.
  11. So cute! I can't believe you got your dog there. That's so cool! And I love your cake.
  12. I have three friends that were bumped up to first class for their honeymoons, so I'm hoping I'll get the same treatment. =)
  13. I think the deposit is $500 but you don't have to pay it right away. I can't remember but I think it took them awhile to request it. So long as you are booked I think they trust you will be there.
  14. I think it's a very pretty bouquet, but it's definitely not what you asked for. I would ask them to rush a new one or replacement flowers. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure they have to make adjustments all the time and it won't be a big deal. I bet you can get them to expedite one with no problems if you show the picture of what you requested and what you got. They obviously made a mistake and any good business would be more than willing to fix it in time for your wedding. Good luck!
  15. It's ridiculous. If people bothered doing any research at all before jumping to these conclusions they would see that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. You're just as at risk at any wedding in any large city in the US, but you don't see people worrying about that. I've been pretty cool about the whole thing until now. My MOH is considering not going because her husband is worried about violence. Obviously he has no idea what he is talking about, but he is her husband and his opinion is going to matter to her. What can I possibly do to change her mind?
  16. Yes you can being your own photographer and they have to stay at the resort. I think they just don't want you to use local photographers instead of the one they already have at the resort. I'm bringing my own, a friend of mine, and have had no problems.
  17. I got really good deals from medcohealthstore.com. Do a search for coupon codes, they usually have a few going on. One I used was first10 and I got $10 my order. I used them for tylenol (50 packets for 99 cents), emergenC (2 boxes of 30 packets for $1.48 each), and chapstick (24 packages of 2 for $5). You will have to create multiple accounts to keep using the coupon code for each order, but he savings are worth the hassle. I also got a lot of things at the Dollar Tree. I got aloe gel and after sun lotion, playing cards (2 for $1), and cute bath poofs. I got my first aid kits and scope from target.
