  1. Wow! Morning catchup. Nicole, thanks for the info on the vball court (and pic). I know it was a strange question haha. Welcome all the newbies! (that sounds funny to me to be saying that b/c I still am such a newbie) Meredith, I loved your website. Very classy design. As for the centerpieces, I couldn't view them b/c I don't have enough credits or whatnot to download. But if it was me I would probably also use a combination of both (if you have 2 designs). Provided you have enough tables etc. Hope you're all having a great day!
  2. Hi Everyone. I'm a Vancouver bride too!! I hadn't seen this thread until Rosieposie directed me here from the May 2011 thread (thanks again Rosie). I would LOVE to join the meetup tonight if I'm not too late. I'll try and grab a flower but will be coming straight from work (and obviously didn't really plan this out thoroughly), so if not I'll just look for the rest of you? Hope no one minds my late-joining on the plans. By the way, real name is Kelsey. See you all tonight

I think the list sounds like a FANTASTIC idea. I'm sure that the BM dresses will look fantastic! Try not to stress about it, just remember that the only people who know that the colors are tangerine and green apple (as opposed to just orange and green) are those you tell. I had a friend go through a similar thing at her wedding. She thought the colors were off but we (the guests) all thought it looked GORGEOUS. The different shades made for a nice variety. I'm going to go over to that Vancouver thread right now... Quote: Originally Posted by Nikki O We are booked for May 7, 2011 at Azul Sensatori!! Finally!! Any Toronto brides out there? 4. Does anyone have an actual map of the layout of the resort? And this may be a bizarre question to most but I'm wondering if anyone happens to recall or know how the volleyball court(s) were / how many of them there are etc. I'm thinking it might be fun to try and arrange a kind of tournament day etc. for guests - but wouldn't want to monopolize the space if there's not a couple courts. (Told you it was bizarre)

So of course I freaked thinking if her weekend was booked, mine was certainly booked! My TA called and said that ALL weekends in 2011 are booked, and that this is because Azul Beach is doing renovations/construction in 2011. Apparently, pretty serious construction. At this point, my TA didn't know if it would be going on during my wedding or after, but there's a very good chance it will be. So...long story short...I may have to change resorts! Aaaack! OMG I am so sorry to hear this! I am on the AS threat too. I've heard that the beach is doing renos on the spa/salon part but didn't know it was supposed to be THAT serious that it would affect room availability and weddings etc. I really hope this works out for you girl. Will keep my fingers crossed. How could they not tell people this when they're making wedding reservations?!?
  6. Hi All: Thanks RosieP for linking me here. I had posted on a different May 2011 thread that I couldn't find this one. appreciate the help I'm getting married May 27, 2011 at Azul Sensatori. My name's Kelsey and I'm from Vancouver, BC. Going to go back now and try and catch up on this thread. Just wanted to introduce myself. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

I can totally understand the stress that situation must be creating for you. Just sending positive vibes your way that it will all sort out.
  10. Hi there. I'm May 27, 2011. Maggie I searched May 2011 and didn't find another thread?! Am I missing something? (could be, I'm very non-tech savvy).
  11. strange, I typed in the actual URL address and the webpage title showed up!

  13. Hi All, Just thought I'd introduce myself, as I'm another 2011 bride. I've been hanging around the Azul Sensatori thread only so far, as that's where we're having our wedding. But thought this might be a good group of ladies to join too and share ideas and experiences with as I go. Not sure if I'll be able to fully catch up on all 200+ pages of this thread but I've skimmed through them a bit and I'm sure I'll jump in to the swing of things around here with you ladies quickly enough. so... Hi! Oh, real name is Kelsey by the way

Will still be sending out formal invitations soon. Quote: Originally Posted by MaggieandJay Awesome! Usually you get banned for 1 or 2 weeks for most things. I think they can do an ultimate ban to - but you'd probably have to spam or push sales on to people to get the lifetime ban. Helllooo! I second guessed even after I booked at Azul. I think its natural to second guess - especially if you have an issue with your WCs or prices go down at the other resort, etc! What was your list of "needs" and "wants" in a resort? That might help you choose. I have not gone to a Dreams before, but love to research online! I would consider the reception and ceremony locations between the 2 places plus the extras you want and total cost if your budget if tight. Thanks both for the info re: banning. I had no idea. (Especially re asking people to email attachments). AmyB about our price I think it is great too - we're lucky! Of course, it's a lot more than that from different gateways so not ALL our guests get such a great deal - but most of them. It's amazing though how quickly people will complain about how expensive it is. It's frustrating when I've work sooo hard with my TA to try and get such an amazing resort at such a REASONABLE rate. Still, people will always complain about something right?! Quote: Originally Posted by taylorwd Taylorwd's To Do's 5. Order banner - DONE We already have it and it looks sooooo good! 16. Hi all: Boy, it's easy to get behind around here :-) Hope you all had a great weekend. The sun is FINALLY shining for us over here in Vancouver. It has been a miserable rainy spring so it was nice to finally get outside and enjoy June this weekend. Quote: Originally Posted by MaggieandJay Orignally we were looking at with flight and 5 days and 4 nights - 2 people to a room $1000 a person. What are they quoting you? We're coming from all over and different prices for different locations but from Vancouver our price is $1540pp for 7 days (Wed. to Wed), 2 people to a room. We were originally looking at different dates and the price was WAY higher. But of course, we're booking through a Canadian company who arranges the price with AS (not directly with the resort) so not sure if that's any help for you. We will go out to dinner, have the limo (or pink cadi) pick us up, and take us to the wedding chapel. hahaha Then we will go out afterwards. My brother and his gf are going, and maybe 1 other couple. I am still debating on which "theme" I want to do, but it is going to be HYSTERICAL!!! Dueling Elvis's, Blue Hawaii, Pink Cadillac, etc are all SO funny. I really cannot wait!!! Sounds FANTASTIC! Now with that said it's not like I have to block rooms but to get the current promotion they are running you do. Any Advice? Side Note: Current promotion if you block or outright book 20 or more rooms you get 20% off room rates and 20% off private events Don't know if I'm much help on the room blocking stuff. We're going through a local TA here and they arrange a whole package for hotel and air. But we DO have to have at least 10 guests committed right away and deposit $300 each. Then everyone else has about another 20 days to book in at the guaranteed group rate. After that it's availability only etc. So I guess that's the same as booking the rooms directly? If I left it with the resort, they'd charge you $300 to use it, even though I was the one who bought it That would be hysterical. I sent in our deposit and we are officially getting married at AS!!!! so excited! We put down the 10 deposits this week to hold a group rate with our TA and then people only have about a month to join the group at the held rate. I better get on STDs real fast. We're planning to do email STDs and then traditional invitations (for the time factor mainly).
  22. I know this has been covered before but I've forgotten - would anyone mind telling me how to do multiple quotes in one message so I can stop writing 3 or 4 in a row (and probably irritating everyone in the process) :-) THANKS!!

The funniest part is while making cuts with both decided we CANNOT cut the Mexican Donkey Cocktail Party. The Donkey seems to be the one keeping us sane when stress kicks in. I think of getting a beer from the donkey and suddenly everything is ok! Good News is budget is now back under a mangeable amount and next stop get this resort BOOKED!!! YAH! In GOOD NEWS I got an email confirmation for my appt at J. Crew Wedding Boutique in NYC. I will be up there for business in July so I am going to MY FIRST offical Dress outing to see what they have. Up till now it's been all on the internet! Congrats on getting it confirmed. I'm at about the same exact stage. We've started booking etc. but are STILL waiting to hear from the onsite coordinators that we can have the reception at Plaza Zavaz for sure. My Miami WC (Carolina) says she doesn't see how it would be a problem but is waiting for written confirmation. Also so exciting about the wedding dress outing! Sometimes you ladies make me think I am so far behind in my planning...eek!

I haven't really looked into it too much yet (because I'm nowhere NEAR that point in my planning) but, I know that Ikea sells some sheer/organza type curtains for pretty cheap (I think under $5 per panel). Their standard curtain is just under 10 ft. I think. For what it's worth it might be something some people want to look into.

How does anyone book a trip anymore with Trip Advisor making you second guess every decision Not sure if I did the quote right. I've heard that the Maroma is GORGEOUS and also the Royal Hideaway Playadelcar is to die for as well. (for what it's worth) As for Trip Advisor, it drives me NUTS!! My mother is on it constantly comparing all the resorts we've considered. Good thing is, her conclusion is that AS has the fewest negative reviews, as they ALL have their critics!
