We are bringing a photographer with us to Ocho Rios. We arranged a deal that we would pay for his trip and he will shoot the ENTIRE WEEK instead of just the wedding day - candids, family shots and an engagement shoot prior to the wedding. He normally charges minimum $250 an hour for a wedding shoot. This is the best deal by far that we found, above and beyond hiring a photographer from the resort who will only shoot for the day. We will receive a book of proofs and an album and will pay for parent's albums, any enlargements and thank you cards. If you can, I'd suggest trying to find someone to bring with you for your destination or just gather all the pictures that your guests take and create an album from those. Hope this is of some help!

I want to order fans and favours and OOT bags and have no clue how many I should buy. Sure don't want to waste money buying too many. Geez. I think I'm going to pick a number and go with it. Anyone who doesn't get an OOT bag for waiting last minute - oh well! I feel your pain! We have 47 booked right now, wedding is on July 20th. Our first booking was for a July 8th wedding and we had to reschedule because the plane/resort filled up and our wedding party hadn't booked yet. Now, there are about 5 more people who are telling us that they want to come but are waiting for the cheapest price possible. It might give me a stroke before all is said and done. I have to arrange dinner and ceremony seating for all the guests and the late-bookers are making this very difficult. On top of this, the restaurant I booked only accommodates up to 50 people and if everyone books we'll be at 52 which means we'll have to pay and rent a private restaurant (our dinner is semi-private right now). But who knows if they'll book....
  3. Hello! I really wanted to share my thoughts on to have or not to have a reception. My fiancee has a huge family and we invited 125 to our wedding (July 20th, 2pm ROR). We currently have 47 booked which is kind of bigger than we anticipated but makes for a great party! Our ceremony is at 2 then a champagne reception. Dinner is at 6:30 at Mammee Bay restaurant booked and then the Seagrape beach bar from 8:30 until 11pm. Because our group is large, we really wanted to have a traditional reception (my fiancee is Greek as well and we have to have enough room to throw down the Greek dancing). We also are having a reception at home in the fall for those who couldn't make it. We wanted to just rent a restaurant and have a dinner with a slideshow and our thank you speech. What is the obligation/etiquette for a full-blown reception with a dj and dancing? Is dinner for 100 people a decent alternative? We don't want a second 'reception' at home but is that what is expected?
  4. I also worry about the privacy (beach ceremony at ROR July 20). I was at a wedding in Mexico at Mayan Rivera as a guest and I saw the topless women lingering on the periphery of the ceremony area. The couple didn't notice and their photographer did an excellent job of avoiding these onlookers. We hired the same photographer and am bringing him from Toronto to our wedding because he did such a great job.
  5. Thanks for the warm welcome!!

I think I've seen it in one pic before but I'm not sure. Hi! I don't have a picture of the palm trees unfortunately. They are described as 'Palm trees wrapped in white sheer and white lights' which sounds good to me! They are $35 per tree. We also have lit cocktail tables for the Seagrape beach bar which is where our after dinner dancing will take place. pastedGraphic.pdf
  7. Hello! Getting married July 20, 2010 and I have ordered my wedding decorations/flowers from Tai Flora. The mahogany chairs with white cushions (in those photos) are $9 per chair - I ordered these for my wedding because they just look spectacular in the sand! I really love the lanterns as well but we are having our reception on the beach and there isn't a structure to support them, building one started at $900. I opted for 8 wrapped palm trees with white sheer fabric and lights for a fraction of the cost.
  8. July 20, 2010 RIU Ocho Rios Just finalizing starting our plans with vendors etc. I am using Tai Flora for flowers/decor but sticking to the basic package for cake, dinner etc. We have 47 people booked with 5 weeks to go! Does anyone have any advice for this venue? I have read a lot of reviews but they are from 2-5 years ago so I don't know how relevant they are now.
  9. I also want to test out all the gadgets on this site
