  1. I love the seating RSVPs! I am absolutely going to to this!
  2. Do yo have an 'E' by chance? Where can I find these cake toppers? I live in Toronto but there's no Michael's or anything around me. Will bakeries have them?

It's frustrating because we are also giving our guests OOT bags! We are placing final orders around September 1st... We will over 5 extra. Other than that, people will be s**t outta luck. This is where we are at now. We have a couple of people who tell us they want to book but as of right now, the 3 flights that accommodate our wedding that are available through our package are full. These people who have not booked have to fend for themselves. We have been reminding people but there are other things that need our attention. My rsvp date was in March because our original package/flight was to Bahamas and it sold out, so we switched to Jamaica and called everyone over 1 weekend to tell them the new plans/get booking information so we could just book everyone ourselves. But still, we wait for the last minute travelers. I am with you about them finding their own transportation. We have booked extra everything - chairs for the ceremony, seats at dinner etc. because they won't say 'no' they aren't coming...they just haven't booked yet. I can't organize hotel transportation for 'maybes'.
  4. There's another great store that I just discovered - Creative Bag It's in Toronto, Dufferin just south of Finch, and is FANTASTIC - they have all kinds of gift bags, boxes, ribbons etc. as well as a limited amount of guest favours/hostess gifts. They also have a printing service and can put your monogram (or whatever you would like) on the gift bags. I just bought 50 organza bags for confetti, 36 blank cards, 1 hat box, 2 garment boxes and ribbon for $32. Here's the website: http://www.creativebag.com/
  5. Hi! Where did you find "the Bride" purse? I am in west Toronto and leave in 9 days for Jamaica but would love to get my hands on one!
  6. I emailed her on July 2nd and again on July 5th and have heard nothing. The last email I received from the RIU was on June 12 from Chandlyn.

  8. This is from TripAdvisor, dates July 1 2010: "In terms of weddings, the current wedding planner is new, and really unhelpful! She was on her cellphone during the ceremony when we were waiting for her to release the birds. Once we tracked her down, she told us they couldn't be released in the rain, but hadn't told us that earlier and acted like we were stupid for asking. She also refused to decorate or take care of other details that should absolutely be included in the wedding coordination. If you are an extremely laid-back bride, you will be okay, but if you like to know what will happen and when (like me!), you will be stressed out." Chandlyn had told me that she'll take care of fans on ceremony chairs/place cards for dinner/the details of the beach reception (tiki torches that are included in the package). I may have a stroke if this Tina tells me that she won't make good on Chandlyn's word. I just want to get married. I never thought a DW would be this stressful.
  9. Our parent's dance is "Constellations" by Jack Johnson. It was such a hard decision! We originally decided on "Into your Arms" by the Lemonheads but it's a faster song and we kept fighting about how to dance to it. We switched to "Lost Together" (as I mentioned above) just this past weekend. We both love Blue Rodeo, a good Toronto band!
  10. I don't know. I don't know what bothers me more - the fact that no one told us about the change OR the fact that they still aren't replying!

I settled for generic seashells bought from the dollar store (a huge bag for $1.50) and more elegant ones from Pottery Barn (1 bag for $20 I think).

The staff are amazing! I called them with all kinds of questions about parasol length etc. to make sure they would pack in our luggage and they were so friendly and helpful. My order arrived to my house in about a week from ordering.
  13. Update: I leave in 11 days and need to get a move on! We had 2 separate groups of friends in town for Canada Day/Independence Day and I got nothing done! Needs to be finished: place cards fans for ceremony confetti bags guest book 'reserved ' signs for parent's chairs for ceremony parent's gifts (handkerchiefs for dads, pashminas for moms) kids table activities for reception dinner (to keep them occupied) arrange a cat-sitter pick up wedding dress music for reception hair coloured/trial ....there's probably more but I just can't think of it right now. 11 days and counting.
  14. Thanks! I haven't decided yet...less than 2 weeks to go so I better get on it!

I didn't even get 50% of my RSVP's back, most ppl do ignore them. I found out mainly from my TA would had booked, and just from talking to others I know who's still interested in coming. Due to the large size of the wedding, we've decided on doing a private reception with a DJ and dancing. Even with this size we're budgeting $13000, max $15000. This price includes everything! Flight, accomodation, wedding, attire, gifts, photographer, rings, etc. I really don't forsee us spending more than that. The only thing with having a larger wedding is that I feel more pressure to make sure everything goes well and that everyone has a good time. Ppl are paying a lot of money to come and celebrate with us and I don't want to let them down! How did you decide on a dj? Can you bring music for them to play (wedding song etc) and then they take care of the rest?

  18. Does anyone know if the dj equipment has an ipod dock or another way to connect an ipod to the equipment? I am pulling my hair out to get this question answered. Knowing that Chandlyn got fired makes sense for the month-long delay in email responses but I really just need to know if we should bring our own dock or if they have one.
  19. My future mother in law is a seamstress and is making all the dresses (MOH, BM, FG). I bought their shoes and parasols for the ceremony, wrist corsages for ceremony, and paying for their hair and makeup. I also made them silver linked bracelets and bought earrings for them. For the flower girls, they have bracelets and I bought them hair clips for the ceremony.
  20. My dad had major back surgery last year and was wheelchair bound for months. He has been working so hard in physio to be able to walk me down the isle! I kind of want my mom to walk me down as well but don't want to steel his thunder. Is there any other way to include my mom in the ceremony? As of right now, my brother is going to walk her down the isle ahead of me but I'd like to do something special.
  21. Whoever said that a DW is stress free lied! lol! We sent out 130 invitations, approx. 175 people were invited, and have a total of 51 booked so far. Here are the biggest stresses that we (really me, my FI is so laid back) incurred. 1. Slow to book. We couldn't book until the flight schedule came out in February which left us only days in turn around time for invitations. I know that some agents can book way in advance but a good friend of mine is an agent and this is the way they do it. So be it. We sent out the invitations (cards & pockets website - amazing job!). 2 weeks later, the flight sold out and no one had booked. My agent scrambled to find us an alternative and we ended up pushing the wedding back 14 days. We called every one of our guests and told them that they had to book ASAP or risk missing out again. Bottom line, with a large group, you can't control when they will book. This was (and is) the most stressful thing. 2. Price. We have a package that with every 16 people there is a group discount. For some, this isn't good enough and they wanted a cheaper price and different flight dates (we offered 3 different departure dates) etc. As a result, there are guests that booked through other agencies, I have no idea what they paid, but I also don't know if they get the transportation from the airport to the resort (an hour away) etc. and it's stressful because we feel (again, me not my FI) partly responsible for everyone getting to the resort safely. We leave in 13 days and 4 more people booked last week, makes for a good party but my agent has no idea of the actual numbers because they aren't all booking through her. 3. RSVPS - we've gotten less than 50 rsvp cars back. Some think that because it's a DW they don't have to reply. 4. Whishy-washy folk. Right now I have 3 guests that still want to book but want to book last-minute...or maybe they won't. Our group is at the maximum count for the restaurant we really want to eat at for our reception and if these last-minute bookers show up, I think we'll have to upgrade to the private venue, which is fine but I want to have all my ducks in a row before we get there and not be scrambling for a venue at the last minute. I won't really know the total number of guests until we get to Jamaica which makes it hard to plan a wedding that includes everyone in seating etc. We are paying for extra ceremony chairs just in case but I don't know what to do about dinner. Good luck planning!
  22. I'm getting married in Jamaica so our cert. will be in English but apparently it is going to be mailed to us up to 3 months after the ceremony. I have had friends who were married in DR and never received their marriage license after it was supposedly mailed. As a result she couldn't change her name because they don't have paperwork. I emailed the Registrar General on Friday to ask about a civil service after our destination wedding and am waiting for a reply. I just can't wrap my head around why they wouldn't allow it.
  23. My dress is really slim and not poufy. I can't hide a garter under there so I opted to not do it. I am not tossing my bouquet because only my sister is single out of our guests
