I am picking up my starfish next week - antique looking brushed metal with rhinestones and pale pink pearls. Use to be a broach but I am getting it altered to put in my bouquet I'll post a pic on my planning thread next week! -
Limes & peacock feathers centrepiece
JesseLyn10 replied to ~Angela~'s topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.

Maybe if you had half cut limes sitting on the bottom of the vase, then floating candles and the feathers. I think the limes could be used as a minimal accent that there should be space between them and the feather. It is a really great idea! -
Thanks for the advice Maureen! Yumyum, My mom is bringing her laptop and fingers crossed that there's wifi!

I left my OOT bags until the last minute and didn't want to risk ordering anything online in case it didn't arrive in time. My mom works at Shoppers Drug Mart and bought packs of gravol, benadryl, pepto, travel advil with her staff discount and I just divvy-ed up the gravol, benadry and pepto into equal parts (they come in the punch-out style and I just cut them up). Just a tip for those last minute brides like me! I also bought travel febreeze from Wal Mart - cheaper than anywhere else I've seen.

JesseLyn10 replied to Shakara's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
This is such a great review! I think I have read it 3-4 times trying to absorb all the advice for my trip. -

$20 CD VS. $350 for Steel Drums
JesseLyn10 replied to OROBride1008's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
My FI played steel drums in high school and really wants to have the band. It's killing me to spend that kind of money for an hour of music for our ceremony/champagne reception. -

But it was NO PROBLEM MON.... after a few arguments and back up from the mother of the bride and bridesmaids everything worked out PERFECTLY! I WILL be posting details in a review when I get home. Just wanted to make sure girls that are going down soon bring ALL the emails from chandlyn and ALL your documents. Thank GOD my HUSBAND came down a day later! I love you girlsssss ROR is FANTASTIC do NOT second guess your decision! You'll be hearing from me sooooon!!! BY THE WAY i HIGHLY suggest Couples Towers Isle for your honeymoon...... its AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Is Tina easy to find? I arrive at ROR next Friday and the wedding is on Tuesday but I don't want to spend days hunting her (or any coordinator) down. I am preparing for emergency situations as well - I haven't heard from the ROR in a month so I have no idea if we are on file somewhere, where we stand in our plans etc. We have a fall back plan of an off-resort wedding ...just in case

I'm in the gta, willing to go just about anywhere for a good deal and great bag. There's a store in Toronto called Creative Bag that I bought bags from. They have all kinds of bags and will print logos on! http://www.creativebag.com/ Good luck!

Sand favours! what a great idea!! I don't know if I trust 51 glass bottles in my luggage though, maybe I can get them in Jamaica...?

I LoVe that first white dress!! I am leaving in a week though and I don't think it'll get to Toronto in time

This is what I am worried about as well. We are getting married in a week in a half in Ocho Rios and it is supposed to rain. Apparently the showers are only minutes long but I have planned for a beach wedding. My girls are carrying parasols and my FGs have cute little hats - would look silly if we have to get married indoors, no? I am kind of into a cloudy day though, makes for great photos!

how many guests at your wedding?
JesseLyn10 replied to pat291's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
51 - including FI and myself. Out of this, 10 are kids under 10 yrs old. It's a little bigger than we expected when planning a DW but will make for a great party! -

Thank you very much! I am super detailed person (high school history teacher) and can guarantee you that my review will leave your questions answered! ~Keep Calm and Carry On~ (my mantra these days - was a slogan for the British Government during WWI - how's that for a history nerd for you!) -

Ladies I am getting married July 20 and have decided to not stress anymore. It's not helping anyone and it's only making me cranky. I will post a full review when I get home and hopefully it will alleviate your stresses as well! I haven't heard from the RIU in almost a month but one way or another we are coming home married! If I have to hire a minister myself and do it in the jungle somewhere it's going to happen! -

I'll keep my eye out. We weren't going to do a cake topper but I really love these initials! Thanks!

That's what I was preparing for - thanks! It's been so hot here in Toronto that when I go for my fittings I am usually sweating from the humidity. I suppose it's great practice for Jamaica! -
Arrival in JA Prior to wedding
JesseLyn10 replied to Virtuous's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We had originally booked our flight on a Tuesday and the only available wedding date was the Thursday - I emailed the RIU and told them that we can't be in the country due to the flight schedule and they said it was fine and that the 48 hour rule is not so much a rule but a guideline. Passengers off of cruise ships that port in Montego Bay arrive, get married and leave the same day. Hope this helps! -

Does anyone know what Jamaica is like in July? We are getting married at RIU Ocho Rios on the beach @ 2pm ...so will there be a breeze? can I stick with hair down or should I prepare for a messy chignon/side bang kinda 'do? -
I can't believe that I leave in 9 days, married in 13. I just finished my confetti bags and packed them in a box for travel. I still have to cut out my fan programs and finish those, make the place cards for dinner, printout and organize all the correspondence with my WC (the WC at the ROR has changed so I have to be super prepared), hand out all the flight tickets/hotel vouchers to my guests (we asked for them to be sent to us from our TA so we can make sure everyone gets them), final fitting is tomorrow and then I pick up my dress next week...there's probably more but I can't think of the rest right now. Alls I can say is that I can't wait until I am on the beach with a daiquiri in each hand.
