  1. I know ChocolateBrides.com does, as well as African American Brides Blog. Hope that helps!
  2. Some more cake inspirati. It's amazing what can be done with sugar, eggs, and flour, lol.
  3. Try the BDW Travel Agents (Tammy the host is the proprietor). I believe they are the Wright Travel Agency or PM Tammy and she'll assign someone to you. All the best!
  4. Katiem: You are spot on. Just be upfront with people. Truth hurts, but it'll make things better in the long run. My guests knew they had to go thru me to invite plus-ones. It was just that simple. I said, "They can come, but they won't be invited to the wedding." People have to respect your wishes. It's not Spring Break, it's not just a vacation. They can do that mess on their own time and their own dime, lol.
  5. @krsmith: I think all he did was lay the lamp on its side against a black surface (looks like velvet even) and positioned the rings.
  6. I thought about doing that too, but was just adding to my list of things to carry. That means more weight for my checked bags. Not sure how amenable you are to this suggestion, but maybe you could ask the resort to rent reception tables that can go bare. Like these below and in this link: http://www.serendipity-photography.com/2009/04/29/loranihector-wedding-part-3-puerto-vallarta-photography/. That way, you won't have to worry about linens and things (sorry for the pun, lol). You can just do a runner or nothing at all.
  7. @KeraSmiley: Your hair looked great down! I loved how Sol was in your picture, lol.
  8. I'm really excited about my honey's gift. I'm getting him a pair of Armani suede loafers to wear to the wedding. I've specifically instructed my photographer to be with him when he gets the gift. I wanna see what his reaction was like. He didn't want BD pics of me (concerns about my future success and pics ending up in the wrong hands), so I chose designer shoes. He would never buy for himself, but he loves when I buy them for him. Getting excited just thinking about!
  9. I'm all about the elevator lighting and staring at my ring, lol. I just stare at it a lot in general, but especially under lighting that's reminiscent of the lighting at the jewelry store.
  10. You can get a lace front like Tyra did. You could also do a partial sew-in so your edges are out.
  11. When he normally gets his hair cut, how long does it take for his line to fade?
  12. For all our Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit (Nuevo Vallarta) brides, here's a little video to get you in the mood all over again! http://vimeo.com/12490391
  13. For any brides considering Grand Velas Riviera Maya, check out a wedding that took place there recently, here: http://vimeo.com/22519114
  14. What style of dress are you wearing? It's hard to tell since we don't know what you look like, any makeup trials, etc.
  15. Then you need to apply to Tammy, the Moderator for vendor status. I think posting like you did is disallowed.
  16. Thanks Mishka. Well, I'll have to let my girls know they may not be able to do my clubbing in June, lol.
  17. Ours is an Adinkra symbol called the "gye nyame". It means "Except God". I wanted to incorporate elements of DH's African, specifically Ghanaian, background. I got it in the mail a few days ago, and I love it!
  18. Tammy, the host of this forum has a travel agency you can find here: http://www.wrighttravelagency.com/ They'll pass you onto to someone who specializes in your area.
  19. Even if my girls did wear weave (I'm the only one on that train, lol), I wouldn't pay for it to get done. Unless you know someone who does it real cheap and you don't have 19 bridesmaids, then I guess it could be a go. Makeup and a hairstyle is it. You don't want to overextend yourself. I think the whole point of a DW is to get away from those miscellaneous costs that can come with a local wedding. If I were you, I'd make it very clear what you're paying for. I think because some destination brides (not saying you specifically) can feel a bit guilty that guests have to pay so much to be at your wedding, that we can get a little carried away in terms of what we pay for. Don't go overboard. Do what you can afford.
