  1. I really thought having a destination wedding would be a fun and casual celebration that would give everyone an excuse for a vacation. But nobody is excited! My FI's family kept bugging us to find an all-inclusive on St. Thomas, and we did, but now they're saying it's too expensive. Everyone is just fixating on the cost! I'm seriously ready to scrap the whole idea and go to the courthouse. I know I shouldn't care what other people think, but I do, and I really thought my wedding would be different, but it's actually just making things a million times more difficult.
  2. I stayed there last year, and I'm actually staying there again this weekend while I plan my DW. Although I've never seen the indoor reception facilities, the outdoor site is beautful. The restaurants are lovely - especially Blue Havana - and the terrace is amazing. My only complaint has been that I can't get a hold of the actual wedding planning people to meet with them while I'm there. Unfortunately I can't give any budget advice yet. I'm looking for a economically-friendly wedding for 50 people as well, so I'll post more after my trip this weekend.
  3. Thanks so much! I e-mailed your contact, Sarah Michelle, and I'll let you know what he says. I actually spoke with Diane, MDLady, and she was so nice! If we can't find a rabbi, we're definitely going with her. Thanks!
  4. So, I'm going to be getting married in the US Virgin Islands, and the future Mother-in-Law keeps insisting it won't be legal since some of the people doing weddings down there might not be accredited. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
  5. Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations for St. John? I'm looking to have my reception at a restaurant, and I really wanted to do it at Zozo's, but they don't allow children under 5. Thoughts?
  6. These are so cute! I actually saw these when I did a Google image search of destination wedding save-the-dates, and I definitely borrowed your idea. So creative and unique!!!!
  7. Hi all! I'm trying to find a rabbi for a wedding on St. Thomas or St. John. (Haven't decided on which yet.) The rabbi at the synagogue on St. Thomas charges $2000, and I think that's outrageous! Can anyone recommend an alternative?
