  6. Thanks ladies! Super exciting AND scary time!! Hope all my fellow November 2011 brides are doing well!
  7. That seems very high. Is that school vacation week, is that why maybe it's a bit higher? Myself and my husband had return flights from Boston, 13 nights/14 days at the Barcelo Palace club premium, and then we transferred to the Excellence Riviera Maya for 6 nights/7 days for our honeymoon and the whole thing cost us just under $3,000 each. Did you compare the travel agent quotes with online prices such as Expedia, Apple Vacations etc to ensure you are getting quoted in the right ball park?
  8. I agree Eun-sil, how time flies! Scary really! That is a great idea about donating your wedding dress to charity. I was so torn, I feel like I want to keep it (for what I don't know), but it seems like such a waste when someone else could use it. For my TTD, I am thinking of getting it cut and having a baptism dress made with the material ..... yup Mike and I are expecting our first baby in August!! There must have been something in the water in Mexico because we never expacted we would be lucky enough to get pregnant on the first try!!
  9. It seems no one knows exhaustion like a pregnant woman! I think it's God's way of preparing me for lack of sleep for at least the next 18 years :-) Had dinner at my in-laws today, showed my sis in law 4 different scans of our baby and this was the response to all 4 pictures in order - "Just looks like a UFO (scan 1), oh that's an elephant (scan 2), this one looks like a rat (scan 3), oh and that just looks like a curled up possom (scan 4)", and then she tosses the pictures aside. All his family were laughing, thought this was the funniest thing they ever heard and I had to bite my tongue not to say anything and to hold back tears. When I got home I'm ashamed to admit I did have a cry, but my mind can't seem to figure out whether I should have been upset or whether it's just hormones?? Maybe it's just mama mode setting in and I got defensive of my baby, but I really think if this had been said in front of me about someone else I still would have found it rude and inappropriate. Anyways, after dealing with in-laws for the day, and then a good old cry, I am all ready for a good nights sleep, LOL!
  10. Any updates on names Carly? I love all the names you listed, but I especially love Milo (it's in my top 5 for a boy too!). I was born and bred in Ireland so am also thinking of a traditional Irish name as an option, but growing up around all Irish names it doesn't sound as appealing to me as it does to my husband! For a boy I do like Liam, but not sure for a girl. Hope you and your hubby have found a name you both love.
  11. Hi ladies! I've been stalking this thread for a few weeks now waiting to start my 2nd trimester, and now that I am there I am so glad I can join this group! We were married in the Riviera Maya in November and were lucky to get pregnant just 2 weeks later, with our first baby due in late August. We are over the moon! Told our parents Christmas morning and then had the super long wait up to just a few days ago before telling the rest of our family and friends, and now that everyone knows I can post on here, yay! Pregnancy so far has been good. I've had no sickness at all, and no aversions to any food, in fact it's been the opposite, sometimes it feels there isn't enough food on this planet to satisfy my appetite, LOL! Only downsides so far is severe exhaustion (nothing prepared me for this!!) and pretty bad constipation. The mixture of tiredness and hormones has resulted in a few mini meltdowns, I couldn't even watch commercials without crying! A few weeks back we found out I was a carrier of CF, something I never knew, and not having facts and information it was quite upsetting at the time. My husband immediately went for testing too and it was the longest week ever but thank God he came back negative, so worse case scenario our baby will be a CF carrier too, although maybe not. We plan to find out at the end of March if we are having a boy or a girl, which will hopefully cut our arguments about names in half, LOL! I'll keep you posted!
  12. We were married at the Barcelo on November 17th but were in Mexico from the 6th through the 25th (yes almost 3 weeks between wedding and honeymoon!!). Early Novemeber is considered low season, and on November 15th the rates went up as you move into high season. We knew when we booked that we were taking a risk on the weather, but a tiny risk compared to late August through October. The first half of our trip it rained every single day, although they were mostly half hour showers. It would either pour in the mornings around 8 or 9, or like most days the rain would roll in around 1pm. The second half of the trip we didn't see a drop of rain!
  13. Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the forum. So much useful information on here, this site will be your life line during your planning process!
  14. Congrats and welcome to the forum!!
  15. In short : Previously Adrian and his team were able to enter the Barcelo Resort without any cost (no day passes, no fees). So the price he quoted brides for services was going straight into his pocket. However starting recently (I guess I was one of the first brides in November that this happened to), the Barcelo told Adrian that to cover the loss of business to the resort spa, Adrian would have to pay 30% of his fee to the Barcelo, and 70% would be for Adrian and his team. My total for Adrian was $550, but instead of paying all of that to him, I instead gave him $385 (plus tip) and paid the $165 balance to the Barcelo. In order to recoup this 30% loss he is not encurring, Adrian is increasing his 2012 prices. Hope that makes sense to you.
  16. Vistaprint have been sending tons of coupons for free magnets and postcards lately so it's a great time to sign up!
  17. We were just married in November and were in Mexico from November 6th to 25th. The weather was beautiful, but for the first half of the trip it rained most afternoons. Right around lunch time the rain clouds would roll in, it would pour for half an hour or so but the sun would come back out again. Remember also in November the days are shorter. I've been on holidays where I've still been laying on the beach at 7pm, but at this time of year the sunset around 5:15pm. It was perfect for us though, we were up early for breakfast, on the beach for 9, done by 3, nap and shower and ready for dinner!
  18. We put the location and time, but ended up moving the cermony forward by one hour and just told everyone individually when we were down there. It was no big deal anyways as guests were asking about the location anyways and we had to tell everyone where to meet and at what time to take the little bus to the ceremony. These are our invitations - http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/74340/joannes-diy-boarding-pass-invitations-with-photos-and-template
  19. LOL, I never thought I'd say it but I do miss the hoopla! I still like logging in here and helping future brides who will be married at my resort. I'm also still addicted to looking at the wedding dress thread, haha! I need to get on changing my name too but put it off because of the total headache of it plus the expense. To change my green card alone (had that in maiden name over a year before we were married) is going to cost me $500. Plus I'll need a new Irish passport and Irish drivers license, also more $$. I don't even know where to start! Courtney I didn't reply to your email because my Hotmail account was hacked and I can't get into it anymore ;-( Why do people do that?! Anyways, hope everyone is having a great time being a Mrs. We plan to do something nice on our 3 month anniversary.
  20. It's not airbrushed but they use everything MAC. For my wedding day I used Adrian and his team for hair and makeup. Adrian did the airbrush makeup. The following day I did my TTD shoot and used the Barcelo Spa for hair and makeup. Feedback and pics a few pages back on this thread.
  21. Hello November brides! Hope everyone had a great 2 month anniversary and that married life is treating you well!!
