  1. Soon to be McRae, check this store on ebay - gianinarbridal items - Get great deals on wedding dress bridalgown, party evening or bridalmaid items on eBay Stores!. Reading previous posts this one seems to be the most common that other brides have used. You can pay a deposit of US$60 and they will send you "proofs" of the dress before it is ready and you can back out if you want. The $60 is for bridal dresses so maybe it's less for bridesmaids, not sure though. You can browse their webpage and pick any dress you want and then choose a color, OR you can email them pictures of a dress you like and they will reply will a quote on how much to make that one. I contacted them via Ebay and told them i had pictures of a wedding dress I wanted replicated and could they provide an demail address and they said to use [email protected]. I haven't had a chance to get back in touch with them again but I'll let you know how it goes. If you want to read the thread on here about the knock off wedding dresses, then check out http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ts-here-36700/. I warn you it's long and addictive so make sure you pour yourself a glass of wine first!! Hope this helps and good luck!!

  5. NR Landers, thanks so much for the review! So excited reading it!! Michelle, which package are you doing? I didn't think any of them included a cocktail hour? We are doing the strawberry package and thought the cocktail hour was optional and at a charge?
  6. Oh diamondpooch that would have been great but we can't do late May as our best man has another wedding at the end of May that he needs to be home for. But thank you so much for the offer! So how did it work getting a photographer from home? Do you pay all expenses for them and their partner? On top of that is there still a high charge for services?
  7. ANY MAY 2011 BRIDES WANT TO SHARE A PHOTOGRAPHER?? We have a tentative date of May 6th 2011 booked for our wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace. I am currently researching photographers in the US, and investigating flying someone and their assistant in. Believe it or not it can actually work out about the same price as hiring someone local, and I think I'd feel more comfortable without the language barrier! Is anyone getting married within that same time frame that would like to share a photographer? Joanne
  8. Hello Photographers! We are at the very early stages of planning our destination wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace on May 6th 2011. We are considering flying in a photographer and his/her assistant for a few days so they can capture the rehearsal dinner, full day wedding coverage and a trash the dress session a few days later. If they are there a few days beforehand, maybe we can do a very belated short engagement shoot also! I would be looking to have the pictures edited and placed on a CD with all rights. Ideally it would be great to pick my favorites and have them set to music on a slideshow. Any other suggestions would be appreciated too. It would be great if there were any other brides in the same area at the same time who were also interested, so the photographer could extend stay and do more than one wedding, and us brides could split the cost. Please email me if you are intertested! Thanks, Joanne

  17. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I know how you feel! We've been engaged almost 3 months and the past 2 months have been a headache between where to have the wedding and hesitation from family who were not supportive of a destination wedding. But once we decided on a date and resort, a lot of the pressure was off. Good luck!
