  1. we also put it on our STD and invites. In order to also have our guests check out our site, we are having them RSVP via our website. We thought it was a good way to make sure they definite visit it!
  2. I like the nude sketch idea I was also leaning towards the BD, but now there is a whole different unique option! This is going to be a difficult decision!
  3. Hey there, My MOH is also in a completely different state than i am and i definitely want her to feel a part of the party since the rest of my bridesmaid are local. So I just make sure to keep her in the loop over the phone with all my plans to date and if i am e-mailing the bridesmaid about dress shopping for their BM dresses, she is in the e-mail. I give her the option to fly down for all the dress shopping activities, but also when we go dress shopping for the BM's, i send her pics of the dresses that the girls liked and i make sure to get her input and even try to find stores in her area that she may be able to try on the same dresses! I don't know how far in the process you are with all your wedding plans, but while i am planning, i always send her pictures of what i like for centerpieces, flowers, colors and ask for her opinion. To be honest, since it is a destination wedding, you are doing most everything online anyway, so she really can't feel left out. She also knows that i will let her be in charge of organizing the shower and bachelorette party (problem at the same weekend so she doesn't have to fly too many times during my wedding year). So that right there is definitely keeping her in the loop! I hope this helps, but i think you'll be fine in keeping her in th eloop and not making her fee left out since she doesn't live there. Also, another suggestion if you really are feeling guilty if you have a mac or webcam, you can always bring that with you to the dress shopping with your other BM's and she can feel like she's there by seeing the girls try dresses on! Just a thought! I did that with my wedding dress with my dad since he lives in another country!
  4. You should try to fill the bottle up as much as possible and then fill the remaining bottle (hopefully not too much left) with gorilla glue and then you can permanently seal it this way and then the sand won't shift or the top won't come off. That's what I will be doing!
  5. aww, now i'm thinking i should include my doggie in the table numbers!
  6. I haven't seen the mag yet, so i don't know what they look like, but check oriental trading as they have message in a bottle with scrolls on their site and do not cost much. They sell in bulk!
  7. Thanks all for your responses! I'll be arriving Tuesday then for the legal ceremony and the wedding is on a saturday! My Save the dates are going out October 1st! I can't wait! =)
  8. Quick question, how many days in advance are you girls getting there prior to your actual wedding day? I know we need to be onsite 2 days in advance, but are you all getting there earlier than the two days? Thanks! Ska Ska
  9. Thanks Jenn, i figured they would go up. I wonder if they will honor the old prices if we booked in advance for 2011.... I'll ask my WC and see what she says!
  10. Hey Schicha! I did a site visit in April of this year. I rented a car and it was really easy to get around! It was definitely worth it! I stayed at IFA VIllas Bavaro as it was the cheapest and it turned out to be a great resort! No complaints! I made reservations with WC for site visits in advance and visited all the Dreams Properties and Excellence.
  11. Hi SChicha, Congrats on starting your wedding plans! Someone just recently asked the question as to why we chose one over the other and a few brides responded. Go back a few pages and you'll see all the responses. Plus if you go back further, you'll have most if not all your quetions answered already! Goodluck and welcome to the forum! Ska Ska
  12. Hi Jenn, We are having a welcome dinner the night before our wedding and we are going to have it on the beach. The cost is going to come out to like $45 per person for 3 hours of open bar and buffet style food since they have to hire people to cook and bring out cocktails.... but i think if you show up at a restaurant when it opens you should be be able to get a group sat down together or close to each other. Thanks, Ska Ska
  13. Hi Jenn, When I went to Punta Cana in May, I looked at both of the resorts and met with the WC at both locations. The WC i found at DPB was actually pretty rude. She may have been really busy, but i found that to be a negative since I would have to work with her from NY. Also, the main reason I did not choose DPB is because they had no terraces for our reception and that was a main criteria. I love DPC as the beach is pretty private from the other resorts since it is completely out of the way. So you don't have guests from other resorts just walking onto the property to visit. DPB was a beautiful property and more modern, so if you go that route, it won't be a bad choice. It ust didn't have the criteria i was looking for for my wedding. Hope this helps! Ska Ska
  14. Hello Ladies, The ride is about an hour. I rented a car when I was there and the ride is completely smooth and beautiful! It's mostly country, so you'll see lots of banana plants, farms, and mountains. As for guests booking last minute, I will be putting my deadline on my invites for folks 3 months prior to my wedding date. If they don't, i mentioned that they may not be guranteed a room as they book up. So hopefully they will book in the timeframe.

Do I have to wait till I get there to see what they have available or should I just send her an email and request one of those now.... Ugh, wasn't trying to use either one of those locations but I guess I have no choice...either way I'm relieved now I'll keep you guys updated! Misty Hey Misty! I don't think you need to wait until you arrive in DR to get the Himitsu or El Patio. When I visited i put the request in on the spot along with my downpayment for what I wanted. Then Deyanira gave me a paper with all the details of my wedding. Including ceremony time and location. Thanks, Ska Ska
  18. Thanks Jackie! Picture helped out a lot to see it at night!

Also, how much are you paying for DJ Mannia? I am getting my DJ through the resort but I am starting to wonder if it is around the same price it may be a better option to book outside of the package. Thanks Jackie. I will look at the pictures on facebook, i must have missed them! =) As for our DJ, he is costing $850 USD for 4 hours, which includes lighting and all the sound system and songs. He required a 50% deposit, which i already made. You will also meet with him a day or two before the wedding to go over your playlist. He is very familiar with DPC. I chose not to use any of the vendors onsite as they were way too expensive. The dj on-site was cheap, but that didn't include MC services and also i believe it was less than 4 hours. For photographer, I also chose Michael Weiler instead of the one on-site. Onsite was charging you $10 per picture OR negative!! That's insanely expensive. So I will only be using them for the "free 50 pictures" that is included in my package during the ceremony. Hope this helps! Ska Ska
  20. Thank you Eliana! Finally, I can picture the difference! I was really hoping that something can be done to the Himitsu terrace reagrding the chinese lanterns....i guess not! =( I'm just concerned that it will be too dark on the Himitsu terrace during the reception.... we'll see. Maybe DJ Mannia will have additional lights we could use that aren't too tacky!

I was going to consider getting the chinese lanterns to hang, but when i visited, i forgot to ask if it's even possible to hang since there is no ceiling and i was lookint to hang across from the hallway where the undercover part is to the other end, where the balcony is.... Is this possible?

I will answer to any questions you have, so post them here and/or send me an email [email protected] By the way, I got married on the beach! I am beyond happy with my choice, by the way. They did a good job of clearing out people that were too close, but it wasn't private for sure! I didn't even notice if people walked in behind us during the ceremony, I was too wrapped up in what was going on By the way, I HIGHLY recommend the huppah! Not only did it look WAY, WAY better, but while DH and his groomsmen were waiting for us to arrive they took shelter under the canopy from the sun. We had a minor misunderstanding about the decoration of the huppah... I told her orange flowers, and then realized that it was the decorations for $350... so I quickly corrected her. When I got to the beach, I had some decorations on the huppah and I thought ''oh no, what will this cost us now, or will we have to fight it'' but when we received our bill today, they only charged us $175. So I wonder if she made a compromise because she made the mistake? They put orange and white flower petals down just before I walked down the ''aisle'', which made my Daddy cry... haha Before I go, I should mention that La Barcaza was one of the best decisions we made the whole trip! We would have liked to have it for one more hour though, so if you have the extra $250 in your budget to add it on (if you do La Barcaza) then definitely do it. I look forward ot hearing from you ladies! Congrats Nat!!! I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful pictures! I'm sure you're happy and sad that the wedding planning is finally over! I'm glad everything fell into place! Ska Ska

So now they are putting us on "El Patio terrace" which accomodates 50 people. I am about ready to jump ship and find a new resort. What do I do? I e-mailed Carolina, my WC, and simply said.. "Hey, you booked me, you knew "X" amount of people were slated to come, yet you sudo-booked the only site that holds our party? What am I supposed to do? Please tell me". 59 people are now booked. This should be an AWESOME fun time trying to find a new resort. Question, did you officially have the Himitsu terrace reserved and Sharon mistakenly double booked or had you just spoken to Sharon about your guest count but had not chosen any specific location? I would hate for this to happen to anyone else and I hope it works out for you! Keep us posted!
