  1. Thanks DR Bride. I would love to see the ppt and be reminded of the colors they have. i am thinking of the teal bows and maybe an accent for the table or bringing table runners from here.

We didn't use them, we just used the standard white table cloths and chair covers they already use and we brought our own napkins in our wedding colour.

  2. Hey there,

I am not doing group booking only because what i have found is that you need a certain amount of folks on the same flight going and coming. So most of my friends are coming form all over and all on different dates and airports. So i just posted on our website all the different online places to book vacation packages along with quotes we saw when we researched. I think this is easy enough.

To Soon To Be: If they were my invites, i would definitely redo it. They were free right, so I guess you won't have to pay too much to get them redone

To Shelly: I actually am thinking of bringing my own as $5.00 per bow is expensive when i'm going to need 120. (60 for ceremony and then 60 again for the reception) I can't imagine spending $600 on bows when online you can get them for SUPER Cheap, I'm talking $1 or less per bow. Couple things I'm torn about is 1) that if i do bring them, will they weigh a ton....with all these new restrictions on luggage amount/weight, i don't want to pay extra for luggage. 2) If i bring them with me, will i have to steam all 120 of them???? I can't imagine them not being wrinkled... I can probably see what the resort will charge to steam them, but i definitely don't want to be stuck in a room steaming bows. (Maybe like the organza material won't wrinkle?). I also asked the resort if I brought my own would they charge a set up fee and i was told no...so thank goodness for that.

  3. That is sooo nice of you! Thanks so much, I will totally friend you to see the pictures. I went to visit the resort last year prior to finalizing the wedding plans and when I got home, i had wished that I had taken more pictures of the terrace and stuff. Just to be able to better visualize it. Thanks again for sharing, this will totally help me out more! Especially if youahve some of the cetnerpieces. I have not seen any pictures of ones that brides have used from the resort, most of the brides here have been creative and put theirs together themselves, unfortunatley I'm not a great DIY person!  =(

If you'd like to see pictures (as I find the time to get them posted), you can add me as a friend on facebook under Stacy Hayward (Stacy Baiton). Just please put in the message somewhere that you're from this board and I will add you :) Debbie, the bride, is a part of this forum as well and I think she plans to give her review too. I can tell you that Dreams is AMAZING and it's the perfect backdrop for beautiful wedding photos!!

Good Evening Ladies,  I am just curious for the brides who were already married at Dreams.  Did you have to make your spa appointments ahead of time ? I am getting married in about 2 weeks and was just wondering if I should email to get the appointments made now or wait till I get there.

    Carey

    Hey Carey,

Deyanira told me that we could only make appointments up to 1 month out. So I would make an appointment now via e-mail or call them just in case, you don't want to risk not having a time for your hair/make-up.

The flower centerpieces are $100 per centerpiece and you are only getting flowers and a vase. If you have a centerpiece in mind, send your wedding coordinator your sample and she can then get a quote from the vendor she is using. This is what I was told when i asked Deyanira. I am in the process of figuring out what flowers i want and them I'm thinking of going to a local florist and having them done through them then through the resort. It may be cheaper, but not sure yet as I haven't searched for prices.

  6. OMG lilboltz, I'm actually quite surprised to ehar fo this extra $10 per person per hour cost for the extra reception hour....That'll be an extra $600 for us to just have the terrace for an additional hour.... Hmmmm..... I wonder if Deyanira will mention this cost in advance or will i not hear of it until the day of. Thanks for the heads up, I guess I need to factor that cost into our total.

I so hate how you can't negotiate anything here and how they nickel and dime you for everything. Oh well, i guess it's all worth it in the end!

DJ Mannia is amazing.  All of our guests were dancing or walking to/from the bar to get a fill-up and coming right back to the dance floor.  I would definitely ask the WC if DJ Mannia is for 3 or 4 hours.  The 4 hrs for our reception was $850 whereas the previous Dreams vendor DJ was $800 -- so kind of a steal getting an extra hour for only $50!  Just keep in mind that if you extend your reception it is $10 per person but we didn't really mind paying for the extra hour.  It was small beans in comparison to the entire wedding cost.

    Hey Morgan,

I'll be taking my dress in a garment bag, but it will be stuffed and in a cardboard protection so it can't get squished. I will definitely be carrying on the plane with me. I will not be risking it getting lost or damaged. So I think your friend is right to recommend this.

  8. I do have a question for the brides that have gotten married already. If you brought your own centerpieces (like vases) but no flowers, did they still charge you $100 per centerpiece for just the flowers? It seems so pricey $100 per centerpiece....But then again, i don't know what centerpieces cost, so can't really say that's pricey.

I was looking to have a submerged flower centerpiece, but wanted to use 3 different size vases per table, so not sure if the $100 would cover that.....

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again ladies for all your help!

  9. Hey Farlem,

I visited Sactuary Cap Cana back in April when I was scoping out resorts for our wedding. The resort is very beautiful. At that time, there was construction going on in a few areas and also it was not all inclusive. From my visit in April, i can tell you that the resort was very deserted, i felt like the only one on the resort. There was hardly anyone there and there wasn't much water activities to partake in. It looked like it was mainly for someone who just wants to lay on the sand all day. I don't know if much has changed since then (other than becoming all inclusive and adult only). If you are looking for adult only, you should check out Excellence resort, that is a very nice resort if you prefer to not honeymoon at Dreams Punta Cana. Hope this helps.

  10. Hi Jenny,

I would assume from the posts over the last year that most of them are not using the resort photographer. The reason for me was that they are charging a ridiculous price. They don't give you all the pictures that they take until you pay for each of them. Unlike Michael, it's a flat rate and he takes a ton of pictures and they are yours to keep. Also, the resort photographer charges per hour and also their videography is expensive. So after doing the math, we ended up getting a much better deal with Michael. Since we have a wedding package and get a photographer in the package, we will be using the resort photographer for free for our ceremony, so at that time we will have two photographers.

    Hope this helps.

  11. Thanks Lil! Well, we are expecting from 45-50 guests. I guess we could do the seat thing, or maybe have the seats added after I walk down the aisle? I don't know. But I did decide to have the wedding party stand inside the gazebo with me and that right there is 10 people....How frustrating, maybe Deyanira will have a good suggestion....but if anything else comes into mind for "suggestions" from the brides, I will gladly accept them!  =)

  12. Thanks Lil for the update on how your wedding went! Congrats on your wedding too. It sounds identical to mine that I am planning! I am getting marie din the gazebo, but am very concerned that the aisle won't be wide enough for both my parents to walk me down.....so I'm trying to figure out what to do about that. Also, I too am concerned about the pillars being in peoples way to see us!

After that, we will be heading to the himitsu terrace for the cocktail hour, thanks on the advice to upgrade, I think we are going to do the same. We also hired Michael Weiler for our photographer, i had only heard rave reviews on him! SO very excited to hear more good stories! We also hired DJ Mannia as they too got rave reviews, I'm glad it went well with them, I will make sure about the time though since we are also going to have a reception from 7-11, so I want to make sure he plays for that long and not before as we will be using the trio band for the cocktail hour.

I can't wait to see the photos from your wedding! It would be great to see how everything was set up since I have only seen the terrace empty or with only the tables set up, but never the full set up with DJ, and guests and bar!

Congrats again and thanks for easing my mind with your great experience!
