Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?
tris replied to kerrij's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Maybe they've changed it recently?? Or maybe she's already promised it to someone else and she's just trying to let me down easy, haha. Either way, she's knows that's what I want, so we'll see what happens. I still find it so strange how so many of us are getting different answers to everything. -

That's so strange that Chandlyn said "yes" to you choosing the grill restaurant and your wedding isn't until November. We're getting married in a month and we when we requested the Italian a month ago in our email she said "restaurants can only be confirmed a few weeks before your wedding". -

We'll probably head down to the beach party that night so maybe I'll see you there and get to congratulate they new Mrs ;) Our wedding is the 28th (thursday) @ 6:00PM. I really hope there aren't 3 weddings my day. -
Wow, good day for the wedding today and I didn't even plan for it! First, my ring came in!! It's so pretty and fits so well with my E-ring it's awesome. I actually wore it home from the store. Shhh!! Second, our submersible LED lights came in! These were such a pain in the ass to find (especially ones that shipped to CND). Thanks to the FI for actually calling a place and getting us a good deal on shipping. Third, I'm working on our guest book today, and all my other artsy design stuff. I want it printed and out of the way already! I get so much done when FI isn't here, haha. As for stress, my kitty has been quite the sweet little gentleman lately... I love how animals know when you're upset. Couldn't live without him ( to my Zephyr)

White Oleander is one of my favorites. It's written so beautifully and the story really pulls your heart strings.

Erin - That's completely alright. I'd love to see how they turn out C&J - The linen was $12 a roll (but I used 40% off gift certs at Michaels, so they were less). I fit 8 per sheet. So let's say after tax about $1.50 a piece for the fabric. The printing was cheap for me because of connections with my job, so I got it all at cost (around .50 per invite). The teal cardstock was $1 a sheet, and I used 2 for each. The white cardstock to build the base, let's say .10 per (I bought huge sheets and made a bunch off of each). Ribon, twine, etc, maybe .50 per invite? In the end I worked it out and I made them for about $5 a piece. But that's with tons of deal hunting . I do freelance design on the sign and if I made these for anyone I would charge about $10 per invite because of the amount of work involved. Hope that helps.

Haha, I love you, I'm totally the same way. I saw the spacing and was starting to freak out!
-
oooh, I forgot to mention!! As of today, Mar.18, FI & I have been dating 9 years! Holy eff.
-
I've started mine, but I've still got a long ways to go with it. I guess I've got almost a month on you though! Haha. I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been more planning threads lately!

Wine was had last night! Haha. My sister came over and we drowned my sorrows. Thank goodness I can still drive the car for now even though it looks completely ridiculous. Thanks everyone *hugs*. I don't know what I'm going to do without all my April ladies!! It looks like I'm the last one to get married here.
-
I got in a "car accident" today (basically I backed into a hydro pole that was in the middle of someones freaking drive way)... FI is in Calgary (like 12 hours away) all weekend, so I have no transportation and my weekend is going to filled with dealing with this... really I didn't need this right now. UGHHHH!!! Not to mention I started my freaking period a week early and work is miserable... So my wedding checklist for the weekend is as follows: -not freak out

Everything's looking awesome Brandy! Nice and organized too. I love it. Have a great wedding, beautiful. I can't wait to hear about how amazing it is when you get back. -Your fellow APRIL bride, Trista

Good Call Meggers! Here is mine, the next girl copy/paste it into a comment and add yours in order of your wedding (I think that's the easiest way to do this). Tris (Trista) Wedding: April 28 Leaves: April 23 Gran Bahia Principe, Runaway Bay Jamaica

Miss Brandy!! I see your planning thread is getting posted right now! EEEP!!! I don't want to comment until you're done though. I'm an organization freak and it would bother me to no end if someone posted a reply in the middle of mine! Haha!

Do it do it do it!! (BD) It's so much fun (not to mention FI will love it)

Every AI resort I've been to required long pants & shoes for men. When I joined this forum I noticed sooo many of the grooms & GM wore sandals and I never understood how they got away with it. That's why from the beginning I planned on white dress shoes for the boys. greys - My FI has a $100 ring. It's Tungestan (sp??). I thought it was kind of funny too how my rings together are like $1500 and his is only $100, but if he likes it and it's good for our budget... haha! So our rings don't match at all. His is black & silver. I think it's fine though. My opinions on the bachelor yesterday.. the after the rose episode just seemed, well, forced... and uncomfortable... I don't think Emily's happy with him and I think she's just trying to convince herself that she is. I totally understand her not wanting to move. Her daughters grandparents are there. I totally understand him not wanting to move, because of his business. I loved them together but I don't see it working... I don't know! It was just, like I said, kind of uncomfortable to watch... like they'd just had a huge fight and then were forced to speak in public about it.

Finally heard back from my friend (supposed 3rd bridesmaid). Yah, so "it's a no". It's sweet to let your best friend know that you're not coming to her wedding with a "We only have 5000 between us so it's a no". After a long talk with my mom & another friend I'm over it. Anyone wanna buy a dress? Haha. It's not a convential BM dress by any means. It's gorgeous and I'd totally keep it if it wasn't 2 sizes too big on me (and I wouldn't match my 2 BM's haha). The pic doesn't do it justice. It's teal, about knee length, gorgeous beading around the keyhole neckline and all the way on the straps to the back. It's from Le Chateau, size Large. I'm a dress size 2/4 and I usually wear an XS there, sometimes a S... my friend who is (I think) about an 8 has a large and it fits her perfect. It's reg $169.99, I paid $89.99... tags still on, brand new, never been worn. .

Brandy - I'm glad your shower went well this weekend ! Mine is in 2 weeks and I'm pretty excited. I just found out that my BM won't be able to make it though because she won her curling league and is now in provincials. My mom & grandma are throwing it for me and they live out of the city, so the shower is out of town. Because of that my friends won't be coming. So it will be my MOH (my sister) and my mom & grandma's friends... hmmmm... it should still be alright though, just an older crowd, haha. Forever 21 opened here this weekend so I was able to get a few skirts for the trip. It was way too crazy for my liking though. Over an hour wait for a change room. Crazy crazy. Wanna hear my cute story of the weekend? FI & I went out on a date Saturday. Next week is our "9 years dating anniversary" so we thought we should probably celebrate it as it's our last before the wedding. We went to this cute little French restaurant that we've been wanting to try for months now. The only offer 5 and 7 course surprise dinners. No menu. The food was fantastic, there was only 1 course we really didn't care for (but to each his own). The cute part was when she brought by our bill she told us about their little rewards program they do. They keep everyone of their customers names in a guest book and they gave us 10 $10 off coupons and asked us to write our name on the back and give them out to friends and family. For everyone that gets used they put a star by our name. When we have 10 we get a free meal ! Kind of neat idea that works well for them since it's a husband and wife team, that's it. So FI is flipping through the book and I said casually "We're 'L'" (the first letter of his last name). He kind of chuckled and I said "You see what I did there eh?". He flipped to "L" and wrote "Kai and Trista L__________" and said to me "You see what I did there?". Aw. <3

Don't worry, none of us think you're awful or ungrateful. This is a super stressful time and we all react differently than we normally would, haha. It's really hard to look at the big picture when there are SOOO many things involved with planning a wedding. I've gotten screwed with so many things in regards to my wedding so far that I'm just laughing them off and reminding myself what's really important. Good luck planning your big day
-
I don't want to give you bad news, but I agree with your parents... Most of us brides are paying for our whole weddings out of our own pockets, and I know it stinks that you're not getting as much as your sisters, you'll have your parents at your wedding which is much more important than money, in my opinion at least.

Agreed. I'm in the same situation Every time I come to this thread now I get more and more irritated that I'm paying double the money for the same thing. haha. -
Yay for weekend lists: - Attempt to finish up all my design work for the wedding - welcome magazine, playing cards, programs, etc. (wish me luck) - Work with FI on the music (he's a DJ so he's doing awesome on his own, but I need to check up on him, hehe) - Get gifts for my hostesses for the shower (in 2 weeks) - GO SHOPPING FOR BEACHY CLOTHES!! Yay On another note, the price of our vaca went down substantially (like by more than $500) so I think we may have some last minute bookers. Awesome I also have all my flowers decided on. We were originally going to go with the free bouquet that came with the package, but I really didn't like it, nor did it suit my colors. So instead we're doing full on white hydrangea's. They're so pretty and inexpensive. I really wanted peonies, but they're so pricey. So all the flowers are around $350 (my bouquet, bouts for groom, 2 GM, 2 dads, 1 gramps, 2 BM bouquets, 4 corsages for moms & grandmas). I think that's pretty good hey? I was asking around work "What are flowers supposed to cost?" - I literally had no idea, and everyone here told me that was a really good deal.
