Trash the dress shoot: Advice needed
tris replied to dgakapluto's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hey! It all depends what kind of shots you're looking for. We have an awesome photographer who has literally planned an entire day for us. We're leaving at 10am and not getting back until supper. She wanted it to go later so we could get sunset pics -

lmaire - We originally had booked May.3rd, then we found that flights were significantly more expensive that week and if we went 1 week earlier we'd save a lot of money for us and our guests. So we changed our day to April 28th @ 4:00pm. Everything was confirmed with Beverly, the trips were all booked, and then I get an email from my TA saying "are you sure this is your wedding day? I spoke to Beverly and it's already booked". So I freak out, email Beverly immediately and I get a reply a few days later saying "Please find that the day has been double booked by my assistant (Chandlyn) and the other couple has already paid their deposit, we are able to switch your wedding over to 1:00pm. I replied that I didn't want 1:00pm (I'm seriously not a morning person and I was looking forward to having the day to relax & get ready). I also sent her the email where she confirmed our day. I quickly got a reply saying that because of the situation the minister agreed to stay later and we could do our wedding at 6:00 (sunset) that day. So, this is why I was so adament about everyone paying their deposit. We kept asking but they kept saying "it's okay, you don't need to pay it yet". After all of this happened we sent them CC info whether they wanted it or not we were paying our deposit. Kind of sucky that there MAY be 3 weddings my wedding day because of it, but I got the restaurant I wanted and in the end sunset will be better than 4:00. -
Meg - Praying for your step-dad. This is an awful time for something like this to happen, well, anytime would, but I really hope he can be there for your wedding! Brandy - I love how you're waiting to board your plane and still giving us updates ! Have a great time pretty lady!! I FINALLY got my mixbook in the mail. Apparently they take forever to ship (almost a month, seriously). Thank goodness that nudey pictures of me aren't floating around in the world, though!

Felt it right to share the responses I've gotten from her as well.. maybe they'll help someone... WHY WILL THEY NOT SEND ANYONE OF US A LIST OF THE STEEL DRUM BAND SONGS?!?! I've heard through the grapevine that Beverly is no longer with GBP and you're taking over as the new wedding planner. I just wanted to confirm that everything is still standing for our wedding. Everything is still as planned with her I sent scans of our long form birth certificates a few weeks back and I want to confirm that those were received. We have received, thanks. There were also a few notes on our file regarding aspects of our wedding. Including: - a preference for the Italian restaurant for our dinner (we understand that this will be decided a few weeks prior and we will be notified)We will confirm at a later date - a sweetheart table (just the 2 of us) for our dinner This can be arranged. - dinner at 7:30 We will arrange - we are bringing our own photographer and do not require the resort photographer, Beverly discussed with us that because of this we would be given some perks on other aspects depending on our wedding package This can be confirmed when you get here. - we choose the middle package (blissful love it's called if I'm not mistaken, correct me if I'm wrong, it was $1100) This is for US1350.00 - we are getting married at the gazebo, our wedding colours for decoration are turquoise/aqua, light brown (we are okay with white decor as well) Thanks for the information - we have the steel drum band booked for our ceremony Confirmed Thanks so much! There's probably something I forgot, I just wanted to send this off and make sure everything is still alright. I know we had some trouble earlier with our time being double booked (originally at 4:00), so I'm overly cautious of everything now it seems We will do our best to ensure that all goes well. And then this is the 2nd email I got back from her: Firstly, you mentioned that the restaurant would be chosen closer to my wedding day. I'm wondering if when we know what restaurant, whether our preferred choice the Italian, or another restaurant, you would be able to send me the menu? Please see attached menus. I have requested the Dolce vita for your wedding dinner I'm having everything printed and brought with us so if I could have the menu information that would be wonderful. Secondly, I don't know if you have this on file, but my grandfather who is attending the wedding and very dear to my heart is in a wheelchair. I just want to confirm that everything will be accessible for him in regards to the wedding, the dinner, and his room. We were assured the hotel was handicap accessible upon booking The hotel is wheel chair accessible so your grandfather will be able to get around the hotel Thirdly, For the steel drum band, Beverly had mentioned giving me a CD or a song list of the songs they play so we could decide on what song would play when I walked down the aisle. Is this possible?I will obtain a list of songs from the band and get back to you. And lastly, we would like to bring a gift for you for your services. Is there anything from Canada that you would like? We've been told lotions, bath salts, etc, but I thought I'd ask.Lotion or perfume would ok,thanks -
Congrats Tenny!! <3

Char, I like the purple ones too.

OHH!! I forgot to say. Exactly ONE MONTH until my wedding day! It's crazy how time has been flying lately!

I feel your pain. It's so frustrating because I'm powerless. If I say anything I'M the selfish one because I'm not there for her when she needs me. So I just have to take a deep breath and let her eat up all my Mom's & families attention. I'm so glad that I'm marrying the most amazing guy in the world... thank God I have him there for me now.

My mom & grandma threw me my wedding shower this weekend !! It was actually a lot of fun and I got to see people I haven't seen in years. It was mostly their friends and some old friends of mine (as we were back in my home town), but it was awesome. I got spoiled rotten too. Not to mention my flaky friend who was supposed to be my BM (you all know the story) - well, her mom sent a HUGE basket of presents, including a $75 home depot gift card, a bunch of serving dishes, baskets, an electronic pepper grinder and a bunch of other stuff... along with a card saying how "Tiffany really wishes she was here with you right now, we both love you!" Almost started crying. Wow. Drama with my sister has escaladed though. Wow. Every time I try to give her advice I get the "you've never been through a break up before! You don't know!" Okay, great, I haven't, but I'm getting insanely frustrated how I'm getting married in less than a month and still everything is about you. UGGHH!!!!

Thanks <3 That was the only thing I didn't like about the dress. When they told me it was an easy alteration I was sold. Me buying a dress was the funniest thing. My sister & I walked in, she found it, I put it on, and I was ready to go. The salesgirl was getting me to put on all these other dresses and I just wasn't interested. I'm the kind of girl that when I know what I want and like, I stop looking! It would drive me INSANE trying on hundreds of dresses! Off to bed now! I'm off to my hometown tomorrow for my shower

The menus say that the Dolce Vita seats 180 and the Grill seats 210. You may consider renting out one of the restaurants with such a big group. It's $2500 but that's for the whole night. We were considering it, but for only 15 guests it didn't really make sense for our group. (I wanted to to be outside too, but in the end, I'm getting married outside, inside may be more comfortable to eat , being positive)
-
Hey! Welcome! Unfortunately no, they don't do any meal service or reception outdoors. You're completely restricted to one of the 2 restaurants. You can have your dinner at one of the restaurants and rent the gazebo for a dance afterwards though (a lot of brides on here have done that).
-
Yay countdowns. I'm on of the last, but what can you do My shower - 2 days! My stagette - 15 days! We move into our new house - 21 days! We leave for JAM - 29 days! We get married - 34 days!

I've heard a lot of good things about Jan's. I'm going through Tai Flora because, for what I wanted, it was extremely reasonable and they've been great. In the end I'm getting full white hydrangea bouquets wrapped in turquoise ribbon. It's under $400 for my bouquet, 2 BM bouquets, 5 bouts, 2 wrist corsages & 2 pin corsages. I'm curious if using another florist incurs a "vendor fee". I know a lot of resorts get people with this. -
Meg - sooo sexy! I love the one with you in FI's shirt
-
I'm in the same boat. I have a super common Mennonite last name. FI's last name is European and exotic, haha! It's going to be interesting how it goes over though because both of our Mom's have their maiden names. Hmmmm...

So pretty! I love it! -
I ordered my BD book from mixbox and I'm the same boat. It was sent on Mar.3rd and I have still haven't gotten it. I spoke to them about it and they said that if I didn't have it by the 30th they'd reprint it and ship it express for me. But still... 1/2 naked pics of me floating around... ehhh
-
I love these ones too! All of our flowers are white hydrangeas

Teira, your guestbook is really cute! It actually looks really similar to the one I'm making for myself, but I'm sewing mine all together and being very scrapbooky! haha. My shower's this weekend! Yay! I went back to Home Outfitters to add some more items. That was relaxing at least. Today sucks. I have a real feeling I'm going to rip someone's head off. Ugh...

In regards to the restaurant... I'm getting pretty irritated about this! I mean, you can't tell everyone something different! It's like they play favorites or something. People bailed for a variety of reasons. One friend bailed because of the price (this was after I paid his $200 deposit for him because he couldn't afford it.. so yah, I lost $200, fun). Then my sisters long term BF bailed because he dumped her 2 months ago. -

Omg our prices have dropped too! We all payed $1700 after tax and now it's down to $1200. Just depressing! I've emailed her again and made mention of "if she would like any gifts from Canada", so we will see if a little bribery works! Haha!! I just want to know which restaurant we'll be at so I can confirm my damn menu! I'll be the creeper behind a tree crying at your wedding! I'm so pathetic... when my mom, myself and my sister were in Cancun a few years back there was a wedding going on and I'm sitting in my lounger bawling. Complete strangers and I'm sobbing hysterically. I can't wait to see how I am at my OWN wedding! Haha! We have us + 15 right now (a LOT of people bailed on us).
