  1. Stupid computer! I've been trying to get on here for more than an hour. Lisadias I cannot believe your dress didn't come yet. That's crazy. Well they way I look at it, nothing we can do about the shipping side of things. Monica Bridal doesn't get their money until the package has been delivered so I'm sure they want us to get it quickly too Breeze your dress turned out so beautiful. You must be so excited. For us Monica Bridal girls it's like having a baby and not looking at a sonogram before hand. Okay maybe not so much but you get my meaning
  2. I'm glad I asked because I'd be fondling the curser button on the tracking site like a crazy woman. Okay so that puts me October 7 or 8 for ten days. Thanks lisadias.
  3. The "I do" on the bottom of those hot pink shoes is absolutely brilliant. You are one talented lady.
  4. I absolutely will post pics as soon as I get the dress. I also forgot to say that I chickened out last minute and asked them to do a corset back because I was so worried about exactly sizing with the zipper. It was a bit of a showdown with me and the tape measure. You know the stuff we girls do "am I sucking in too much?" and "wait a minute am I getting it over the fattest part of my ass?" I couldn't take it, so I switched to corset. Â I can't believe how fast they made it. I don't think it took the full two weeks. The sales rep I dealt with was an absolutle sweetheart. I changed my mind with 3 different dresses and then I saw this one in a magazine and went on the hunt to find the designer. Monica Bridal didn't have it in their store but added it for me. For those of you having this dress made, it cost me $140 and a veil as a gift. Â Ginger
  5. My dress from Monica Bridal was shipped today. Can't wait to see it. This is the one I ordered. Except I changed the neckline to a sweetheart. Crossing my fingers it turned out. Ginger Â
  6. Jamaicabride10 Â It's all done online. I sent them the pics of the dress i wanted made because it wasn't in their online store, then asked them to change it to a sweetheard neckline and then once I got a price back of 140 dollars I ordered it. It took a day or so but the lady I was dealing with put the dress in their online listing. She sent me the link, I clicked on it and then simply followed the instructions. It's like buying anything online. You give them your measurements and height etc and they make it to fit your body. The vendor I used is from China and they ship all over the world. Â The vendor is Monica Bridal - This vendor works under DHGate. They basically monitor all the vendors that are a member of their group. I actually paid for my dress via my checking account. You set up a paypal account, wait for it to be activated, takes a few minutes. Or you can use a credit card as well. What happens is the money does not go directly to the vendor. It sits in this "trust account" under DHGate, until you receive your dress. It is couriered to your door. Once you receive it, DH Gate is notified to release the funds to the vendor. It's all very safe and quite efficient. I was a little apprehensive at first but I have had no issues. Only thing is when you pay using a checking account it can take a week for DHGate to recieve the money as it's going from one country to another. Mine took a week for sure but then the vendor is notified that the money is in the DH Gate account they start working on your dress. Takes only a few weeks. Two for mine. Mine will be shipped next week. Sounds like a lot of work but it's really not. Â If you want more info pm me and I'll get you everything you need or simply do an internet search for Monica Bridal. I'm betting it will take you right into the DH Gate realm. Â G
  7. Yes I know. I stayed in Playa last year and that is where my wedding will be but I'm staying in Cancun for Xmas this year and thought there may be a few decent clubs around for a mature crowd. I guess I'll just have to wing it. Thanks for the input though. Â G
  8. I'm heading to Mexico over Christmas for a ten day vacation and wedding inspection. I have been to Cancun before and did a few bars ie Coco Bongos and a few like it. Can someone please tell me if there are any clubs in the hotel zone that are not all 20 somethings blitzed out of their mind? No wet t shirt contests, or best bikini contest, or mud wrestling or anything like that. I'm not prude but I have no desire to do that scene again. I'd love to be able to go somewhere have some drinks, dance the night away and not have to deal with that craziness. We love all kinds of music. Help please. Â Thanks a bunch Ginger
  9. jamiacabride 10, Â I guess there are differing opinions on the knock off route. I'm in a situation where I have my wedding dress but wanted a second one without the hefty price tag that comes along with "original designer dresses". I think depending on which vendor you use, you can have a great experience and get the dress almost exactly the same. If you are careful in your selection of vendors, they will tell you how close they can come to the original. For me, they can come to 95%. For $140 dollars, 95% was good enough. For whatever reason, some girls are very much against the Knockoff Route. I personally have no issues whatsoever. I suggested it as an alternative to having the very expensive original. Not as your first dress but as a second. I think you should do your research and make your own decision. If you need any help with suggestions on vendors, I'd be happy to help you. There is a massive thread on this forum on knockoff dresses but it's pretty huge to navigate through. One of the other ladies on that thread was very gracious to help me. Â Good luck and do not toruture yourself over your dress. The one you purchased is absolutely stunning.
  10. Both dresses are gorgeous. Here's a suggestion: you already have one dress bought. Have you considered having a knockoff made of your dream dress? You get to pick the fabric they make it out of and therefore could choose a lighter weight fabric as that was one of your issues and it would probably cost you $200 or less. You've already tried your dream dress on so you know you love it. If it doesn't turn out to be everything you want, you can always use it for Trash the dress photos. Just a thought.  Ginger  ps those dresses are very similar in style and I happen to think the one you bought is gorgeous.
  11. I'm travelling to Mexico for ten days at Christmas staying at the Gran Caribe Real Resort. I'm not any more concerned travelling this year than I was last year and the year before that. Each year I went to Mexico. I think we must use common sense as another poster said. Take every precaution. I live in one of the Atlantic Provinces - Canada and four hours away there is craziness going on with gang fights and attacks. Doesn't mean I"m not travelling to Halifax this weekend to shop. It's in our backyards all over the world. Â G
  12. Well here's my schedule of events at Gran Porto: My ceremony is at 4pm in the gazebo. It's a civil service so I'm hearing 30 minutes. We're going straight to signing whatever it is we must sign and them pictures. I'm buying the 500 dollar package which buys me the photographer at the resort for 1 hr and I think I get 40 pictures printed 4*6 and 40 on cd or thumbdrive and a photo album. We're doing dinner a semi - private reception at 6pm in one of their restaurants and then I booked a cocktail hour at 8pm back in the gazebo. I've set it up so we have our cake and our champagne toast at 8 which is part of the cocktail hour and as my fiance is a sound engineer, we're bringing our own music. They are allowing us to use the sound system in the gazebo for our cocktail hour. We'll have our first dance there, cut the cake and mingle. Have a few drinks and a few dances. They are allowing me full use of the gazebo until 10pm. Works for me. If we feel like dancin' some more we'll go to the onsite disco. Make our own party. I had booked the "romance package" but on second look the "classic package" works better. For another 100 dollars we get the semi-private reception and I'll pay the 10 dollars a person to have the private cocktail (mini-dance if you ask me- this is what we call a reception at home). Wedding done, lovely and will not cost me a fortune and I won't feel like I missed out on anything. Â G
  13. Beca  You are absolutely correct. That is exactly what I'll be doing. Makes no sense to book an all inclusive hotel and then pay for a dinner and drinks when we've all paid for exactly that. Hence why they call it all inclusive! My wedding guests will amount to no more than ten. We'll be doing a couple of dinners together I'm sure. We've travelled together before and resorts accommodated us without issue. It's a money grab because it's a wedding and I refuse to get caught up in it. I'm not going to be charged 300 dollars for something I've already paid for. I'm already paying to have my wedding there. I booked a wedding package and my vacation package. End of story.  G
  14. Well that's just ridiculous to charge money to have a rehearsal. I had no idea they charged for it. I'm not that far along in my planning as my wedding isnt' till November 2011. I would think rehearsing would be part of the package. It takes what 15 minutes to run through it so people arent fumbling about during the ceremony? They only do three weddings a day at this resort. They should have quickie rehearsals in the evening. I absolutely refuse to pay 300 dollars. Everything is a money grab. Well I guess I'll be watching a wedding or two from a distance to see how it all goes down and asking lots of questions of my wedding coordinator. Â
  15. OOOOOOOOOH my all of those shoes are fabulous! Thanks for all the ideas. Â G
  16. Had an email from Monica Bridal this morning regarding my request to send photos of my dress prior to shipping. Not going to happen. The lady that I've been dealing with is not in the same location as the dress factory. She simply said that she wasn't close enough to go over and take a photo. Oh well, crossing fingers and hoping for the best based on others experience with them. G
  17. missgomes  They have started work on mine. I have asked her to take some photos prior to shipping . I'm waiting for an answer as I just sent it this morning. I think this makes good business sense and she seems very accommodating. I believe she has a return policy but I'd rather make any changes I see prior to it leaving China. As soon as she responds I'll post.  G
  18. Marzm  Your dress is absolutely stunning. I think the few little things you have asked them to do will put it over the top. So happy for you that it turned out.  G
  19. Don't know if it's just me or not but when I click on the photos, it says I do not have permission. I'm new around here too and not sure how all the picture stuff works. Â G
