  1. Two weddings in two different climates and two different themes, well what was I supposed to do but order another dress. At these prices, why not. I'll never miss an opportunity to play dress up and using different costumes and hair and bling. OH MY! hehehe. Its just so much fun and when are we ever going to be afforded this opportunity again?
  2. Bonnie, I think it's great that you and your best friend can me so honest. I absolutely cannot be that way with my best friend. When she asks my opinion on her fashione sense, erm Okay her lack there of, and if I dare go against her, she pitches a fit. So I've learned over the years to just shake my head like a diligent boyfriend and say "yes dear, you look lovely dear" when I really want to say "you look like you should be swingin' from a stripper pole". hmmm the irony is, she is brutally honest with me and my Princessisms. I recognize that about myself, and can laugh about it. Sure doesn't go both ways though. Ah well, I still love her though. G
  3. Bonnie, The train is beautiful as well. I cannot get over the detail in the embroidery. Absolutely stunning.
  4. Bonnie, This is a perfect example of a very smart dress choice by a plus size girl. The dress is absolutely gorgeous on your bf. If you didn't say her size, I would not have guessed it. Very very flattering. The craftsmanship and detailing on this dress is amazing. Is this Monica Bridal?
  5. Well I'm in the process of finalizing the details of a new dress that I'm having Monica Bridal make for me It turns out that I'm having a wedding in Canada days before we go to Mexico for our beach wedding. So what's a girl to do but order another dress. We're having a "vintage style" wedding so I went back to the original dress that I was going to have Monica Bridal make. It's a Tara Keely vintage style dress. I'm ordering it in Antique Rum Pink. Satin of course. Adding some beading and details to the train. I have my Pronovias that I plan to wear in Mexico so that leaves my ruffled dress out in the cold It was too big for me. I hate to set her free but I've decided to sell it. Prettypig - your barbie pink reception dress is gorgeous. In fact I asked the rep to use the same satin fabric she used in your dress to make mine but in the rum pink color. G
  6. Prettypigpig, I'm pretty sure my fiance would not want to see me in that walking down any aisle...I was thinking bigger as in cover my legs. hehehehe 140 bux for an organza ruffled dress at a bridal store, prolly doesn't exist. Just sayin'!
  7. Prettypigpig, My employer doesn't even have the decency to block the sites. They dangle them in front of you as if to say "ah ah, not lookie for you". I think our Directors must not be busy enough. We're not even permitted at lunchtime. Big ol bunch of sourpusses if you ask me. Makes me quite testie and work when I can't take a mind break and check out this page.
  8. My office has installed spyware for the directors so they now get reports on all our internet activities. Big meanies!

  10. What does your shop have in bridal dresses in the $140 dollar range, say in organza with lotsa ruffles?
  11. I'd like to put my two cents worth up here too. I ordered my knock off from Monica Bridal as well and it did come two large. Same thing corset enclosure was completely closed and I still have too much room and it's a bit too long. However, I think I was part of the problem. When I ordered my dress I ordered it with a zipper and added 3/4 to my overall measurements, thinking I wanted to room just in case. Last minute I switched to corset enclosure but did not reduce my measurements. I should have given my true measurements at this point. The other issue is that I've been working out harder and have lost a couple pounds during the 4-5 weeks from the time I ordered my dress until I received it. I don't think we should be measuring ourselves. I agree with PrettyPig, how I could ever go back and ask for a 50% discount on an already bargain basement price is beyond me. I could not and would not. Especially since I could take it and sell it for at least what i paid or more. The cost of the fabric alone in Canada would be at least 140 dollars. That's just morally wrong in my view but hey that's just me. Ginger
  12. Cookie maybe if you're still not sure what you want to do with the bottom of the dress, you should keep going to bridal shops to try on. If you know the top is exactly what you want but your not sure what you like on the bottom, go back to the drawing board and try on dresses looking at the bottom half only. Once you've decided, on a bottom, "picture it" and "photoshop" and a few other programs will let you cut and paste together different elements of dresses on your computer so you can see what the finished product will look like. Something else I did was found dresses I liked in magazines and I cut them out. Cut the bottoms of some and the tops of others, added flowers and took them away. Once I got it right, took it to work to the lovely color photocopier and copied it and in some cases blew it up to make the photo bigger. As far as what the guys like, I got the same type of guy prettypig has I guess. Although my fiance would love me know matter what I wear, he would not love a big ol pouffed up dress on me. That is the only thing he expressed when I went dress shopping. "Please buy something that shows off your curves" were his exact words. That's it that's all. Now granted if I were to show up on the day with a big ol cindarella ball gown, he'd still love me to death. He'd probably never ever tell me he didn't like the dress. I look at it like this...I want to know what he wants to see me in. It's our day, equally his and mine. If I were to send him out shopping by himself for his wedding attire, I'm sure there may be a chance that I may not like one or more items he's chosen. Maybe a color, cut or fit, or some accessory. He'd want to know, if I didn't like something he was wearing, which is why I will be guiding him through the process. Although men have a tendancy to be open to that sort of guidance where fashion is concerned We have to look at those pictures forever. I want him to love me and my wedding dress. That's just my two cents worth. G
  13. Your dress fits you absolutely perfectly! It is beautiful. I spoke to the Monica Bridal rep last night and she assured me that they are being very careful with sizing on a go forward basis. I wouldnt' expect any designer dress I order to fit me absolutely perfect either. Mine seems to be easy to make alterations to so I'm not the least bit concerned. In fact I'm glad that the ruffles start lower on the body than the original. Adds some nice drama for pics.
  14. Good girl! Me too. The pressure of going to Mexico for Christmas this year and wearing a bikini during a time I call my "earned fat season" got to me. So I threw an extra set of pushups, dips and presses. That's too funny. Also, someone asked about tafetta. I believe that's what is under the organza on my dress. It's pretty heavy. In fact, I said to prettypig earlier today that I really could have went with a lighter weight up top. Bottom exactly the same but the top could have been a silky-satin. However, I will keep what I have as I love it and pull it in where I need.
  15. Keep in mind that you will lose serious muscle mass doing these flushes and cleanses. They are not healthy. Your scale weight may go down but you will not be losing much in the line of fat. Water, and hard earned and very hard to build muscle. Now I'm going to zip it. Camlovesja - that is great work. Keep it up and you'll be down that weight before you know it. That's the way to do it. Slow and steady wins the race every time. G
  16. hahaha - For those of you who may or may not have been on the diet thread - I forget what it was entitled in the subject line, Flush before the wedding or something like that, you can now see that I do practice what I preach with the working out. Thanks for the compliment. Ginger
  17. Thanks ladies. I am really very pleased with my knock off experience. I'd highly recommend it to anyone considering. The only thing I will caution you on is to do your homework. I felt comfortable using Monica Bridal after seeing prettypig's dress. I figured with all the detailing on hers, they would do a fab job on mine and they did. The little too long and a little too big, that's nothing. Easy fix.
  18. These are a few close ups of the fabric and detailing. I bought off the rack sample for 699 - it was discontinued and barely tried on. I didn't have someone take a picture of the back but it is absolutely amazing. Lots of details.
  19. okay so for my second time at uploading...wow this site is jammed up. Anyway as you can see the dress is a little big on me and a lot long. My best friend is a seamstress so we have decided to take off the entire bottom ruffle as well as pull it in on the side seams. The corset is pretty much pulled as tight as possible and i'm still a little loose. No biggie though. Absolutely no other issues with the dress. It will make a great reception dress shortened, tightened and with a pair of hot shoes. G
  20. Okay so here's mine. Got to my mom's and we laced it up but seems to be a bit big but that's okay. Nothing that my very best friend the seamstress cannot fix for me. It's also way too long. Keep in mind I'm in bare feet and will be wearing 4 inch shoes. However, that being said, I think I'm going to have her remove the entire bottom ruffle. Each one is separate, so again no problems. The dress has no flaws. None. Like I said I'm more than pleased with it. This will be my reception dress, so a few inches in on the side and a few inches shorter and I will be good to go. Thoughts? hope this works okay with the pics.
