  1. I wasn't too disappointed in Tammy's bride's review. I know it was unfortunate for her, but they're simple things we can learn from. Now we know to make sure (before the wedding) that at least a couple guests know where the cocktail hour is. Then we dont have to count on the WC. Also, I dont think I'd forget about my cake. I want to have the traditional cake cutting so I'll make sure it gets served to the guests! Thank goodness for reviews so we know what to expect!! Also, in a few months (10 months for me) I'm sure all the little kinks will be worked out.
  2. Hi everyone! I am a May 6, 2011 bride, getting married at Now Jade Riviera Cancun. I thought I was on top of things by getting the resort booked but after reading this thread I see I'm way behind! I can't believe some of you have your dress and have even written the ceremony already.
  3. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong but I can't find any wedding reviews on NH Riviera Cancun or on Now Jade. Has anyone seen any reviews posted on the forum?
  4. I'm a May 6, 2011 bride at Now Jade!!! Tracy I'd love all the info. I'll email you.
  5. jawhite, was your wedding at sapphire or jade? I can't wait to read your review!

I will be MORE than happy to share what I have just shoot me a PM. Oh yay, I think NOW Jade might be our choice too. I really love everything I've seen on the website. Nothing official yet but I'm hoping for May 2011. I am assuming Pilar is the WC? So far I've just been dealing with our TA. I'll PM you with some questions.

  8. Thanks ktchi, that does help. I'll check that out. I can't even find a website for them...just reading reviews on tripadvisor and expedia. Im relying on my TA to hopefully provide the info I need.

But, hey, every place is going to have some complaints. The main reason I chose it was because it is a good value for the guests, the place has a modern decor and appears to have been recently updated, and the venues for the wedding ceremony and reception look great. I have been working with Jill from Sand and Sun Vacations, whom I found here, and she has been great. I can't wait to hear what you guys think after your site visits. I think we'll be making one in August. -Michelle I just found Now in my research this week and i loved how affordable it seems for all the amenities it seems to have. I am working with Jill too, and we were also looking for a late april/early may 2011 wedding. Keep me updated when you start finding out more about the wedding packages at the Now.
  10. Thank you for all the advice! As a newbie this helps so much. I've been reading this all day (dont tell my boss) and got some great ideas.
  11. amester I'm in the same boat as you. Ive just been reading all the posts on this forum for the last two weeks trying to find a good resort but Im just as overwhelmed as ever. We were hoping for april 2011 but its seems as if most brides already have dates booked for april! I think it depends on when you're getting married as for when you should book. For weddings in the fall you dont have to do it as early, but for Mar-June we need to get moving! I just booked TA Jill to help because I dont know if I could do it on my own.
  12. Thanks everyone for your feedback! It is greatly appreciated and very helpful. I understand the time of year and resort makes a difference on what they are willing to negotiate, but to have a reference point from different resorts definitely helps! I look forward to hearing from more of you!

  14. Hey all, I'm a little confused about a few things as far as "group rates" or "nights booked". I've read different things from different people about the same resorts and obviously different different things about different resorts. So, I have a few questions to ask the Riviera Maya group.... Did your resort offer you a discount based on a group rate or total # of nights booked? How many rooms? How many nights booked? Is it fair to assume that if you bring 40 guests that stay a minimum of 3 nights, they will work with you on upgrades/discounts/perks? What did they offer you? Upgraded room, free room, wedding or reception discounts? If you used a TA, did they work a "special" deal for you or is it something you could work out yourself? Does anyone have any suggestions about their packages or resorts that seem to be willing to negotiate? For instance, trading the cocktail hour (b/c the tiki/pool/lounge bar is 25yds away for free) in place of _____________ fill in the blank? Thank you so much in advance for all of your input!!
  15. Am I the only male on here? I'm Shane from Denver, CO by the way... We're undecided about our destination so far. The good reviewed resorts seem to be out of our guests' price range so we're trying to sift thru the mixed reviews of the more cost effective resorts. Looking at a date between late April and early May 2011. We should have a decent sized group of 40-50 with plenty of guests who like to party! Not looking for a spring break drunkfest type of resort (we're mostly all 5-7 years out of college besides the older family members), but something with plenty to do (fun bars, golf, casino, volleyball, water-skiing, etc) and where our guests always have a cold drink in their hand if they choose. Nice beach for activities and lounging along with a nice spot for the ceremony. Basically we just want to have a 3-4 day party with our fam and friends ending with a beautiful beach wedding and nice dinner reception followed by plenty of drinking and dancing. Oh, and all for a reasonable price! So if anyone has any experiences or ideas please let me know!! Good luck to everyone with their planning!
