I know people aren't made of money
lesley_mexico_bride replied to soontobemrsdow's topic in Just venting or funnies
Wow, I feel the same as you. Tomorrow is 2 months from the wedding, and I have had so much drama in the past 2 weeks. My matron of honor (ex) and a groomsman are having a disgusting affair after once confiding in me and telling me she would call it off with him and get counseling with her husband she showed up to his house (where the party was at) in front of friends after she promised she wouldn't and has been sneaking in gross. This is also after she made comments about my hips while trying on my wedding dress. I yelled at them at a party (right after my bridal shower that day) and outted their dirty secret and we are not speaking. 2 days later my fiance told me that the matron of honor told him (before the fight happened) that my most loyal friend and bridesmaid (I thought) was not coming to the wedding because she is 2 months pregnant because of the water. She was also complaining before that to other people that we are all going to die there. I really did not want to hear it from the ex-matron either ugh. 3 people in the wedding party already out in 2 days. Luckily we have enough in our wedding party who are AWESOME but it still sucks. I am very close to ex-MOH's family and I am waiting to hear from her mom to ask why ex-MOH was kicked out of the wedding.....if she tells her soon I hope (I am not going to tell her mom that she is carrying on with this affair), and also how that affects her family going or not. On top of that, there is complaining about the price and how we are all going to die and how we shouldn't leave the resort or have a bacherlorette down there. One of my friends told me that you will find out who your real friends are with your wedding. Funny how it's my lifelong or HS friends that cant have any event that is not about themselves and the friends that I have chosen in my adult life are the ones that are genuinely excited and supportive. These next two months are supposed to be the happiest of our lives and I don't want to be drawn into this immature drama. UGH sorry but I needed to vent!!! -
Hello Ladies! It's coming up, just less than 3 months away! I have still yet to go try on my wedding dress, it is at Weddings by Debbie but we are going on Tuesday......does anyone have any recommendations for alterations? I also have no idea about how much these things cost...thanks!

I have registered using honeyfund.com. I started a registry a while ago on theknot360 but its just not my thing. I have never been the type of girl to obsess over kitchen appliances, I prefer experiences. I already have two sets of dishware, my parents and my great grandmothers. My fiance and I live together in a small one bedroom apartment. We have no plans to move into a house until at least 6 months to a year after the wedding (hopefully!). We are also paying for the wedding ourselves....basically we will need money after the wedding and have no room to store stuff that we might use in a bigger house. I know we could upgrade a few things, but I don't want to register for stuff like that, I like finding that kind of stuff on a whim on my own. We have made it be known that traveling to Mexico would be the ultimate gift from a guest, but of course people want to give gifts. I don't get how people think its slightly tacky but proper to ask for 2000 dollar mattress but not cash (in a much smaller amount). I mean, we know how much you spent on us when you buy the toaster that we registered for right? Whenever my dad sends a birthday card, he says my gift is inside in my favorite color: green. I don't think its tacky, I think thats awesome, just what I really wanted and needed!! We registered for romantic dinners, excursions, a furniture fund, and even charities in Puerto Vallarta to donate to, so we did not specifically ask for money only I also made it so if something cost say 100 dollars I would request ten $10.00 contributions that could be divided up among people. Anyway, my MOH and bridesmaids are throwing me a bridal shower soon. Has anyone had a bridal shower using a honeyfund registry? Any fun creative ideas on how to do this? What if people just brought cards that said what they purchased like, "I hope you all enjoy a romantic beach dinner on us". or am I just totally crazy?

What I would and wouldnt do again
lesley_mexico_bride replied to northernflasher's topic in Blog Archive
Thanks for the great advice,....did you give those journals to your families as gifts? They look really sweet and it would be something my dad would love as he will not let go of any photograph and loves family tree stuff. Did you give a "Dear Daughter" one back to them? -

PV Restaurants
lesley_mexico_bride replied to adeybaby's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Hello all! I got some advice on restaurants in the area. My dad lives in Guadalajara and his wife's family has a vacation home just north of PV so they have spent a little time there. They have a friend that is supposedly a "restaurant guru" in the area. I sent them a list of restaurants that looked interesting for our rehearsal dinner. He then replied with his recommendations from the list, here is the list I sent: 1. Agave Grill (Contact is Bill Carballo, <[email protected]>) 2. La Palapa (we ate here together) http://www.lapalapapv.com/site/ 3. Epoca http://www.epoca-pv.com/ 4. Cafe Des Artistes http://www.cafedesartistes.com/ 5. El Arrayan http://www.elarrayan.com.mx/ 6. El Palomar http://restauranteelpalomarpv.com/index.html 7. Banana Cantina http://bananacantina.com/main/ 8. La Leche http://www.lalecherestaurant.com/#/ 9. Trio http://www.triopv.com/ 10. The River Cafe http://www.rivercafe.com.mx/index.html 11. Metiza http://www.mestizovallarta.com/index.shtml 12. Amapa Sunset http://www.amapasunset.com/index.php 13. Casa Naranjo http://www.casa-naranjo.com/ 14. Blanca Blue http://www.blancablue.com/ The reply was in Spanish, but my dad provided a rough translation: "He thinks the best two restaurants on the list are numbers 2 & 4. They are also the most expensive. #2--La Palapa--as you no doubt recall--is practically on the beach. #4--Cafe des Artistes--is set high above the center of town on a mountain--and has probably the best decoration of any. He thinks numbers 8, 9, & 10 are pretty good. He is a personal friend of the owners of #8--La Leche--and perhaps he could help us approach them. Their restaurant serves seafood, and is located near the Hotel Zone on the north side of PV..a little south of the Westin. It's fairly new. #9--or Trio--is a French restaurant near the center of town. Might be a little small. #10--River Cafe--it serves "international food" and is actually located on a small island in the Rio Cuale a little closer to town than the beach you swam at--so the setting is nice. I think we saw this restaurant and liked it's location when the three of us walked along the street fronting the bay and crossed the river. Miguel, in discussing the restaurants, often talks about availability of parking, but I don't think this is an issue for your group." I have personally eaten at La Palapa and loved it. Like my Dad mentioned, while walking one night on the Malecon, I think we saw the River Cafe and thought it was pretty. Choeft201 is having her rehearsal dinner there and it sounds like a great deal. I have been in contact with Bill from Agave Grill and Barcelona Tapas. Agave Grill was initially our top choice. He is nice but has been flaky, he kept telling us to call him, and when we did he was drunk (granted it was 6 o'clock on a Wed, happy hour time, but he wouldn't let my fiance get any word in edge-wise or get off the phone) and told us to email him our tastes, and we did, and then he just emailed back to call him, like he had forgotten that he had talked to us and specifically said that he wanted us to email him our preferences and then he would email us back in 3 days with a menu. Oh well lol. His ideas and the food sounded amazing I am just wary now. Barcelona Tapas have gotten great reviews on here, I just know with my grandma it would be hard to get her up all of those steps. Hope this helps! -
That dress is beautiful, and you look happy in it! When people ask me about my dress, I tell them it is "totally beach inappropriate" but I love it and will suffer through whatever to wear it lol! This is my dress, and I have to come down a long set of stairs and then walk across a beach, I am nervous, but I figure my Dad will just have to hold me up lol. So you should be fine to wear yours!

Thanks choeft201 for the info, sounds great! I have another question (probably one of a million coming up since it is less than 4 months away! ) but for the veteran LC brides....I have read the threads in the forum about what shoes to wear on the beach, but I was wondering what yall wore as there are the steps involved in the walk down the aisle also!?! Obviously, I will not be wearing heels, but I am now thinking about wearing a wedge, as I am short and like height. I am getting my bridesmaids barefoot jewelry I think. Will there feet burn on the sand (our ceremony is at 6 in May so hopefully not)? Did you wear different shoes during the reception? Has anyone walked down the aisle in wedges? Thanks so much!

One of my bridesmaid's baby will be 9 months at that time and my FSIL's baby will be 6 months. They do not want to bring them along, as even traveling to a different country with a baby is daunting to them (understandably). Family is watching them at home. I have also explained that it is not the type of reception where they can just leave....you are stuck here until the boat leaves lol. There will not be any kids at our wedding but I know some other girls on here have had some and they haven't mentioned it being a problem. I am also concerned for our 80-90 year old grandparents, but at this point I can't do much about it. I would just present it as a awesome baby free vacation for tired stressed out parents

It's never too early to look for a photographer! They book fast! I, personally, am flying one in from Dallas who I met on here. His name is Jared Rey and he posted in the vendors section as he is trying to get into destination weddings and had done one in Cabo that was gorgeous! The website for the "in-house" photographer is http://www.adventureweddingsphoto.com/ I think they are actually pretty good and have good pricing, and I just noticed that they offer trash the dress sessions, which I did not see they did before. Eva Sica from photoshoots vallarta is supposed to be good and had good prices. http://www.photoshootsvallarta.com/ or http://www.tande.mx/ Nate Broshot has done a lot of weddings there too and has awesome photos. I have also hear of Paulina Ulloa, Jillian Mitchell, and Michelle Turner. As for the number of guests, I am getting worried too....people are replying yes and our guest list is growing and I think we will have at least 60 at this point.....but who knows, a lot of people haven't officially booked yet but are planning to this month. I asked Kelley about the max number of people at a table, and she said 8-10. I think ChicagoPT posted some table set up charts of her wedding.

Hey girlies! It's almost only 4 months away, ahhh, and I still don't have my invitations sent out yet! Probably my fault because I took forever finding someone. However, our save the dates were sent out about 9-10 months prior and we started telling people about the trip about a year out. When did yall send out your formal invites? Anyway, I found Crystal at http://www.etsy.com/shop/artbycrystal and this is her website for her handmade invitations cldart.deviantart.com/gallery/#Invitations She literally handpaints her invites. I want a vintage Mexico theme with talavera, papel picado, etc. Anyway, she makes digital mockups of what she is going to do and this is what she sent me today, I LOVE it and she is even going to design red papel picado to place on the back of the invitation (which will be purple)! She is making a monogram and an invitation suite to include the invite, rsvp card, and information card. I can't WAIT to see them in person since it will be even more gorgeous because it will be hand painted!

LOVE it!

tanning bed or spray tan?
lesley_mexico_bride replied to bride2be31011's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
How much before your wedding are you planning on bed tanning? a month? two? My wedding is now less than 5 months away! I used to spray tan all the time until my fiance fessed up and said he thought it looked weird on me, and I have olive skin! I don't bed tan because I used to work at MD Anderson Cancer Center and that just freaked me out! I am not going to spray tan before the wedding because of it fading and getting on my dress, plus I hear it looks weird in pictures. So I think I will bed tan the minimal amount of time before the wedding. -
Yesterday was 5 months until the wedding, ahhhh!!! I contacted Kelley about 3 weeks ago to ask her something about the time on the invitation and she already sent me a form to fill out with our preferences to get started. She said it was early but wouldn't hurt to get some of it out of the way. It's finally starting to feel real now and it will be here before we know it!!
