Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
Mrsstivers replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I should also say that 8 outta 10 turn out great! I would just be scared to death that I would be one of those two who turned out terribly. -
Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
Mrsstivers replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Ladies I managed an optometric practice for 7 years and was a certified paraoptometric. Personally I would never have lasik done. Once you get older, 40+ you will still need reading assistance and contacts are not an option after lasik. So again you are stuck with glasses. If you currently have trouble wearing contacts and are stuck in glasses anyhow, then maybe lasik isn't such a bad idea. However I have seen very bad results and people with a lifetime of damage. Extremely dry eyes, inability to read due to halos, etc. I actually knew a college professor that had it done and it impacted her job greatly because the results were so horrible. She had to start getting all her curriculum on audio. If you do do it, I wish you the best. But please do it in the US, regardless of what country you are from. US doctors are a bit more modern and up to date on medical techniques. And follow up regularly with an OD, I strongly recommend someone from a private practice. -

Found my dress on my first trip out looking! Love the fact that my daughters dress matches. This pic is with a brown sash but I think we are gonna use tangerine instead. Weddingdress.jpg picture by momma2taylor - Photobucket -
What to do- friend can't afford to come
Mrsstivers replied to ktchi's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
How badly do you want her there? We are totally struggling, maxing out credit cards to pay for the wedding. But we offered to pay for my best friend when she said she couldn't afford it. It was so important to me to have her there I didn't care what it cost me. Ultimately she declined to let us pay but I would have done anything to have her there. So thats what you have to ask yourself. -
Okay, I am lost as how to go about this... my fiance and I each have one attendant (A week ago we had none, but some friends changed their minds. Yippee!) So I wonder do I have the attendants stand at the "altar" from the very beginning? I feel like it would look goofy to have them walk down the aisle since they are the only ones. Another question, do I play music as I walk? There will only be 2 guests there watching! And lastly my invitations are going out next week. I know who told me that they would try and then didn't end up booking... what has your experience been? I am hoping these people will book at the last moment.

For Sale- Pretty Much Everything!
Mrsstivers replied to Mrsstivers's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Sorry girls, I only get on the forum a couple times a week and still haven't mastered it yet! If you sent me a regular email address I did email you. If you did send me a email address to respond to and did not get a response please email me again at [email protected] -
Construction orange, crocheted pot holders. I am pretty sure she got them at a yard sale. LOL

Oh my, that is terrible. I totally understand, I have sisters that I have not seen in several years too. I can't imagine getting that news. Just look at it this way, would your sister want you to be broken hearted and would she want you to be excited for your big day? I think that any sister would want the best for their sibling and would want you to celebrate your wedding day to the fullest. I wish you the best.

Confession #1 - I can get around Facebook, Myspace and Twitter with my eyes closed, but this forum completely baffles me! Confession #2 - It really hurts my feelings that my parents have not offered a dime towards my wedding and aren't attending. You'd think since they aren't going they would have at least offered to pay for my dress, but no. Confession #3 - I am secretly hoping that my ILs will offer to pay for something. They had originally said that they would pay for the rehearsal dinner but now we aren't having a rehearsal dinner. So you say "yes, but now they have to pay for air and hotel!" Well that is true, but my MIL and BM talked me into the DW. I'm not complaining but I would never had done it without their pushing me. Confession #4 - My FSIL drives me up the wall. She is all about herself. An attention whore. She is 36, divorced and has two boys. My future IL's practically raise her kids. They have them all the time. MY future SIL is a nurse and when I told her the big news and asked if her boys could be in my wedding her response was not "Congratulations! We'd be honored!" No, not at all. Her response was "Are you paying for it?" She is dating this totally weirdo that she met online. He looks like Herman Munster and he is soooo weird! She just got engaged and broadcast it everywhere and called everyone all excited, which would be fine. But she doesn't even have a ring, it's in lay away. Personally, I think I would have waited til the ring was on my finger. But what really bugs me is that she had a HUGE wedding the first time, paid for 100% by my future ILs. And now she is planning another HUGE wedding, and I feel confident that mommy and daddy will pay this time too. I hope not. She talks about her ex husband 24/7 and is so obsessed with doing things to ruin the relationship between her kids and their dad, it's unfortunate. She puts herself and her need for revenge above her kids all the time. Confession #4 - I hate hate hate hate hate the fact that my future ILs treat their real grandkids so much better than my daughter. My daughter is the only little girl and we live in the same subdivision as my future ILs but they rarely see her. They have the other grandkids 3-4 times a week. They see my daughter approximately once a month. We invite them over 3-4 times a month and they never accept our invitations. We have lived 2 streets over since last August and they have been to our house 3 times.
