My AHR shoes that I can't wait to wear! -
LOVING THESE! They are so cute!! Well done:) I ordered mine today from endless.com....hoping they fit my "man feet" as FI calls them! Happy New Year to you ladies!!
-
BTW, those of you that are having AHR's, when are you sending out your invites?

Brandy those sandals are adorable!! I've been searching for some wedge flip-flops for our wedding on the beach since I'm wearing the same dress at our AHR and don't want to drag it in the sand. One thing I must have for my AHR is my purple shoes!! I've narrowed it down to these thus far: I realllllly want these, but FI is only 4 inches taller than me, and these are 4.5 inches:( On a funny note though, I put in "purple pumps" into the Amazon.com search bar.....and a purple p*nis pump showed up in the results! LOL!! Seriously. I found these shoes on a photog's blog and can't find them for the life of me. Anyone have any ideas? I love these!! I did manage to hire a wedding coordinator that I'm super pumped about. She was very quick to respond to my voicemail and it's SO NICE to be able to call her directly. The hotel we're staying at in Maui's basic "elopment" package is $3900 for the 2 of us! That's only an officiant, my bouquet/lei and his bout/lei, a coordinator, and a location! I think not. Plus, we wouldn't have been able to marry on the beach with that package b/c the hotel doesn't carry the permit required by the state of Hawaii for beach weddings. We're not going to Maui to get married in a garden gazebo!

So I stumbled onto this dress for our TTD session.....do you girls like the rhinestones or the pearl beading? The price rocks! http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2984554?origin=category&resultback=1507 or http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3116816?origin=category&resultback=1621

Sooo jealous that you have Chick-fil-As! We used to have one years ago in our town but it closed. The only one now is on our college campus in the union, and parking on campus is a huge pain if you're not a student. Love their sandwiches!

Hi ladies! Wow this has been a busy thread and it sounds like you girls have been getting lots of stuff done. I'm been super MIA. Between my crazy work schedule, FI opening his practice, and this wedding planning, I've been in a haze. On a fun note, after originally planning a Mexican DW, then deciding to elope to the Turks and Caicos but running into lots of photog drama, then considering the Caymans......we booked last night to go to MAUI!!! We're so super excited. We have an awesome travel agent we've used in the past for vacays who is coordinating the entire thing for us! She rocks. I'm so excited to just be told where to show up:) She's even coordinated hair and make-up artists to come to me! If you ever want a fun/stress free vacay planned, I'd love to pass on her name. We sent out our STDs last night for our AHR that's two weeks after we return from Maui. I'll post a pic later and I loved them. Through some Maui BDW brides I found Joanna Tano's photography. I emailed her and she promptly responded that she'll be on maternity leave during our wedding. She was very sweet and quick to respond. She recommended 2 other photogs with whom she's worked, I contacted both, and loved both of their work. I ended up hiring Anna Kim and am SO EXCITED for her to work with us. We've had several conversations on the phone and I really enjoy her. Plus her work rocks! Here's a link if you wanna take a peak: http://www.annakimphotography.com/weddings.html On another note, I completely agree, it's way too hard to be in the Christmas spirit when I have lots to do on our wedding list! We didn't even put up our Christmas decor until last weekend.....and we probably wouldn't have if we weren't hosting my family's Christmas dinner! Ha!

We would pay for all of our friends and family to travel with us.... We'd get married in Bora Bora and rent out all of the over water bungalos.... We'd take a month-long honeymoon;)....

Are you changing your name?
greysgirl replied to DGG's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I can't wait to change my name! When I was married 10 years ago, I changed my middle name to my maiden name. Then when I got divorced, I was in a bit of a bind. Ha! So yes, I can't wait to change my name. -
hospital: where I spend most of my time

Brady- What a great choice you have! They both are gorgeous! I made a fatal bride mistake and tried on more dresses AFTER I'd purchased a dress. Grrrrr. And of course, fell in love with another dress. This was my 1st choice: http://watters.com/product.php?coll=wtoobrides&showid=2559 I loved the way this dress felt. It was English net, and I loved how flowy it was. But, I couldn't get the other dress out of my mind. I stumbled onto this dress by complete accident. I had worked all night on call at the hospital, was exhausted, wearing the same scrubs I'd been in for 26 hours, and had to stop by a Best Buy to get a new Iphone holder. So on my way out of the Best Buy store, I noticed a new bridal store just adjacent to it. I walked in and saw my dress...and had to try it on. I loved it. It is completely unlike my 1st dress, but I couldn't get it out of my mind. I thought about it for a month and went back with one of my best friends to try it on again. When I came out of the dressing room, she started tearing up and said, "Darn it! I was hoping I'd hate it because I liked your 1st one!". So, I became a 2 dress bride. This dress is not beachy. But it's completely me. And my FI will love it. I can't wait to see his face with me in it:)

Brandy- Gorgeous dress! I love it! I think one-shouldered dresses make brides look tall and thin. I think it's called a French bustle to keep your dress up in the back. Lisa- I just saw your resort choice. My good friend and her FI just got back from spending a week at the Now Jade and said it rocked! They travel a bunch and said it was one of their favorite AI resorts. Just a fun FYI. Lua- We're in the same boat. I've owned my house for 5 years and my FI moved in in April after we got engaged. What if you register for new stuff? New dishes and decor can be fun:) Or, do you have any house projects you'd like to complete and you can register at a home store like Lowes? I'm not sure if we'll register or not. We are going on our weddingmoon without any guests, but I still feel a bit weird about it. I was married when I was 21 for 5 years and I'm not sure if that's why I feel funny about registering or not. My FI hasn't ever been married, so I don't want him to "miss out" on anything, but I still haven't reconciled my feelings on the registry.

Thanks ladies for all of your comments. I am still hopeful that the T&C will work out, but if not, we've been looking at Cayman resorts. On a much more fun note, we took our engagement photos on Thursday and they turned out great. It was super windy (AGAIN), but we found some good spots. We even had our dogs in a few photos. I'll post some soon. As far as TTD attire goes, is anyone doing a knock-off of their original dress? Our wedding is 2 weeks before our AHR, so I don't want to trash the dress that I'm getting married in. I keep lurking on the knock-off dress thread trying to decide if I want to go that route. I'm hoping everyone's drama has died down this weekend:-)

speechless: I've got nothing...

I'm glad to hear it Krys! Thanks for the update:)

LOVE! (not just like) Keeping up with the Kardashians?
-
Well, looks like I'll have to participate in vent Friday. I found out a few days ago that the T&C immigration apparently requires a $500 work permit for the photographer we're taking with us...and supposedly getting that permit approved is difficult. SERIOUSLY?!? Grrrrrrrrrr. So I emailed the wedding consultant at the hotel we're wanting to use, and she got back to me quickly, but will be unavailable due to the arrival of Hurricane Tomas this weekend. Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh! FI and I discussed it last night and we may scrap the whole T&C idea and head to the Caymans instead. I don't really care where we get married (since it's just the 2 of us it's easier to change plans) as long as it has a gorgeous beach, and my sweet FI. The rest will (eventually) fall into place.

Thanks for keeping everyone posted Krys. I'll keep you guys in my prayers!

How long to receive marriage certificate in Turks & Caicos?
greysgirl replied to alundy's topic in The Islands Weddings
Thanks for your response! I was wondering how long it would take... -
Hi ladies:) I am officially an April 2011 bride! After attempting to plan a DW in Mexico, we happily decided to elope (shhhh it's a secret! yaay!) to the Turks and Caicos. We'll get married April 12th or 13th, depending when we can get our license. April 13th will be our 3 year anniversary, so that would be fun. Life is so good since this decision:) We're flying down our photographer from here and are super pumped about him and his work. He's going to do a video to show at our AHR of our wedding and our trip. I ordered my Watters dress a month ago, then made a fatal bridal mistake and tried on another dress on a whim....and fell in love with another dress. I thought about it for a few weeks, then bought it a few days ago. I LOVE this dress, even more the 2nd time than the 1st. It feels amazing on. So now I'm a 2 dress bride (ha!). I think I'll try to sell my 1st dress b/c I can't imagine wearing it now that I have MY dress. I'm definitely NOT trying on any more dresses:) We've attempted to take our engagement photos 3 times now, only to cancel due to our crazy weather here. Last night was attempt #3 and our wind speeds were 25-30mph. Not good for hair! We're going to try again Weds or Thurs this week. I'm getting anxious to get our STDs out! No one but my family and my best friends know that we're eloping, so we're going to word our STDs and invites as our "wedding celebration". We plan to take a fun photo with our passports during our engagement session to be sent out while we're in the Turks & Caicos to our guests announcing our elopement. Our AHR is 2 weeks after our elopement. Can't wait! Okay, so there's my introduction:) I can't believe how rapidly April is approaching!
