Those brochures ROCK Brandy! Yes, we're sending out our AHR invites tomorrow. They turned out really well. It's freaking snowing AGAIN here. Grrrr. Forecasts are calling for a foot of snow today, and my little car doesn't love that. I keep counting the days to Maui... On the subject of Maui, FI's mother called him to whine AGAIN about not getting "invited" to Maui with us. Um, I'm pretty sure "elopement" means just two people. My mom is amazing and I'd love to have her at our wedding, but we decided it was going to be either ALL of our family, or NONE. He handles his mom well though, and I have to just let him do it, but it is hard to bite my tongue when a grown woman acts so childish. Bleh.

Teira- I'm glad the BD shoot was so much fun! Can't wait to see your teasers;) I'm sure you were smokin' hot! I agree that $200 is expensive for 30 min for that chuppah, but if you reallllly want it, $200 is justifiable I think. It's the same about as going out to eat three times in a month! That being said, the good news about beach weddings is that they provide their own scenery and don't need tons of decor. On that note, I think we've decided to do a purple orchid flower ring as our only decoration for our wedding. I love purple orchids, and thank GOD they grow everywhere in Hawaii! Finally! Something that doesn't cost tons of money in Maui!! LOL We also bought FI's suit last night here in town. We lucked out b/c he just picked a nice Perry Ellis linen suit off of the rack and it fit!!! It only needs to have the sleeves taken up about an inch. We decided to scrap the tie idea and are just going to find him a nice purple shirt to wear under his suit. Do you girls think purple would work, or should we do white? He'll just wear the tie we bought him at our AHR. Also, where have you ladies found nice leather flip flops for your FI's? Brandy, I think I just gave you a couple shopping tasks. Do any of you have I-phones? I downloaded this fun app called Big Day Lite that you can customize to count down to any big day. It's free...which is nice with all of the flames coming out of our checking accounts lately. I checked it this morning and we're getting married in 64 days!!!

I say go for it! But, what worries you about the 85-90%? Are there some features about this dress that are absolute must haves that you can communicate with the seller? Mocha had some great points about buying a knockoff. Yet another reason why this thread rocks!

When we were down in the RM this summer to scout resorts, we found a bunch of CHEAP (like a dollar or less) maracas all over the town of Playa del Carmen. I'm betting you could easily go out and snag the ones you need without having to worry about the hassle or cost of getting them down there. I also recommend the Bose docking station. The sound output is amazing from such a small speaker. The portable one is nice, but it's pricey (just under $400), I used one of these for a surprise 60th Birthday luau I threw for my mother last summer. It was outside and the sound was great from it.

It has been quiet on here today! Normally when I log on there are pages and pages for me to catch up on. Welcome to the new ladies who have joined! I love that there are some May brides on here too:) I just met with the owner of our venue for our AHR and I'm excited. We picked the menu (pending FI's approval of course) and picked our wines to offer. We're going to have a staff member hand champagne to our guests as they enter to kick the party off on a fun foot. We are also picked our wines and beers, and are going to offer several cocktails. Does anyone know of any fun signature drinks we could offer? After that meeting, I met with our florist along with our coordinator for our AHR. I'm really excited about the things our florist will do with our space. Our AHR is in a wine bar that is owned by one of my BF's fathers, so he's letting us have it all night. It will have a cool, metropolitan feel with lounge furniture and high top tables. I think we're going to hire a cigar roller too, since our space has a great patio. We just want our guests to have an amazing time. On another note, is anyone hiring someone to videotape your wedding? We will show a slideshow of our pics at our reception, and want to also show a video of our vows, but the quotes I've gotten from Maui for 2ish hours with quick turn around are $650! Is it worth it?

Does anyone have any races on their calendar for this year? I'm running a 1/2 the weekend between my bachelorette party in Vegas and leaving for our wedding in April. I hope to run another 1/2 marathon up Pike's Peak in August, and have put in for the NYC lottery. If I don't get in to NYC, I'll maybe run the full marathon in my hometown in October. What is everyone else running?

Welcome SeeFlowers!! This forum rocks! You are going to love the Riu Palace RM! We took a trip down in June to scout resorts in Playa and loved this place! We were planning to have our DW there, until those plans became complicated and we decided to elope:) PM me your email address if you want any of the tons of pics I took of the resort. The food there was awesome (as evidenced by the 4 lbs I gained in 4 days) and the pool area was SO MUCH FUN!
