  1. Hi ladies! JanineA your wedding is in 2 weeks! Wow! We have decided to fly our photographer down to the T&C with us and we're super excited. He rocks and will be tons of fun too. We've tried 3 times now to take our engagement photos only to cancel due to our crazy weather here. Last night was attempt #3 and our wind speeds were 25-30mph...not good for hair! Ha! So we'll try again next week. I am anxious to get out our STDs for our AHR though. We are leaning towards the Gansevoort. Has anyone had any experiences (good or bad) with this resort? It is gorgeous. We also are considering the Veranda and the Sommerset. At least all of these choices are great ones:) I can't wait.....less than 6 months!
  2. Hi ladies:) I just wanted to introduce myself. We're eloping to the Turks and Caicos for an April 12th wedding! The next 6 months will FLY by....I'm hoping:)
  3. Congrats!! Now you have the bug;) YES, you can totally do a full if you've done a half. I ran Chicago last weekend and LOVED it, except that it was 86 degrees F when we finished! Plus, I'd had a fever for 72 hours prior to the race, so I felt a bit deflated. I did run my fastest time yet though, but was not satisfied with my time....thus I'm already planning my next marathon.
  4. 1288.72 + 26.82 (Chicago marathon!!) = 1315.54 miles !
  5. THANK YOU soooo much for all of that info. We're still weighing our options but know it will be the T&C. It's fun to finally be excited about our wedding after all of the stress we went through trying for the last 5 months to plan a DW that pleased everyone else in Mexico. Life is much better!
  6. Welcome:) It IS fun...you just have to decide what's more important to you guys: A. having all of your friends/family there and pleasing them or B. having the wedding you two want and deciding to let other's opinions roll off of your back. I totally sympathize with you though. We went through the same thing (only with his family) and finally decided to elope just the two of us. Whatever you decide though will be gorgeous. Just remember that we've all been there and are here for support/venting:)
  7. Thanks:) We're looking right now at the Grace Bay Club, the Sommerset, and the Gansevoort. Any input about these? It will just be the 2 of us and we like to both have a good time and relax.
  8. I ordered my Watters dress last week (eeeeee!!!) and am considering ordering a knock-off to do our TTD since I want to wear my dress to our AHR. Has anyone seen or received a good knock-off using English net or tulle?
  9. Hi ladies:) After beginning to plan a Mexico DW and all the drama associated with that, we've decided to elope to the T&C in April! Soooo excited:)
  10. I'm loving the running skirt too, btw. I was dead set again buying one, but once I tried one I really liked it. Plus, they are better at hiding the running brief wedgie;)
  11. How's everyone's running going? I'm 2 weeks out from my marathon in Chicago (yaaaaay!)....which means that The Future Mrs. Thompson is 2 weeks away from being a bride.
  12. I have 40 unused Spanish for Dummies and 7 (I think) Spanish Phrases for Dummies for sale. I bought them at Target in the dollar section. I will sell for $0.50 a piece plus shipping to you. They are in great condition and will make a fun addition to your OOT bags:)
  13. I did 14 yesterday, which was my longest distance since my knee scope in January, and felt like a champ! Woo hoo! My training plan is only having me do 3-4 days of running per week, with 2 cross-training days, and I think it's one that works for my legs. What training plans are you ladies using?
  14. i should try: booking AHR venue
  15. Great job! Thanks for posting these....inspiration for those brides like me who want to do some DIY things, but need help:)
  16. Our food was fabulous! We weren't expecting it to be so good since it was an AI. We ate the buffet 3 nights, once even an hour before our scheduled dinner at Krystal b/c it was so good. At Krystal we had the salmon and steak which were both great. I loved the breakfast buffet too. It had a smoothie bar (my favorite), a Bloody Mary station, Mimosa station, and any breakfast food you'd want. At night, there was an amazing dessert bar with a chocolate fountain. Needless to say, I came home with 4 extra pounds. The mixed drinks were strong!! They have a great martini list that is fun. The only beer they serve is Dos Equis, which was tasty. They do have some upper shelf liquors, which also surprised me. The frozen drinks were good, but premixed, so not very strong. The bartenders gladly added more liquor if you requested. I will say that the cups they provide are tiny (like a juice cup), so we definitely plan to give our guests cups in the OOT bags. Our service was fantastic here. We did tip a lot, just because it felt like the right thing to do, although we never felt obligated. The front desk was awesome with straightening out our transfer back to the airport mess. We had arranged for a private transfer with American Express, but our driver never met us to tell us when he'd come get us for our return flight. The woman who helped us at the front desk made the call for me, and even left us a cute note in our door about our pick-up time. All in all, it was a great site visit and we're super excited to share our wedding with our friends and family at the Riu RM:)
  17. More pics (my session timed out....grrrrrr) 2 options for ceremony, both of which are right next to the pool: beach. gazebo pics of the hotel main bar area in the lobby with lots of seating areas same seating area looking out to the plaza lobby gazebo in the plaza right by the main building gorgeous grounds looking from pool to hotel great area to nap under the trees, next to chilis and the pool bar
  18. Okay ladies....here are the pics of the Riu RM from our site visit. From my meeting w/ Nancy, I understood that the two options for restaurants were Chilis or Botofogo. Here are those two spaces: Botofogo Chilis food area at Chilis upper deck of Chilis I also thought this area would be great for a smaller reception after the pool closed. It's on the opposite side of the pool bar. Some pool pics. We LOVED the pool. It was huge and has great built in loungers, fun little cubbies in the bar area, fountains, a volleyball net, and an infinity part.
  19. I know we're all super busy in our lives and then we throw planning a DW on top of it all. I relieve stress by running! My worst of days are turned around by a good run. Who else is a runner who has an upcoming race? What are your training plans? How do you fit in running to your busy day? What running sites and/or gear do you live by? I thought it'd be fun to start a thread where we can give each other support for our love (or loathing) of running:) I'll start. I'm running the Chicago Marathon on 10/10/10. It'll be my 3rd full marathon, having run New York and Dallas. I have a few shorter races sprinkled in there before Chi. I'm using a custom McMillan training plan and LOVING it. I run whenever I can, but am best before the sun comes up...like 5am runs. I would marry my foam roller if Greyson hadn't already asked
  20. 1240.34 + 6.13 of hill repeats today = 1246.47 miles
