  1. Thanks for posting this! I'm currently working on a playlist to give to my DJ!

I'm planning to have my reception right next to the ceremony area. She never gave a clear answer to my question so my guess is that it can be done. I didn't ask to move them, just do it in the evening. Any MP brides able to answer this question?? I heard one bride say that her fireworks were at her reception. I'm having the ceremony athe Bugambilias Gazebo and the reception afterward at the Bugambilias Terrace. I don't think they will have a problem doing the fireworks at the reception site when it's right next to each other...

LOL. just playing dev. advocate. im hoping to be mosquito free too! but just in case, i think im putting the little off wipes in my oot bags. i also heard that the resort has citronella candles. might be worth while to request those in advance to prevent a swarm! I heard that mosquitoes can be a problem. I have provided insect repellant in my OOT bags and I informed my guests that mosquito repellant during the wedding is highly recommended...

We asked for a 3 hour DJ just for the reception and according to the guy, the DJ does all the announcements so we really do not need a master of ceremonies.

I guess my glass votives will be alright. I mean LED lights are practical but I think luminaries are way prettier. I am making my own luminaries and I can tell my guests they can always bring those home.

Renting the sound system with Ipod hook up is a lot cheaper, but you have to make the whole playlist from beginning to end, giving you more work to do. I asked the DJ for 3 hours instead of 4 hours (I don't need him during the cocktail reception) and I got a quote for $1100. He has also other packages. I think the reason why it gets so expensive with their DJ is that he does a lot of add-ons such as the lighting console etc. I am going to ask him if the lighting is absolutely necessary as I already asked DecoCancun to add extra lighting for the event.

Tresor de LANCOME ; ) You're lucky you get to do that. Unfortunately, I do not meet Claudia until three days prior to the wedding. I guess I will have to with a tip and a letter of recommendation.
  8. Thanks for the info. I found a couple of etsy sellers who are able to accommodate my request. Etsy is such a godsend.

  10. I have been considering using glass votives with candles as centerpieces for my reception. However, I have been hearing mixed reviews about this as I heard several brides saying that it was too windy to use candles and they recommend using LED tea lights instead. I was hoping to wrap the glass votives with vellum and make them into luminaries. Any ideas?

  12. Thanks for the great ideas everyone! I was thinking making tags out of cardstock and having guests write their wedding wishes on it and put them on a glass container with sand at the bottom. Polaroids are a great idea too! I have a polaroid camera but I have no clue where to get the polaroid film.

Thanks! I contacted my WC in Miami, Carilis Felipe to set up the group excursion to Chichen Itza because it is included in the Palace Passports promotion. In addition, Carilis is setting up transportation for my group.
  15. Hmm... All that talk of wind and not being able to use tea lights is making me reconsider buying tea lights. However, I just bought a couple of votives with votive holders. I was planning on wrapping them with vellum paper to make them into luminaries. Any ideas if that will withstand the wind?
  16. Here is my wedding playlist. I will have a violin soloist that the resort provided. Prelude: Claire de Lune by Debussy Entrance of the Wedding Entourage: Canon in D by Pachelbel Entrance of the Bride: All I Ask Of You by Andrew Lloyd Webber Lighting of the Unity Candle: Meditation from Thais by Massenet Recessional- Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring by J. S. Bach The WC told me that the soloist only knows 3 of the 5 songs provided but not to worry since the soloist will have all 5 down pat by July. I'm just bringing a CD in case of any emergency.
  17. Hi everyone! I was wondering what are your ideas for a wedding guestbook. I did not want to go with a traditional guestbook or a larged framed photograph. I heard that some people used bird cages. Any ideas?

Anybody ever been to La Gondola or Bugambilias? I just need a place that is not too loud or too noisy.

I'm planning to go there the day after the wedding. However, I have arranged a group excursion for my guests to Chichen Itza.
  20. Thanks for the information. I'll check David's Bridal out. I was also looking at Nordstrom at their weddings section

I just want a place where me and my guests could actually mingle without worrying about noise and stuff...
  22. Wow! You guys certainly got busy. I just found out that the company I ordered my flower girl dresses from are unable to obtain them from the designer So now I'm back to shopping around for flower girl dresses...
  23. House of Brides tell me that they are unable to obtain my requested flower girl dresses It's less than 3 months to the wedding and I need 5 flower girl dresses fast. I have been looking at JCrew and Janie and Jack online to see if they are able to do it. Any suggestions?
  24. WC reports to me that tres leches is not an option due to melting issues She says that although the cake will be done in fondant icing (thank goodness!) tres leches will melt in the heat. Tres leches is one of my favorite flavors...
  25. Soo disappointed now.. I was originally planning to have my rehearsal dinner at MoMoNoHaha. WC says due to the number of guests coming, they cannot reserve more than 10 people at Los Corporales, MoMoNoHaHa or El Caribeno. I have to pick between El Manglar, Bugambilias or La Gondola. Any suggestions between the three?
