  1. I'm a Canadian living in the land of Oz, so it's been interesting to coordinate two countries to meet somewhere in the middle!
  2. this has been a great resource for me, hope it's the same for you!
  3. they look great! Glad I'm not the only one who has had printing problems.....nice to see all your tips.
  4. Hi Amanda, Too bad about the deletion! I've sent you a PM and would be keen to know who you flew with (have the guests are flying from Canada) and when people started booking.
  5. I think I put something similar, less poetic though! Once I set up the registry I am going to add the link above the statement, and send an "update email" to all the guests. We do ask that if you are planning to go to Hawaii, that you do not bring or give us gifts. We see it as a gift to have you attend, and we are sure that you can save that money on an holiday excursion. I used weddingwire.com because they are free and are pretty easy to use. They have a lot of designs, but are bit limited in font types and colours. I'm really happy with how the website turned out, and my guests have found it easy to use.
  6. is there anything at the hotels that you are staying at? A local beach park could be an option if you don't mind it not being exclusive.....
  7. have you tried looking around the forum? When I was searching I'm not sure if that one came up......best bet is to check to see if there have been any complaints with the better business bureau, and google around. I'm using Lori from Tropical Maui Weddings, and she's been great so far.
  8. I have put that disclaimer on our registry page of the website because we haven't set up the registry yet, and as people are just looking for info at this point and not booking, I don't want them to think they have to give to that AND book a DW.
  9. great idea! I'm going to check them out too.
  10. we posted on FB after telling our parents first. I was ok with people finding that way, as it's the cheapest and easiest way to do so
  11. http://www.theartfulhen.com.au/portraits This is a company based in Australia but it will give you an idea for what to look for. Maybe try googling it for your own area. They also organise bachelorette nights (they call them hen's in Australia) which I'm very tempted to do because it looks like fun! Originally Posted by L&J Karyan, I love the idea of a nude sketch. 12. Well, I was thinking formal invites 6 months in advance, but I think now I'll do 3 months before. as it will really only go to travelling guests and then I can include the "What to bring" list as well as tourism info. I figure I'll have to call/email all those who haven't RSVP'd online or booked rooms anyways (just to confirm) but that's easier then making 100 extra invites. The exception to the rule is family members who aren't going (eg our grandmothers) as I think they would want the keep sake of the wedding invite.

    Shoes!!

barefoot or flats are prob best, and then nice shoes for the reception.
  14. I thought the same, so we sent STD a year in advance, and I am only going to send invites to relatives and guests who are attending the DW, and it's a mere formality. I put all the ceremony and reception info on the website just so guests could see what was going to happen. I didn't want to make formal invites but this was the compromise I came to with my hubby to be.
  15. That's the best way to go, maybe send an update to people once you do have the info up.
  16. I don't think it's unreasonable to put the rates in the invitations, sometimes it's a struggle to get people to check the websites, and they are going to see the price at some point anyways, so no need to beat around the bush either
