  1. Ladies, rumor has it that Old Navy is having a sale of flip flops on Saturday for $1
  2. DEFINITELY! I feel the same about you DeAngelis2be!!! *smiles*
  3. I wish there was a way to instant message on here!
  4. Susan- my quote was $859 for 5 days/4 nights arriving Oct 18, 2011. Maybe your rate is higher because it's in June. Or maybe mine is less because it's the end of hurrican season
  5. For the brides that are having their reception at Port Maria...are you going with the included buffet or a sit down dinner?
  6. Yeah, you are absolutely correct about the fees. I wish my fiance and I would have had the time to visit and check out everything...especially all the details and charges. We thought we may save some money having a destination wedding,we were so wrong! I hate the fact that the $3000 for the wedding ceremony only covers what ...10 people and it's an extra $20 per person. I having almost 60 people. I refuse to pay another $1000 (and what doe's the additional $20 pp cover anyway..chairs, cake, champagne.... what? Oh and them saying "prices are subject to change without notice!" what's up with that? That really pisses me off. I may have done it a little different, if I wasn't so excited about going to Jamaica. If I could do it all over again, I may have just stayed in NY for the wedding and honeymooned at Iberostar. Oh, and what's the deal with charging people who are in your group but are staying at the Suites? I think that is so wrong. My cousin who is my maid of honor has kids, so she's staying down there, but her parents and the rest of the family is staying at the Grand. I feel horrible asking her and her husband to pay each day for day passes. I was told by Janielle that I would be able to get a discounted rate of $50 per person. *thanks for a little break*
  7. I'm going to be sooo jealous if you get the Presidential Suite, You know you're going to have to take pictures of it!!! I sent your upgrades to my TA asking her to work her magic! LOL I know we were bumped to an ocean front suite and saved a BUNCH of money on our rate because of having so many rooms booked.
  8. Hey DeAngel - what sort of freebees and upgrades did you get? Maybe I can get some from my TA
  9. Would someone forward me a contact email for the company please? Im not sure If I had the correct one. Thanks,!!!
  10. Hey Grand Brides...I need some help. Here's my dilemna: Im trying to settle on colors for the wedding. I believe the Port Maria is light green inside, right? The boys are wearing Khaki linen suits and I'm trying to decide on either Cobalt or Petunia colored dresses for the girls. HELP ladies,Im pulling my hair out!
  11. I was told that I would be charge $100 to cancel and then my guest who booked would be penalized as well since, I have a group rate. Didn't think it was worth all the hassle to have my guest penalized and the new room rate would be the current rate that they have now...which is alot more.
  12. Futuremrstgun, Im getting married on Oct 22 at the Grand.
  13. Has anyone thought about going the private transfer route instead of waiting for the hotel shuttle?
  14. Susan, When did Janielle get back to you? I sent her an email on 4/20 and have yet to hear anything from her. REALLY ANNOYING
  15. Janielle is the newest WC at the Grand. I sent her an email on 4/20 asking her two pages of questions and HAVE YET TO recieve a response. Not even a "thank you for you email...or I'll et back to you as soon as I can!" NOTHING...very frustrating. I mean if they only have one wedding a day...what's the deal? Unless, she has other job requirements besides WC. I'm also not to happy that this is my THIRD coordinator since I booked last MAY!
  16. Congrats Jules!!! I can't wait to read your review! Enjoy your honeymoon! Oh, would you do me a HUGE favor and take pictures of the inside of Port Maria at the Grand? That's where we have to have our reception since we're having more than 30 people!!
  17. I'm doing something exactly like #1. But I love the last one...it's funky and different.
  18. WOW, that's a lot of people Susan! I thought I had too many at 60 people. 75 wholly cow
  19. Thanks so much for the info. I was planning on putting Appleton in my welcome bags too! I love this site! I'll be reaching out to them on Monday!
  20. Thanks for the feedback Susan. The one thing I derfinitely appreciate about this site is, how we're able to bounce ideas off one another! I don't plan on receiving a response from Janielle before next week. I know a lot of the ladies on here keep mentioning "Island Time." I was actually planning on sharing all the responses to my questions. Im sure another bride on here has the same exact ones. How many people are you having? I didn't even think about a beach party after the ceremony....hmmm with fire dancers too. I'll have to look into that. I think Im going to be on the lookout for pashminas in NYC. I sent a message to one of my Aunts down there to start pricing them.
  21. Anyone ordering pashmina s for their guests? If so, depending on the price, I would love to go in on an order with someone.
  22. Has anyone thought or inquired about renting lounge furniture for either rehersal dinner or reception?
  23. CKNTB, I heard from a couple of brides, that the sand doesn't do well on the flight back home. A lot of them did it over, once they returned home. Just something to think about.
