Hi! I am getting married at Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana on May 21 2011. I want to have a cocktail hour with canapes but am trying to find a location on the resort that is close to a bar so we can save $$ on the "cocktail" part. I plan to just purchase the canapes which comes with soda, juice, water and let guests who want alcoholic drinks grab them from a bar. I figure with 18 bars on the resorts there must be a location which would suit this purpose. I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been to this resort. Thanks! Michaela

Hi! I'm trying to decide where to hold a cocktail hour we plan to have the evening everyone arrives in Punta Cana. Many people don't know each other nad we thought it would be a good way to introduce everyone. The wedding coordinator said we could choose between the Garden, Gazebo area, beach, Las Olas, Solarium. They recommended the solarium, She said it was large and next to the pool. I've written back asking "which pool?" and if they have any pictures, but have not received a response in 3 days. So I thought I'd try here. Any advice or pictures from those who have been there would be great!!! There will be 27 people at the cocktail hour. Thanks!

That shouldn't be a problem. I'm getting married there next month and we have people staying at Bavaro, Punta Cana, and Ambar and was specifically told nobody would be charged as a guest at the wedding and reception as long as they are on the "Gran Bahia" resort. If your concerned though, get the confirmation from them in an email.

I would NOT recommend WEDO.com. The rules, at least from the USA, have changed in the last year and she either didn't entirely understand the changes or didn't want to help me understand them. I would recommend just going through your consulate. We did it all through mail and, once I understood the process (the consulate was MUCH more helpful), it was really quick.

I also am curious about the make-up and hair services at the spa. Did anyone use them? Were they good? Expensive? I would love to hear reviews! I'm getting married there on May 21, 2011.

Booked the wedding, booked the rooms, got the dress, bridesmaid gifts, and mother of bride/groom gifts. Just working on air reservations and what little I can do about decorations before I get there. OH.. and I need SHOES! Â You?!?

I'm at gran bahia principe. We're not doing a dj, open bar, and all the extras. Just a private dinner reception in one of their restaurants. They charge $600 or $75o depending on total number of guests for a private dinner.

I'd love to also! It looks perfect, just not sure I can justify spending $2000 on a reception when I can have a private one at the resort for $750. We'll see

I'm so confused. Now the WC is telling me that we can't get the promotion because we requested the Blissful Love package. But when I asked her this before I made my deposit, all I was told was that the judge was not included in the free wedding and we would have to pay $700 for the judge if we still wanted a civil ceremony (not symbolic). We were not told we couldn't still have the Blissful Love package with this promotion. I could REALLY use some advice from anyone who's getting married there or has been married there recently. HI! Does anyone have experience using the free wedding promotion at Gran Bahia Punta Cana? What are the requirements? We will have at least 10 rooms booked for 3 nights each and hope that will be enough. I think the website says something about this, but it wasn't very clear. Hi! I'm getting married there on May 21, 2011. Any advice on reception location? RIght now we're thinking private reception at Garden Grill. WE also want a "welcome" cocktail hour the evening before. The wedding coordinator says Las Olas is the most popular location. Hard to make these decisions since I've never been there!!!!!

Hi! We're getting married here on May 21, 2011! We've reserved the Blissful Love packege and have our ceremony scheduled for 4pm. Colors are tiffany blue and red. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do for the reception and if I want a coktail hour. I'm debating whether to go all out on the reception (dj, dancing, etc) or just have a private dinner then head to the club on the resort. What do you guys think? I'm also not sure what to bring for centerpieces, welcome bags, and favors since I'll have to pack it along with everything else!
