Diva - I was there Nov 09 and stayed in building 4. I didn't really notice the smell while I was there, but the must was definitely in all of my clothes when I got back. I actually take a big whiff of my makeup brush once and while and can still smell punta cana, haha!

Hello Ladies, I am pricing out one week stays at Excellence Punta Cana with TA's right now and the prices are pretty high ($1800 per person w/ flight out of Chicago) compared to last year. My FI and I stayed at the Excellence in December 2009, booked 7 months in advance and paid $1250 per person for 8 nights including flight. Now when I bring this figure up with the TA's they say 'don't even use that as a benchmark' -- I'm not sure if they are telling the truth or not, but they said last year was a really bad travel year and so the deals were much better. I am super worried that our guests will end up forking out a lot more money than we initially told them. For now I am just waiting to see if better deals appear online... One thought I had is to have a thread where we could post our wedding date and resort, and for anyone else who will be getting married at the same resort within the same week (or two week) timeframe, to collectively go to the resort as 'one group' and see what kind of deal we could get then! Any January 2011 Excellence brides out there want to collaborate with me

Can anyone tell me the rates they were quoted by either working with the resort directly or through their travel agent? We are planning a Jan 2011 wedding and want to know if the prices we've been quoted are fair/reasonable. Also, are you getting package deals with flights, or no? Last year we vacationed for 7 days/8 nights in December for $1250 per person with flight from CheapCaribbean.com--they don't seem to have group rates though and I was quoted much a much higher rate ($165 pppn) by the resort. We are planning for a group of 25-40 ppl. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks !!

Hello Everyone! I am excited to start reading all of the great posts this forum has to offer. I feel very stressed out because we decided to get married Jan 15 2011 and there is so much to do! If anyone can offer up some advice on travel agents or how you got all of your guests a good rate, that is my first concern. We are planning our wedding from Chicago (most of our guests live here) and will be going to Excellence Punta Cana. I am also looking for some good places to get bridesmaid dresses for all sizes of women...I have six girls who are short, tall, skinny, plus-sized and everything in between =) I am not so happy with selection at David's Bridal ...
