I don't know how far in advance you are going prior to the wedding but if you don't want to lug big frames from home you can check the Municiple Market in town they have tons of vendors and am sure you will find something you like that way everyone can take home something from Puerto Vallarta. 2. We ended up taking an extra bag on the plane with us. It was better to pay the baggage fee than to pay for shipping.
  3. Hi Crystal, I got married at the gazebo, and I asked Esman and he told me where to meet him. I walked down to the meeting point with my neice who gave me away and the photographer. Check with the WC once you get to the resort.
  4. Hi, I just had my wedding at Dreams PV May 9th and it was wonderful! As for the pictures, my photographer Cris, was with me through cocktail hour and the reception had photos of the first dance, cake cutting as well. So, I am not sure who gave you that information, but your photographer should be there. As for the slideshow, I was not told it was only for a year, I will have to see if I can figure out a way to copy it to disc. If I am able to I will let you know. I am really sorry to hear that Esman is leaving, I had 4 wedding coordinators within about 9 months time. Everytime I heard there was a change I contacted the new WC to make sure they had all of my information and forwarded all of my e-mails. Good Luck with everything, try not to stress too much my wedding was way beyond my expectations, everythig went perfectly.
  5. I read the warning I do not think it is for the Puerto Vallarta Area, I think it is further north. There is a Navy and Army base by the hotel zone in Puerto Vallarta, and don't think you should have any problems. We are planning on taking all of our guests to Andale's on Olas Atlas and we will stick with that plan. Hope this helps to alleviate some of your fears, I know some of my guests were apprehensive also. I can tell you that a friend of my sister's visits Puerto Vallarta 4 times a year and has not had a problem. We will be arriving next Friday, with our guests following on Saturday. My FI and I are going into town on Saturday to have lunch at a little place we discovered in town the last time we were there. Good Luck!
  6. I am getting married at Dreams PV in about 5 weeks. We decided to use the photographer that came with the package at the resort. You can go to Puerto Vallarta Adventures to see their photo gallery. Pictures were important to us too, and I think they did a great job with the weddings that they posted.
  7. When I emailed Esman I was told there would not be a fee for decor set-up. This has me a little worried.
  8. I am getting married in May but sent out my invitations the first week in January. I kept my response date consistant with when our travel agent stated the first payment was due, which is February 6th. So far we have 16 people joining us...15 responses still outstanding! Seeing that I am from Pittsburgh, I believe that people are thinking of the SuperBowl right now, had I known we would be playing in the SuperBowl I would have given it an extra week. I used a travel agent because it was much easier to have someone else handle all the questions.
  9. When I saw that Louise was leaving, I e-mailed Esman. I received a response the next day. I told him I had heard that Louise was leaving and asked if he needed copies of all of my communications with Sam, Rebeca, and Louise. He stated he had all communications. So we will see. I am getting married there in May and have been apprehensive since seeing all of the issues that people were having. I am meeting with him the afternoon we arrive so we shall see what happens. Good Luck!
  10. I think it would depend on when payment is due on the trip. 1st payment for our wedding in May is February 6th so I sent my invitiations out in the beginning of January...The response date I used was the first payment due date. It worked out pretty well. Hope this helps
  11. Hi Nikki, We were just in Playa Del Carmen in May, and our friends just came back last week. No problems going into the Playa at all. I am always watching but I am not too worried I am getting married in Puerto Vallarta, and do not feel uneasy at all. That is not to say that things cannot happen, but a lot of times the violence is not directed at tourists.
  12. Hi Aprilmay, I am getting married at Dreams PV in May of 2011 and are also having the symbolic ceremony. I e-mailed Rebeca and asked if we would get a chance to meet with the minister(Lucie), she gave her my e-mail address and I have been in contact with Lucie since. We gave her the reading we want, religious preference, and had asked her to come up with some vows of a traditional nature. Lucie was great and once she is done working out the ceremony details she will e-mail them to us. Basically you can incorporate what you want and have Lucie omit what you do not want.
  13. I also have the Ultimate Package and they have cocktails slated for 1 hour and the reception for 3 hours.
  14. I am getting married at Dreams on May 9, 2011 and we also had our initial contact through Samantha. I would email and not get a response for 2 weeks. I recently asked that Rebeca take over planning for our wedding and she has been wonderful. I have had many email conversations with her in the last 5 days. She has sent me the menus for food selection. I did not know that you could mix and match the menus to make up what you are going to have served for dinners, but you can. She has been so helpful and responsive to my questions. If you are thinking of making the switch, I say go for it. You will not be sorry. Â
  15. We are getting married in Puerto Vallarta also. I have not heard anything either, but we do keep an eye out. I have been to Puerto Vallarta twice and absolutely love it. I have no apprehension, my fi's parents, who will not be traveling with us cannot believe that we are having all of these people go to Mexico. They hear the news stories, but do not understand that the resort areas are pretty safe. That is not the reason they are not going but, I am worried they may end up discouraging some of our guests. Â

I've personally never been to Mexico and reading the State Dept. report made me a little uneasy, even though I know most resort towns are very safe. It's still a little scary to think about! I have been to Puerto Vallarta twice. Once we stayed at Dreams, where we are getting married, and the other time we rented a condo. I felt completely safe. We went to town probably 4 times when we stayed at Dreams, even at night we had no problems. When we rented our condo we were right on the Malecon, went to Andale's, til about 2 am and walked back to the condo without incident. I did not see any travel warnings for PV, most of the violence seems to be contained to boarder towns and some in the central regions. There have been a few incidents in some resort towns but I am unaware of any in PV. We are keeping a close eye on this as well. But I believe that we will be OK in PV.

I forwarded her my credit card info and we filled out the initial paperwork (expected number of guests, when, where etc,) but she hasn't charged the deposit to us. I know others have mentioned something about not charging it until the next year's rates come out (my date is supposed to be May 24, 2011) but is this right? I'm about to get invites printed out but all of a sudden, I'm not 100% sure that our date has been officially confirmed... Can anyone that has booked shed some light? I think I'm just going to ask Rebecca to take over.. because I feel like Samantha is giving me false information... Hi, I am also dealing with Samantha, and had the same thing happen. She told me the date is secure but will not charge the deposit until we get a reservation code. I am also thinking that I should be dealing with Rebecca because I am worried. I also asked that even if we reserve a block of rooms are my guests able to use the travel agent of their choice. She tells me we can but I am feeling a little uneasy about dealing with her.

Rebecca was CCed originally when I first put in the request, but I stopped emailing her since my initial email came from Samantha. Should I be communicating with Rebecca instead? I'm already a little worried since she said the gazebo can fit up to 80 ppl and I have read reviews where 50 is tight..... Has anyone dealt with Samantha for planning their wedding? Hi M1984, I am also getting married at Dreams PV in May 2011. I also have Samantha, and so far communications have been o.k but not great. I am a little worried and am considering requesting to work with Rebecca. You are the only other person that I have seen that has worked with Samantha.

Are you concerned? Have you heard from the resort/wedding coordinator? I do not want to put any of our guests in harms way and this is really worrying me! Thanks in advance for your thoughts! Nikki Hi Nikki, I just returned from a trip to the Riviera Maya and can honestly tell you that we had no problems. We took a day trip to Playa del Carmen on a Collectivo and did not once feel uneasy about being there. I can understand your apprehension but the officals in Mexico do a pretty good job keeping their big resort towns safe. Hope this eases your mind a little. Karen
  20. Can anyone tell me that if I get a group code through Dreams Puerto Vallarta can my guests use these if they go through a travel agent or will they have to book directly through the resort?

Hi Everyone, My name is Karen and am getting married in May 2011 at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta. I have been to the resort and loved it, it fact I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta the moment I walked into town. We have not really planned anything and I am sure we will have a lot of questions.
