  1. Hello ladies, Are most of you getting your makeup & hair done at the salon/spa? Or are most of you doing your own makeup/having someone else apply your makeup? I'm debating if I should trust the girls at the salon to do my makeup or not?? Hair I'm not so worried about since my style will be simple.
  2. Hey Astef, Did Mayte confirm with you that a dance floor outside would cost more? Cause we finally chose to go with DJ Mannia and I think this dj provides a dance floor which could be setup on the sand. Maybe I should double check with our DJ and confirm with Mayte too. Not sure if you saw the link I posted above, but this bride chose to have the dancing inside and had chairs/pillows setup outside in a circle for guests to chill on. I love that idea, so I'm also leaning towards this option now.
  3. Also, this link http://sbchildsphotographyblog.com/?p=21379 was posted today on the Jellyfish Facebook page. Yet another AMAZING wedding that was beautifully decorated by Mayte.
  4. Hey ladies, How many of you are opting for a dance floor outside the Jellyfish on the beach vs. dancing inside the restaurant? I've seen pics with both setups and just wondering which is the best way to go. I love the whole setup outside with lanterns, but if it's really windy out, would it not be better to dance inside, lol? Decision, decisions . . . 4 months, 9 days and counting....woohoo!!
  5. Our wedding is on Nov 27, 2011 and we haven't placed a deposit yet. I keep changing my options so I've delayed the whole deposit process, but I'm sure Mayte doesn't care. She knows we are serious and wouldn't go through all this work for nothing. And we will eventually give her a deposit, but it just goes to show you that it's not a requirement like with our photographer!
  6. Brooke: Thanks for sharing your special day with us and the rest of the girls on here for sharing the video info on FB. Looks like you had a beautful day and a beautiful wedding. If ever you have a chance, please send us some pics of your wedding day. I'd love to see the decor Mayte did for you guys. Also, did you go with the restaurant DJ? And if so, what are your thoughts on this DJ? Thanks, Melissa
  7. This post is getting too quiet - lol! How are you ladies doing so far? Where are you at with all your planning?
  8. Hey Astef: Here is the exact quote I got from DJ Mannia for 4 hours: Hi Melissa: First of all recive warm grettings, the price for Dj service is $ 850. usd and includes: * Mc * Professional Dj * Dj Booth * Sound System * Wireless Microphone * Robotic Lights ( 4 hours services ) * Extra Hour $ 150. usd My only problem with this quote is that it's only for 4 hours and we need a DJ for at least 6 hours!!! So it would cost us 850 + 150x2 = $1150!!! So looks like we are sticking with the JellyFish DJ, and if he sucks, we'll have our ipod as a back-up plan.
  9. Megan, Thanks for all the advice and help. This is really helpful to us all. Do you think it's worth doing an open-bar like you guys did for 30 ppl? I'll have at least 2-5 ppl that won't even drink alcoholic beverages so it seems silly to pay a per person cost when not everyone will be drinking alcohol. Ladies, I can't decide between going with DJ Mannia or the JellyFish DJ. There are no reviews on this DJ and tons of great reviews on DJ Mannia. I wonder if it's worth to spend an extra $200 to guarantee a great time for my guests, or take a chance with the Jellyfish DJ and see what happens. What do you ladies think?
  10. We had to go with the judge's availability - so our ceremony is at 4:00PM.
  11. I forgot to add that if you choose to have a 2 hour cocktail party after your ceremony, Mayte told me that the price goes up from $5/pp to $10/pp for 2 hours. This is why I'm on the fence about having 2 hours for picture taking and having cocktails for my guests.
  12. Another question for you ladies... How much time are you allowing yourselves to take pictures after the wedding ceremony? 1 hour, 1.5 hr? or 2hrs? I can't decide if 1 hr is too short or 2 hours too long, lol.
  13. I agree with Astef - I posted the same question on here a while ago, so if any previous brides out there used the Jellyfish DJ, we would love to hear your review on him.
  14. Congrats Mrs Williams!! Looks like you had a beautiful wedding and I love the pic of you and your bridesmaids -- the different purple dresses are so cute!
  15. Wow, thanks for all the info. Your wedding was amazing and your videos made me tear up. Your dress was gorgeous too!! Thanks for sharing your special day with us, it means so much to hear from another bride and to know that choosing the JF for our ceremony and reception was the RIGHT CHOICE!!
  16. Hey ladies, I haven't heard back from Mayte either - and I emailed her back on May 10th. I did notice however on their Facebook page that another person is responding to comment on their page. This is the last post I saw with a NEW email address: Hello , you can contac directly via phone to our wedding coordinator,Maite. 809/307/7361 also you can email to [email protected] thats my direct mail address, gabriel. I've seen this Gabriel person respond to a lot of messages on FB, so maybe we could get through to Mayte by getting through to Gabriel, LOL.

  18. Hey Ladies, I noticed that we are missing a list of dates as to when we are all getting married at the JellyFish, so I thought I'd start! DD/MM/YYYY Digado ~ 19/11/2011 Melissa & Bruce ~ 27/11/2011 PJ & Jen ~ 07/01/2012
  19. Hey Digado, We are getting married on Nov 27, 2011 (Sunday) and it will be a legal wedding. Normally the judge does not do weddings on a Sunday, but Mayte confirmed with us that he will for us and already confirmed a time of 4:30PM. Mayte will contact the judge and request a time for you - in less you have a specific time preference. Afterwards she will send you an email with all the documents you need to send her. If you want, i can forward you the email she sent me with instructions. PM me and let me know.
  20. Awesome planning thread! And thanks for all the templates!

  22. Thanks for clarifying Liz, this makes me less worried about having a guard there now. And it makes sense to have security around to keep off any locals, lol.
  23. Hey ladies, my FI's cousin told us on the weekend that the JF restaurant has a security guard on location and carries a machine gun. For those of you who have visited the restaurant or recently got married there, did you see this security guard? Is this true? The last thing I want is my flowers girls to freak out over seeing a man with a machine gun, yikes!!
  24. Hey ladies, this question goes out to the brides who have recently got married at the DPB. I have a question regarding makeup / hair. Did past brides use the salon services on site and were you satisfied with your hair/makeup? A friend of mine got married in Jamaica last year and had a really bad experience with her makeup. She ended up having to wash it off and redo her own makeup. To upcoming brides: Are you planning on getting your makeup/hair done at the resort salon?
