  1. Congrats! Sottero & Midgley dresses are great! I just ordered the Toni today. A bit more dress (in the back) than I was expecting to get for a DW, but I love it.

Regan Thanks for all your feedback! I went back to the salon today to try them both on again, and the choice was obvious - Toni! I find it suits my body type better, and I love the flowy lace at the back.
  3. Hi everyone, I am thinking of Sottero and Midgley Toni - Toni - by Sottero & Midgley Just wondering if anyone thinks the dress (with the flowy back that I love) is too much for a Mexican wedding in April? That's my only hesitation. I saw another similar dress (non-Maggie) that I like that is more lightweight but I'm not sure it flatters my figure as much. Regan
  4. And thanks Lindslou! I did try it with a sash and liked it. When I looked up pics of the dress online, I see that past brides have worn it with and without a sash, and look gorgeous both ways.

  6. Hi Lua, I live in TO as well. Have you tried The Dressroom on Danforth? I went there the other week. They have less expensive dresses. I tried on one that was $300 and another for $500 - and you would get a new dress. You could also try the BRidal Project - they have used dresses for little money, which all goes to a good cancer. 7. Jannae, What a beautiful dress! Who is the designer? Regan
  8. Welcome! I have chosen Moon Palace (Cancun) - our date is in April 2011.
  9. Pineapplebride, We faced the same dilemma a couple of weeks ago. We decided to put down deposits for 10 people (the minimum needed to obtain a group rate) which totalled $2000. With the number of people we are inviting (130-140), I figure at least 10 will want to book as part of the group. We are send STD cards with the TA's contact info and encouraging people to book ASAP. As people book, the $200/person deposit will be transferred back to us. Some people end up asking people to book individually as well because of all of the restrictions that go along with it. Good luck in your decision!
  10. From what I've found so far (from Canada) is that the week of Apr 3-10 (my wedding week) is about $200 more than the week of April 10th. I was also told the week after that is even cheaper. Not sure about later in the month though. I am really struggling with the decision to book a group rate now or wait it out. The prices are higher than I'd like ($1960). I would really rather send the TA info with my STD's, and I don't want to wait to long to do that. Fortunately, the best rate I've been able to get has a one time price adjustment. On the con side, they will only price match within the same tour operator (Sunquest), which limits our options, esp because their original quote was not competitive at all (they price matched another tour operator so we could get the price adjustment). Decisions, decisions...
  11. Just wondering if anyone has booked group travel packages yet? I have been talking to several TA's and it has been really difficult trying to get a package that suits our needs and our guests' budgets. I am wondering whether to book now, or wait a couple of months to see if prices go down? Of course, the TA's are all telling me to book now...
  12. I have just received quotes from a bunch of TA's for Apr 3-10. The best deal I can get is $1960 for Toronto to Cancun at Moon Palace. Fortunately, they do allow a one time price adjustment. The catch is that the tour operator is Sunquest, and right now their price for the week is really $2500! They agreed to price match to $1960 so we could get a price adjustment guarantee - I wonder if the price adjustment would really amount to anything since Sunquest seems so noncompetitive right now... I am struggling with whether to go with this deal now to get things settled, or to wait for a couple more months hoping for prices to drop...
  13. I am getting married at Moon Palace in April 2011. I am wondering what prices were for April 2010 travel packages from Canada? I am getting rates just over $2000 right now, and wondering if I should wait for them to come down a bit. The rates are a bit higher than I anticipated.
  14. Ravywedding, It looks like we are both getting married at MP in the same week! very exciting!
  15. I just want to introduce myself! After a lot of back-and-forth, I have confirmed my wedding date of April 8, 2011 at Moon Palace Cancun. I am in the process of trying to get some prices from travel agents - I am trying to keep it under $2000/adult. Figuring everything out has been a bit overwhelming, but I am happy that we got the date and resort part figured out!
  16. I am choosing the gazebo for the same reason as Southern Sweetie - outdoor location, but still sheltered in case of rain. Plus, it holds a ton of guests (130ish)
  17. I just noticed that the prices are online now for the week of April 3rd - I looked up Moon Palace and the prices are starting at $2380 (Cdn)! I am trying not to worry about it too much, and hope the prices come down. Also wait for TA's to get back to me with their prices...
  18. Hi Ladies, We are just about to book Moon Palace for April 8, 2011. We anticipate that some of our guests will be bringing young children. I understand that the Kids Club is for children 4 yrs and up - anyone have any idea whether or not they offer babysitting for younger children? I've tried looking around their site and haven't seen anything about this. Also - I noticed that the contract we have says we will get contacted by the onsite wedding coordinator 30 days prior to the wedding - but I have seen lots of people on this site who get contact 60 or 90 days in advance - anyone else just offered just 30 days? Thanks!!
  19. Hi everyone, I just received a contract to book Moon Palace for April 8, 2011! Just wondering - in the contract it says that I will receive contact from a wedding coordinator 30 days prior to the wedding - is this typical? For those having cocktail hours/receptions - when do (did) you book these?
  20. Hi everyone, I am confused! I am looking to book my wedding for Cancun/Riviera Maya either the last 2 weeks of Jan 2011 or the first week of April 2011. I have visited a couple of travel agents and rec'd conflicting information about whether Jan or April is cheaper. My preference is to have the wedding in early April (Easter is late April so we would avoid that), but would consider January if it is significantly less expensive.
