Last year in early April I was in dier need of a vacation. I must have kept expressing this to my fiance because he finally caught on and told me to take Friday off work and we'll just go somewhere for the day. "OK!" was my answer to that! The whole time I assumed we would go to San Francisco for the day because that is what I had suggested.
The Thursday before I must have been lurking at my calendar because I came to a realization of the date!
Needless to say I rushed home, pulled out the test kit, and to my surprise a instant "positive" result was staring me in the face. I was flooded with overwhelming shock to say the least.
The minutes clicked by at a snails pace that night as I impatiently waited for my fiance to get home. He may have had one foot through the door before I blurted out the news. The look on his face was as if I was speaking a foreign language to him. He needed reassurance of course. We were then in route to the store for two more pregnancy test. Low and behold two more INSTANTLY positive results now stared him in the face.
After sleeping on the life changing news, we woke to joy and excitement layered with nervousness. But we still had our day trip to attend, so we went to work with this new secret on our minds, and would start our day at noon. Matt picked me up, and a quarter ways into our trip I finally asked, “Where are we going?†And he answered, “Don’t worry about it.†You CAN'T say those words to me, I’m a planner and must know details! I sat restless the whole way until it was obvious we were going to Santa Cruz.
Matt took us to Natural Bridges, an area we visited often on random day trips to SC before we moved north. Standing in the same spot we took a previous picture he got down on one knee and proposed. Of course I said “Yes,†but I was more in shock he had a ring! Little did I know Matt was planning that day for a few weeks, long before we got the news of our little gift.
In a matter of two days our life was changed forever…I surprised him and he returned the favor. So the wedding planning was put on hold for 2009. But we're now enjoying our son and eagerly planning the wedding for this year.
