Hello ladies! I do not know if you know this website but it was really helpful to me. Go to the yellow menu of the webpage and select your wedding month. It will give you interesting statistics! Could be helpful when planning the time frame of your day. Let me know what you think! Here is for the July brides: On a typical July day, during the early morning hours you will probably find the temperature will be around 81.5 degrees. In July, temperatures typically rise to around 84.9 degrees by early afternoon. By the early evening hours in July the temperature will generally fall to somewhere in the vicinity of 80.2 degrees. Overall, temperatures in St. Lucia during July average around 82.9 degrees. During July, rain is most likely to occur around 8:00 AM , and least likely to occur around 2:00 PM . To the extent thunderstorms occur in St. Lucia during July, they are most likely to occur around 8:00 AM , as shown in the following table. http://stlucia-guide.info/weather/july LilyRose -

Hi Monica Mai, I agree, the tent will be perfect, do not worry about it. :-) For the flowers, I completely understand how you feel. I have hesitated many times between real touch and the flowers provided by the resort. The thing is that you never know what fresh flowers they gonna have and how they are going to look. Our resort made it clear that special flowers need to be imported. I think you will like the ginger lilies. The wedding arch will look good. I am crossing my fingers for your bouquet! Keep us updated! It will help other brides to choose their flowers! LilyRose -

Hello ladies! Since we are such an active and nice group now, I had this idea to regroup every "bride to be infos" in a single post. Maybe there is a way to make it a sticky but I will have to research that. Any help welcome! And please let me know if your info has changed (specially dates and resort) or if I forgot someone (hopefully not...) Sorry MEve for the forum signature. The forum had a major facelift few months ago and since then, the permissions had changed. But, finally, I am now a Junior Member! Yeah! LOL For the villa for sale in Soufriere, I would love it! Just need some spare millions dollars! :-) -

Awesome plans Jess Marie! I am from Vancouver so I understand the long flights you are going into! For the special license, I would double check with the resort, specially since you arrive on a Sunday in St.Lucia. (You said it's a Wednesday but on my calendar, Feb.15 2012 is a Sunday?..sorry if I am wrong). In my case, I will arrive on a Saturday, and get married on the Monday. The resort said it was ok (with the license surcharge) since the lawyer and paper work will be done at the resort before we get there and they will come to our resort upon arrival or on Monday morning. I will met the wedding coordinator on the Monday morning for the last minute details. Most of the planning will be done before we arrive. We will still have Tuesday to Saturday to enjoy as husband and wife (5 days). It's a personal choice but I like the idea of having one complete day in St Lucia before the wedding, just in case something happens. That way, I can do a group activity the day before the wedding, enjoy the spa and make sure everyone is not on an extreme jet lag fatigue since my trip also involves a red eye flight for fiance and I. I think also that I will have more time to put together the last minute details. But once again, it's a personal decision and the resort will be able to give you the best answer regarding the legal part. Let me know what you think! -

Welcome to the forum Crystalg3! You will find the forum very useful! Where are you from ? I will get married at Jade Mountain this summer and all my guests will be staying at Anse Chastanet. I am sure you can not go wrong with your choice. The only advice I would give (read my previous posts) is that Anse Chastanet is more expensive so it is best suited for intimate weddings. A lot of guests can not attend for that reason. And even if you consider renting a villa for them, they won't save money when you add all the little extra. Well, I do not want to be negative here (sorry if it sounds like that.) I just want to share my experience so you are not disappointed like I was. Karolin, the owner, is a pleasure to work with. Another bride from here will get married at AC in July too. So we can both help you before and after! Have you book your date with the resort yet? Happy planning! -
Bridal Salons in Vancouver, BC
LilyRose replied to ourvm's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi ladies! I did have some great experiences to share! I did not find my dress there but Ariel from The Bridal Gallery is a pleasure to work with! She was pregnant in December so maybe in leave right now but if you book, ask for her! She put no pressure, treated us like friends and family and always tell a honest opinion. She did even call me back to make sure I have found a dress (even if she knew it was not at her store.) What a good service! I found many gowns in the style I was looking at Lisa's Bridal but the service was not as good. My choice # 2 was there. Note: They do not want to tell you the designer name or give you a picture of the gown. Average experience overall. I found my gown at Isabelle's in North Van. They did not have a sample of my dress there (neither other bridal stores) but they ordered it for me. I saved a lot of money with their promotions. I saw the cost of the dress when visiting the East Coast and they gave me a lower price. And I did not have to pay the taxes (food bank promotion, I brought some canned food) PLUS 150$ toward accessories! I probably saved at least 300-400$, which is amazing! The salon is sleek and modern. Nothing tacky in there! I strongly recommend Kasia! She is very professional and friendly. She does not put pressure. They are confident about their products and prices so they keep the tags on their dresses so you can know who the designer is! Cheri, the owner, is always replying fast to her emails. You can enjoy the Isabelle's experience better when booking an appointment. (I did not the first time but after that, I did and the customer service was even better!) Their opening hours are also very convenient. Hope this can help other brides! LilyRose -

Thank Kristy for the advice regarding duty free. I think that I would buy it in Toronto (at the airport duty-free) before flying to St.Lucia. According to this website, MEve is right: only one liter of alcohol per person can enter St.Lucia without duty. http://www.worldtravelguide.net/st-lucia/duty-free -

MEve, great idea about the liquor store at the dutyfree. I heard that there is not limit of duty free going to the Island. Or, if there is a limit, it's one box of 12. I will double check. A lot of our guests are champagne drinkers so we will bring two or three boxes there for sure :-) MEve, if you want to edit your signature, go to the top section of the page and click on the My profile tab. Then, scroll down at the end of the page where you can edit the signature. Let me know if it works! :-) By the way, I tried my dress yesterday (well, the sample) for the first time since I ordered it and it was awesome! Can't wait to have mine! I was worried to not like it anymore but luckily, my choice is confirmed. I also found my earrings ( Marquise by Bridal classics), my veil and my bridesmaid's dress color: fuschia. I even purchased a cute little purse for her. Well, for me too since she will carry my some of my stuff, (hahaha...) http://celebrityfashiondirectory.com/archives/handbags/sondra-roberts-handbags/9861 I also went to Michaels and found silk orchids (branch). I have detached the orchids and glued them to a ribbon. This ribbon will be attached to the OOT bag for a tropical feel. It's really cute! Pics coming soon! Lilyrose -

Hello dear ladies! I'm back from Africa now so hopefully, will have more time to plan! I am going to try my dress today...In fact, I tried my dress in September while I was visiting Montreal. I ordered it in Vancouver in December after an intensive hunt, and no other dress was beating the Montreal's one. So, I never get the chance to try it again and it will arrive only in May. But the store really liked the dress (according to the pictures) and I just learned this week that they have ordered one sample in store! So I am heading there today to try it and chose a veil and the bridesmaid dress color. I hope I will have the same good feelings about the dress! So nervous now! JessMarie, Congrats and welcome! Seems like according to your description, you won't need a wedding planner. I have read a lot of reviews about weddings there (Trip advisor) and I think that your resort will be able to manage everything for you. Yeah! Wilsonj2, glad to see that the planning is going well. It's so good to see this thread being alive now.. I have waited so long! hahaha! MEve, I think that you will like getting married in April. Less expensive and less crowded! "Rien n'arrive pour rien!" And more time to plan! Believe me, I got engaged on Valentine's Day last year and the time flies by for sure! JessM, congrats on your confirmed date! You will get married 9 days after us! Since I am back in Canada now, I will email back the resort and plan a phone meeting with Karolin. Are you taking the catamaran cruise or the sailboat ? I found the price very expensive for the catamaran so I need to work to find a compromise. I agree with you, a cruise would be the best thank you we could give to our guests. And I agree with you all. There is always extra costs we need to consider. Set up, activities, champagne, etc. Even if my guests are AI, we need to pay a surcharge per meal (I think it's 50$ per person) for the wedding reception. It makes sense since the wedding meal will be more elaborated that the AI meal but I was wondering if it's the same for you. A lot of people think that the wedding does not cost anything to the married couple since everyone pay their own trip but after organizing my own wedding, I can see that this is not true! Regarding the AHR, we really wanted to have one. When we choose to have a destination wedding, the idea of a AHR was reassuring to us. But because we were not sure of our schedule after the wedding (fiancé is working overseas) we decided to not put anything about it in the invitation. And I am glad I did. I do not feel the need now to do a big AHR! I do not know if it's because I want to really splurge with our guests in St. Lucia or the additional costs of having at AHR but.. I'm not feeling it now. I won't be able to beat or imitate my wedding at Jade Mountain in any AHR! And since our families are in Quebec, our friends in BC and all over the world, we would need to do many AHR or make travel our families for it. So, we are thinking to maybe do something really informal in our next trip in Montreal (outside BBQ or maybe a get together in a restaurant) to see everyone and share some pictures. I really think that AHR are great, I just do not think it would work for us so I am glad to spend more $ in St. Lucia with our guests. I found my OOT bags, I got an awesome deal on it! I am a huge fan of LUG products. (I have them all ..almost!) So I have ordered at a special price the Eco Shopper reusable grocery bag. It looks very good and the color is unisex (I choose the grass green). I know that it would be the kind of product I would use myself after the wedding. It's not personalized but I will add some color and a tag on the handle or the front pocket. http://www.luglife.com/Eco-Shopper-Foldable-Tote LilyRose
