  1. I am doing a welcome reception the first night. It is going to just be an hour open bar right before our dinning time. We will introduce everyone and go through the details of the wedding and week. . We are having our wedding reception (the two hour deluxe) this will be in port at St Thomas and then are adding on another hour with a band to cont. the party in the room next door (this had to be done through the event department.) For the wedding party and our immediate family we are doing a "rehearsal dinner" at the specialty restaurant the 2nd night of the cruise. We are debating on having a group volley ball tournament at Half Moon Cay. We can reserve the court and an event staff for $50 for an hour; I am just not sure if my guest will want to do it? We are also debating on a mini golf tournament (need to talk to carnival to see if we can pre reserve it) and/or a scavenger hunt (carnival had sent me one they have.) I would love to do something the last day and have a slide show with pictures of the week. But I don’t want to plan something if no one will come or if people would rather do their own thing and enjoy their vacation.. I don’t want to over load people with our activities but I want them to know we appreciate that they came and make it special for our group.
  2. I am sailing on Carnival Liberty leaving Miami on May 14, 2011. I am having having my wedding on May 17th in St Thomas and then coming back on board the ship for the wedding reception. We are having a two hour reception in the stage lounge booked. Do you have any pictures of the wedding reception you could send me? I would love to get a feel for what it will be like! I am trying to think of ways to make the reception better... more personal. I was thinking about getting custom made napkins and/or coaster. I am also not sure what to do for favors? Do you have any suggestions on ways to enhance the room? Also I am having what they told me is a "social host" for my music selection which will kind of MC the wedding, but will play music we have on a CD. Then after the two hour reception we have booked an hour open bar and a 4 piece band in the room across from the stage lounge this way we can extend the reception to 3 hours. I am not getting real details on what kind of music the band will play. When did you find out you were having Mambo Magic? Did you have any options for music?
  3. I am trying to figure out a place to have a wedding ceremony and reception in St Thomas for May 2011. I am currently debating between Sugar Bay Beach Resort and Spa or Emerald Beach Resort. We are expecting at least 40 people and wanted to have a lunch recpetion with live music, drinks and dancing. Does anyone have any reviews of these two locations? If anyone has done a wedding here, do you ahve any pictures. Thank you!
  4. I am in the early stages of planning a destination/cruise wedding. I am thinking about planning it for May 2011. We DO NOT want to get married on the ship. We want to have a ceremony followed by a reception (lunch, drinks and dancing) in port some where. I am not sure what port would be best or know of a good reception location? We want a beach wedding ceremony, and want to have a reception where we can have dancing. We are hoping for about 40 people to join us. Any suggestions on good place to have a day time reception would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Jessica
