  1. Hi there! We are getting married in San Jose in Feb 2011. Church wedding followed by a reception at the Melia Cabo Real. The church in San Jose is called: The Mission de San Jose del Cabo Anuiti and you can contact Padre Juvencio at [email protected] . It is a gorgeous church! My Fiance and I went on a site visit to Cabo in May and met with the Padre. We attended a bilingual mass on Sunday and it was so special and moving. This church is a perfect place for a wedding. Just as an FYI, in addition to your church's Pre-Cana you will have to complete paperwork and obtain Bishop approval to marry in Mexico. You can find that information here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/57866/misson-de-san-jose-del-cabo-marriage-requirements#post_1254789. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks! Stephanie
  2. Sounds good! I am sure I have more than enough time to plan everything, but sometimes I just want to cross if off my 'to do' list! Good luck on the 12th! Are you planning on a trial-run? Enjoy the next few months--I am sure they'll fly by! :-)
  3. I am sure everything will go smoothly! Did you try to email her again? I just turned in our Wedding Questionaire with all the details of everything we want. So, details to come about the price of everything! Keep me posted on your contact with them!
  4. Hola! Has anyone thougth of using Spanish Fans for your bridesmaids or yourself instead of flowers? Is that cute/unique or just cheap and disconnected? Let me know! Thanks!
  5. I agree! I've searched for posts, but they're not very current and didn't provide a lot of details. The Spa has this package that includes day-before, private mani/pedi with all your bridemaids, plus day-of hair and make-up with champagne and cheese/crackers for $170/person. I am not very interested in the make-up b/c I feel like I won't look like myself and I am pretty good at it myself. But its so close to the Melia Cabo Real. It would be such a fun event to pamper ourselves the day before and not have to travel very far for the day of hair styling. I mean--how can you screw up a mani/pedi, right? I am just unsure about the hair/up-do's. Have a good day!
  6. Hola! I am looking for reviews about the Spa Oasis at the Hilton Los Cabos. I am interested in mani/pedi pre-wedding spa party and day-of hair. If you have insight, please do tell! Gracias! Stephanie
  7. I am so glad other's have also booked at Melia Cabo Real! I have been in contact with Vanessa and she is so quick to respond. She always says YES to my requests! She's great! I was a little nervous about choosing MCR since there isn't a ton of info, but after the site visit, we were 100% sure! Good luck everyone! Can't wait to see how everything turns out!!!!
  8. Hi Bradley! Thanks for wanting to help, however my resort is going to help us out with a Groom's Dinner onsite. Thanks so much! Stephanie
  9. You are very welcome! I am so happy we were able to go on a site visit--it has created a lot of peace of mind for me! Good luck and have a wonderful time! Stephanie
  10. Hi there! We just got back from a site visit to San Jose del Cabo. If you go to the "town square" by the Misson de San Jose del Cabo (the gorgeous church) you will find a ton of buildings that are colorful and vibrant! Take a peak at my pics--there are a ton, so scroll through! The pics of the town/buildings are closer to the end. If you are standing in front of the church and walked to your left and looped back around to the water fountain, you will find a ton of spots for photos! There are so many places--I am sure you'll find the perfect photo-ops! Snapfish: Share:Registration A cab ride is typically $20 dollars for a van--for up to 4 people, each additional person is $5...give or take. Good luck! Let me know how it turns out!!!! Stephanie
  11. Hola ladies! I just got back from my site visit to Cabo this past weekend! We stayed at the Melia Cabo Real and I have nothing but rave reviews!!!! We also toured the Crowne Plaza, which was nice—but not our thing. We (my fiance and I) were able to see 2 weddings take place, as well as a long cab ride to the airport with another couple that got married before we arrived--everyone LOVED it! Keith and I did a lot of lounging by the pool, then we'd go to our appointments. We talked to everyone we could about their experiences at the Melia and 99.9% of the guests had amazing things to say. One lady was not so happy—but she must’ve been one of those travelers that isn’t happy with anything unless they are serving her grapes on a gold platter while hot pool boys fan her! Eye ye ye! She was bad!!!! Anyway, back to the fun stuff!!!! Pics here: Snapfish: Share:Registration GROUNDS/POOL/BEACH: We arrived on Saturday afternoon and it was a few hours until check in, so we had lunch, walked around the grounds and lounged by the pool. It was great! The food was very, very good and the grounds are so clean and so BIG!!!! If you wanted to “get away†you could. The pool is huge, so if you want to hang by the Palapa/Pool bar and get crazy you can, but then you could sit on the other side of the pool and be secluded and away from everyone. The beach at the Melia Cabo Real is huge—Football field big! The sand is rough but gets softer as you reach the ocean. The Meila has a retaining wall made of huge boulders that creates a swimable beach. Very nice! Extra fun stuff—Rock climbing wall, bonfire pit, zip line on the beach and free kids club. ENTERTAINMENT: The Melia doesn’t have live entertainment shows every night—which I actually liked, they provide more interactive activities for you to do together with your travel partner. The night we arrived they had a live rock band. We listened with a drink, lounging on the day beds on the terrace, some people danced, it was fun! The next night they had Casino Night. Black Jack and Craps tables were set up—fun and interactive! The last night of our stay there was a DJ that really knew what he was doing. EVERYONE was dancing—even my FH and he NEVER dances! It was fun, energetic and lively! WEDDING PLANNERS: Cecilia was my contact, however when we arrived we learned she had to leave due to some sort of family emergency and would not be working there any longer. Abagail was the other contact and she jumped in and listened to all our questions and set up an appointment with us for the following day to have answers. In the mean time, Vanessa the new Wedding Planner started and hit the ground running. They both were amazing and are whipping up a contract with all of our custom requests. FOOD: The Melia Cabo Real’s food was so good! They have the typical breakfast/lunches at La Palapa over looking the ocean. Everything I had was spot on—nothing was bad! And we are really big on eating tasty food, so this met our expectations! As for dinner-they have two restaurants. One has steaks, seafood—fine dining and the other is Asian inspired with sushi, tempura, etc, which was soooo good! What I liked was that at the Melia they do not give you a ticket voucher for one dinner at each reservation restaurant. You can go as many times as you’d like throughout your stay—you just need to make a reservation the day of. They also have themed buffet dinners available every night without reservations required. Tasty, tasty, tasty! OH…and the the desserts were actually good! A lot of my experiences with desserts during my travels in MX have been poor to average, however the desserts here were soooo good! Fruit tarts, chocolate cakes, the list could go on and on!!!! I hope this helps anyone who is curious about the Melia Cabo Real. I LOVE IT! We are staying at the Melia, getting married here on Feb 1, 2011 at the Mission de San Jose del Cabo and having the dinner and dancing at the Melia! Can’t wait!!!!! Adios! Stephanie
  12. Hola! Looking for a laid-back, relaxed location for our Groom's Dinner. Something simple--like a taco bar, margaritas and a pinata. I figure since our wedding reception will be formal, it would be fun to have a chill dinner the night before. More focused on fun and mingling than eating overpriced food. I would love for it to be moderate in price. I've seen some 'group' prices at the resturants for $50/person, I like $20-30-sih. Thoughts? Recommednations? Thanks so much!
  13. Ohhh! So wonderful to hear! My new Travel Agent--without the attitude told me that Melia was wonderful and also suggested Barcelo--but seems a little more spendy, like you mentioned. We are going to visit over Memorial Day--do you think we arrange a few other hotel site visits or do you think Melia Cabo Real is the ticket? I just want to make a decision and not spend days of our trip going to a bunch or resorts! Thanks!

  15. Thanks so much! I spoke to another travel agent and she said it was a wonderful resort..."older, but renovated" I feel much better about it now. I am also going on a site visit to ease my mind. I will post pics when I return! Thanks!
  16. I am really excited about the information about Melia Cabo Real...it looks so nice! I wanted to take a site visit, but with all this info, I think I will just go with my gut! Now, I just need to get in contact with the Priest at Mission de San Jose del Cabo to arrange the wedding. Does any one have a direct contact email? I emailed the church about a week ago, but am dying to hear back! I should be patient, it was just Easter! Anyway, I'd love any more information available about Melia Cabo Real and the Mission de San Jose del Cabo! Thanks, Stephanie
  17. I'd love to learn more about the Crowne Plaza! If anyone has helpful info--send it my way!!!!
  18. Hi everyone! I am in the beginning stages of looking into/planning my destination wedding. I am totally in love with the info and images I recevied from Cecila at Melia Cabo Real, but when I called my travel agent to discuss, she said that it was "boring and old." Kind of like apartment buildings. Bummer.... Does anyone know if this is true? Has anyone had a wedding there recently--did you love or hate it? Did it get renovated recently? I would love to hear pros/cons. My fiance and I are in our late 20's and our guests range from 20 yr old party animals to 65 yr old Grandma's!!! We need a place that is fun, afforable, nice, clean, for everyone. I would love your opinon's if you've heard much about Melia Cabo Real. Thanks, Stephanie
